I am a bit surprised that this place has its own Yelp listing as it is one of the food stations inside Whole Foods, but it is here and claimed by the business owner with business photos, so sure, I'll review it, lol.
Like I said, it's one of the food stations inside Whole Foods (it's next to the pizza station), so you order your food, they make it, give it to you, then you bring it to the main check out/cash registers and pay there.
So prices are quite reasonable. For $8 you can get either 3 tacos, a burrito, or a burrito bowl. I chose the 3 tacos. You can get them on corn tortillas or flour tortillas. I chose the former. Your protein choices are shredded beef, strips of chicken, shredded pork, and tofu cubes. I was really happy that I was able to get a different protein on each taco. So I got a beef, a chicken and a pork. Then you get your choice of 3 toppings. I chose pineapple salsa, jack cheese, and shredded lettuce. Finally, you get your choice of sauce. I got the chili lime and I got it on the side.
So let's start with the tacos. The tortillas were really crumbly and fell apart really easily. I had to eat my tacos with a fork after the first bite or two, because it ended up being a big pile on the plate. The tortillas were also somewhat cold :( I was really happy with the protein and toppings though. They were pretty generous with both. The pineapple salsa added a bit of sweetness and tang to the tacos. The jack cheese added a slightly spicy kick.
Now let me tell you about the sauce. I was so sad and disappointed with the sauce. It was so oily. I am glad that I got it on the side, because if this sauce was all over my tacos I wouldn't have been able to eat them. So much oil! :( I essentially ate my tacos dry because I didn't use any of the sauce. Please make this sauce less oily!
The staff member making my taco was very nice and he wore gloves when he made them :)
They had some interesting toppings, like jicama slaw. In my opinion, the protein and toppings are better than other fast food Mexican joints like Bar Burrito, Mucho Burrito, etc. and the prices are similar or slightly less. If they had less crumbly corn tortillas, warmed them up a bit more, and less oily sauces (although it may have been the sauce I chose, maybe others are better) I would like this place a lot more. read more
