I have been a fan of the…read moremuscadine fruit for many years and this small vineyard and farm make some very unusual products including a wonderful Mississippi muscadine juice and muscadine jelly. The products are available at a few groceries and locations around the state but this is where they are made and you can buy them onsite. It's available in Corinth at Rogers Supermarket. Mississippi did not repeal prohibition until 1966 and for a short time thereafter several boutique wineries sprouted around the state. Only one, Old South Winery in Natchez, survives today. Hillside Vineyard only bottles pure Muscadine juice and it is unique and quite delicious served very cold. I've always thought it was the perfect match for a classic Southern breakfast of country ham, eggs, grits and fluffy buttered biscuits with muscadine jelly. White muscadines are also known as and called Scuppernongs and an article I ran across many years ago from a publication called the Southern Cultivator dated 1868 referred to the juice of the Scuppernong as "Dei Donum Magnum" which was Latin for "Great Gift of the Gods". That is how I would describe Hillside Vineyard's muscadine juice.

My son Nick loves different types of food he ordered a Pelua sandwich. He said it was amazing. Loaded with brisket, black beans and Gouda cheese. His choice of drink was a frappe, while I chose a boring latte. The entire staff was very friendly. Our servor explained the menu in detail. Our dishes were are very flavorful and I could have easily overstuffed myself. The location is the main drawback. It's nicely done but too small with only a few tables and like 6 parking spots that are shared among several busy businesses including other popular restaurants. Our server was a little slow and didn't bring out the appetizer until the food was already there too. Luckily it worked out because the sampler was so hot it needed a few minutes to cool down before we could touch it anyways. If you can get a spot it's definitely worth a try.

Jacob P. Was our server and he was awesome. He explained the menu to us and gave us feedback on what he would recommend of the options we gave. He was constantly checking on us to make sure we had everything we needed. We started with the chips and queso. It was good, but nothing to write home about. Just your normal chips and queso. I had the catfish lagniappe and it was SUPERB! I loved the blackened catfish over the grits with the yummy crawfish sauce. The flavor combinations were on point and I throughly enjoyed every single bite! My husband had the Caribbean steak and really loved the flavor of the steak, but it was cooked a little more than the medium he asked for. The flavor made up for it though and he cleaned his plate. We both had the honey bacon brussel sprouts which were very tender and tasty as well. Pro tip, make sure to get all the yummy sauce that settles in the bottom. My son had the chicken Alfredo pasta along with a Caesar salad and he enjoyed his as well. If you're ever in the Starkville area, I highly recommend you give this place a try.

Public Safety Alert: Menu Misrepresentation, Undisclosed Pork Concealed in Cajun Pasta at Bistro 24…read more On July 4, 2026, during a holiday trip from Georgia (5+ hour drive), my fiancée and I dined at Bistro 24 at Pearl River Resort. Having abstained from pork for over 30 years, I trusted the menu when ordering Cajun Pasta--a meatless base with a paid Chicken add-on. Unbeknownst to us, pork sausage was heavily concealed inside the thick Alfredo sauce and vegetable base. We elected carry-out containers after sampling several bites and returned to our room with the intentions of getting some much needed rest. Hours later, my fiancée suffered acute gastrointestinal distress. I called front desk to be connected to Bistro 24, in hope of speaking directly to a manager or food representative, to no avail. Moments later I suffered severe biological rejection resulting in acute emesis upon our bedding. At that time I requested housekeeping. We were forced to get dressed and leave our room at the Silver Star Hotel to address the issue in-person at Bistro 24 inside the Golden Moon Casino. We confronted the manager and Executive Chef. The Chef openly admitted, in front of the manager, that he intentionally added pork sausage to the base because "everyone was asking for it to be", despite omitting it from the menu. This was a deliberate decision to alter a dish without disclosing a restricted protein. We filed an on-property complaint with resort security (Officer Iris, badge #47). Post-departure, we sent emailed complaints. Risk Management sent a Certified Mail package offering a nominal $500 each, conditional upon signing a Confidential Release Form. We rejected it. I offered a final window for them to outline their corrective menu policies, but they chose total silence. CRITICAL SAFETY WARNING: I urge anyone with severe food allergies, religious/spiritual beliefs, or dietary restrictions to exercise extreme caution here. When a kitchen intentionally conceals pork inside a base sauce without labeling it, it creates a high-risk environment. You cannot trust this menu. Due to the resort's total lack of accountability, I am formally escalating this to the Choctaw Gaming Commission and the Office of the Tribal Chief for a full regulatory audit. We intend to exhaust all available means to protect public safety from corporate entities that fail to acknowledge grievances and operate outside of policies meant to protect the public.
