I've been eating at Nordstrom Cafe since I was like 5 lol. Every city. The Short Hills location is similar to others I've been to, with similar cuisine. Tomato basil is always a hit. It's thick and creamy and so good they sell it to-go as well! I stuck to my old favorites and got the Santa Fe chicken panini with a salad. Had a slight sweet tooth so opted for the carrot cake. Enjoyable for sure! For the Cafe to be a chain, it's not bad for a day out in Short Hills! read more

This restaurant is on the third floor of Nordstrom in the back. You place your order at the counter. the menu is very minimal so I ordered from the children's menu. You pay upfront athen you take your ticket and sit down anywhere and the server will serve you your meal. The mac & cheese was edible because I was starving you also get a drink and a little cup with a few grapes in it. But the desserts look incredible as well as the salads so next time that's what I'll be getting. Today the service at the counter and the wait staff was excellent! However that is not consistent. many times the service is horrible and the people at the counter seem like they don't care. I was severely disappointed in this location of Nordstrom's Marketplace Cafe. It's definitely my go-to place to eat when mall shopping, especially at home in Vegas. First, this restaurant seemed like an afterthought. The small space was oddly triangular shaped and tucked back in a corner upstairs. Second it was so dark, worn, and outdated looking, just sad really. You counter-order like most Marketplace Cafe's, but they don't have any displays showcasing the food, which is probably due to the small size of the space. They also don't have a self-serve soda fountain. We ordered our food and drinks, and went to find a table. There were two other single diners in the restaurant, but we still waited about 5 minutes for someone to come over and take our ticket. Our waitress left to get our drinks and came back about 5 minutes later with them. Then we didn't see her or anyone else that worked in the restaurant for another 25 minutes. We finally walked up to the order counter to ask for drink refills and to check on our food. The girl at the counter said she'd have our waitress come over, which she did a few minutes later, and said she would check on our food. For some reason it took her another 5 minutes to bring our drinks back, but she said our food wasn't ready yet. At this point we'd been waiting 35-40 minutes for a burger and a sandwich. The food came out a few minutes later and my burger was just about warm, nowhere near hot, but the flavor was good. I definitely don't think I'll ever be back to this location, which makes me sad because the Cafe is generally a safe bet. read more

This is an interesting cafe! It's prices are like a normal cafe, but the set-up is like a restaurant. You order and pay for your food at the cashier, then you grab a table and a server takes your receipt and brings your food. They serve bread and butter (nothing special), and water in plastic to-go cups. I got the mac n cheese and creme brûlée. the Mac n cheese was VERY al dente...it was almost too chewy to eat. The creme brûlée was good for the price, but nothing to write home about. They give you these chocolate mint wafers as a palette cleanser that taste like thin mint cookies from Girl Scouts! They're very small though. Overall, the prices are okay, the food's nothing special, but the ambiance is very warm and welcoming. If I don't feel like walking to another store for food I'd definitely visit here again, but probably just to get something light and not too fancy. read more

I come here frequently because I work in the area, but this dish is the reason I'm writing a review. First of all, this place consistently has served their food so quick it's like after I pay and decide where to sit, before I get settled in, I'm already being served my food. That's quite an exaggeration but you could imagine what I'm trying to describe. They're fast! I usually order the Salmon Nicoise or Pepperoni/Mushroom pizza but I wanted to go with something different so I got the Penne Bolognese and oh my god. Sooo flavorful, perfect range of spiciness, pasta is cooked al dente I had to ask for a piece of bread so I can scrape the sauce. Bravo, delicious! read more

After some desperately needed retail therapy at Nordstrom, I was hungry for more, food that is. My fiance and I ate here for a late lunch and ordered a crab cake sandwich and a ham and cheese. While the food was good, my ham and cheese was DRENCHED in oil. I tried my very best dabbing it all off, but my throat still felt oily afterward. The staff is really nice, and the food turnaround time is pretty average. Tip: The layout is a little different- You order when you first come in, get a piece of paper with your order, find your own seat then the waiter comes to get your order. read more

This location has atrocious service. If you aren't dressed in Prada or some other renowned designer's clothing, they won't look at you twice. If you order to go, you won't get bread that is brought to the tables. The guy in the front who greets people is really condescending and only addresses the clientele described above. Maybe my work clothes make me look like I don't belong at The Cafe at Nordstrom. Regardless, I'm never going back here again. The food was okay- shrimp and asparagus risotto and creme brûlée, but the service was excellent! My 18 month old and I came here for a late lunch (around 4pm) during the week. The servers were so polite and kind (even though my daughter made quite the mess). They gave her crayons to keep her busy (and asked if she was allowed before bringing them which is thoughtful). They also timed the dessert perfectly for when we finished our entrée). I read the review that said if you aren't dressed in labels that you won't get good service, but honestly I probably looked like a hot mess, pregnant and cleaning up after my kid, with risotto all over the place. Maybe it was the time of day- we were well passed the lunch hour rush. I'd definitely come back here for the great service alone! read more

The decor and service were not upscale and definitely a mismatch for the upscale department store. The decor is similar to a diner and service was worse than diners. You have to read the menu, order and pay at the door first before you even sit down. The waiters were not specifically rude but didn't care for their jobs. This is the perfect place for a ladies' lunch while you are shopping at the mall. I usually start with the tomato basil soup which you can order in a small serving. Nice tomato flavor with a hint of basil. Then my friends and I split a salad and a sandwich. I've tried most of their salad and my favorite is the blue cheese and pear -- mainly because I love blue cheese. Then for the sandwich, I like both the grilled chicken with sun dried tomatoes and the grilled chicken mozzarella. The chicken is tender and juicy and the bread is nice and toasted. For dessert, they have a cake display at the entrance where you order so make sure you check these out. The service is great, the servers are attentive and friendly. This is a great place to get a coffee if you don't want to wait in line at Starbucks. There is never a line here, and there is plenty of seating as well. It is located inside the Nordstrom on the second floor. It's hidden away and a bit of a secret spot. read more

For a restaurant inside of a department store, I was surprised at the quality and taste of the food. You can tell that everything is made to order and comes out hot and delicious every time.
