I came with my friends awhile back and we easily could've spent an entire afternoon...they stayed about an hour before going to an escape room but I hung out at a piano that I found near the end of my stroll. I blocked off an entire day to come here and made the trip from Charleston while visiting family, so I was really looking forward to it. Unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment. Prices were extremely high across the board, and a lot of booths had items that looked like they were straight from Amazon, Shein, or Temu but marked up significantly. That alone was frustrating, especially for a place marketed as an antique destination. The staff we encountered were also not friendly, which didn't help the experience. On top of that, there was a live band playing somewhere on the property, and the sound carried throughout the entire building. It was loud enough that everyone in our group ended up with a headache, which made it really hard to enjoy browsing. We ended up leaving early, which says a lot considering I had planned to spend the whole day there. Overall, not what I expected, and I wouldn't return. read more

This place is seriously massive! You should definitely plan to spend a few hours here to be able to see everything. It felt a bit crowded for my liking (on a Saturday) - difficult to navigate the booths and aisles without someone being in the way or trying to stand out of theirs. Overall, a large variety of items but we didn't end up finding much of what we were looking for. A few items were priced questionably high, but I can't say this surprised me. My biggest thing to note, and possible reason why I wouldn't return, is that the checkout line was insane. I timed how long we were in line for and it was 45 mins. Just to buy one item. So many people left the line because they grew impatient, and I can't even blame them. It will force you to REALLY be sure that you are in love with the item you're getting. That said, I'm happy with the item I did find and I enjoyed my visit overall. I came here looking for an antique tea set and unique wine glasses. What I found was a plethora of some of everything! Good stuff, not junk. This place is humongous and neatly organized to find some really good quality antiques. Arrival time was about 3pm with the sun still shining. By the time I left (at closing, lol) it was well passed 6pm...time stood still while looking up and down each aisle. My wife heard about this place for antiques and vintage finds and understood it is the largest antique mall in the south. So, we decided to travel the hour to Concord to check it out. We really didn't know how big it was until we pulled into the parking lot, WOW!! We first headed over to the Market area which we understand is a somewhat new addition (separate review). We walked in and were immediately impressed by the quality of the items within the booths. Now are you going to get an incredible deal, likely not, but this is a fun place to explore and get ideas. There was a long line of people waiting for the checkout and they were likely taking advantage of discounted Christmas items which many of the booth were offering at reduced prices. The building itself is very cool, my wife and I both love vintage industrial buildings and this has everything you look for in a vintage commercial space. We took about an hour to explore the perimeter aisles, it would easily take 4+ hours to wander each and every aisle. We will absolutely stop in again and are already planning to take my in-laws when they visit from the west coast this Spring. read more

Clearly the best antique market in North Carolina. The size is just incredible - plan multiple days if you like looking in detail. They have everything you could possibly imagine, with pretty affordable prices. I've brought home numerous items, including a 3-speed vintage wooden record player that has excellent quality. My happy place! Go-to destination for antique lovers, urban adventurers, or anyone just looking to get out of the house on a rainy day. First of all, it's massive. Easily worth a day-trip. Second, the old building (old cotton mill) adds much character & history to any shopping excursion. I almost always find exactly what I am looking for. Some things are over priced but it's to be expected. The only downside is that there almost always is a line to checkout, there's only two registers so it takes awhile, but the employees are nice. read more

I have always enjoyed Gibson Mill. It is a great escape to find antiques, oddities, new items, and fun stuff. I will continue to go, but I know that my recent experience will forever taint future experiences. I found a gorgeous standing mirror while shopping one Saturday with my mom. Purchased it and they said they could hold it for up to seven days and I could come pick it up within that time. Wednesday rolls around and we leave our house in the husband's truck, with an hour before closing (30-minute drive with an anticipated 30-minutes left before closing). Due to unforeseen traffic issues, we pulled in the parking lot at 7 PM and got to the door at 7:02 (2-minutes after they closed). I get that I was late as the women mouthed through the glass window "sorry, we close at 7". So, we left, with the intent to come again the next day and a 30-minute drive home Thursday, we left a little earlier, in storms, accidents everywhere and got there with 5-minutes to spare. Door locked again, and three people inside. I showed my receipt through the window and said you still have 5-minutes before you close. I immediately get told they can't do pick-ups that late, the lights are already off, all the guys had already left (except the one who let me in) and they have to be off the clock exactly at 7 pm. When I was told when I could pick it up, no one mentioned that it could not be picked up that close to closing. The two female staff had really bad attitudes and were rude. I explained that this was my second evening of leaving as soon as we could possibly leave, after my husband left work early, sitting it traffic for nearly an hour each time for different reasons and will have spent 3-hours just in the effort to pick this item up. The gentleman who let me in, looked at me, spoke over the two women and said, "Don't worry, I will go get it for you". As he went to go get it, the first woman, who was the woman there the prior night angrily reached her hand out and demanded she see my receipt as if she didn't believe me and was frustrated that she was being asked to provide excellence in customer service. I get that there are limits on working hours and some people are just there to collect a paycheck and ideally, I would have been there earlier. Would LOVED to have been there earlier actually. Dealing with the stress of kids in the car, traffic, storms, and being late for someone who thinks being "early is on time" is frustrating. It may sound cheesy, but I learned many years ago in customer service training to "Give 'Em the Pickle". I suggest Gibson Mill get their employees to watch it, because it has had a lasting impact on how I treat my customers and clients in my business (Give 'em the Picke, by Bob Ferrell). Giving 4-minutes of their time, a tiny bit of extra effort, is a easy pickle, especially for someone who has spent three hours of stress trying to make it happen. Empathy, compassion, service, excellence and trust are some values that could be instilled in these ladies. Additionally, if you don't believe in assisting your customers until 7, your advertised closing time, then communicate a time for cutting off pick-up - 6:30 maybe? However, the gentleman who said "Don't, worry, I'll go get it for you" should get a shout out in your next staff meeting. He was a an exemplary employee and lead by example. He had empathy, strong emotional intelligence, compassion, excellence and service. To the gentleman who's name I do not know who saw what we were going through and understood....Thank you, a million times THANK YOU! read more

I used to like this place until it became fully commercialized. We went up yesterday hoping to explore all the antiques and variety of vendor booths. It seems it is now the same type/style of items spread throughout all of the "booths". Shabby chic decor and fake antique signs, dishes and other items with a few truly vintage items sparsely sprinkled about. Lots of pillows, candles, and "live, laugh, love"-type signs. It's truly awful. A few yrs ago it was a true antique mall. So disappointed by what it's become. I won't return. While visiting family in Charlotte, my DIL suggested we visit the Depot. What a delightful place. Loads of fun antiques and vintage items. The prices were spot on in my opinion. The vast majority of the booths were very well maintained. It was a little confusing to get around. The aisles were plenty wide to pass other shoppers. The entire space is well lit. There was quite a line at the check out but people were getting checked out quickly. Nice mini shopping carts were available for shoppers. It had a welcoming vibe. We traveled a 6-hour round trip with an infant child to visit this pillar of Concord, North Carolina. We were set on finding the latest and greatest vintage home adornments. We throughly enjoyed our hours-long stroll through the antiquated aisles of this establishment. However, my mother desperately wanted filler for the entrancing vase she bought.
