Beads! Beads! & More Beads! The Bead Lady should change her name to "The Bead Guru" We can thank Hurricane Irma for this visit. Mom visiting Charlotte to escape the pending weather in Florida and just so happens to be a bead fanatic. This has always been a past time for her and she had never been to a bead store so I made it my business to find the best in the surrounding area. As an Elite Yelper, I went to my handy dandy Yelp app and up popped The Bead Lady. I honestly have nothing bad to say about this place so unsure why their not 5 stars instead of 4.5stars. They literally have everything and anything beads. The store has a very vintage feel, very open and clean, tons of inspiration, varying style, unique pieces, say something pieces, single beads, grab bags full of stuff, antiques and the list goes on & on. The owner and staff was extremely friendly, helpful and attentive. My Mom literally stayed mobile for an hour putting all of these beads and pieces in her little carrier. The Bead Lady is a great shop in downtown Concord that offers a great selection of beads, findings, pre made pieces and just about anything you desire to craft your favorite styles of jewelry or gifts! There is a space to sit and work (and people watch) if you like as well. Kathleen, the owner, is very friendly and helpful and always willing to make suggestions or help you find the perfect elements needed to complete your beadwork! My most recent visit was during the Concord Art Walk this weekend and it was so nice to go in and browse (and purchase a few pieces of course!) in this well laid out space with SO many choices! The prices are comparable to other places I've shopped, but the selection and customer service and layout of the store keep me returning to the Bead Lady! I have often wandered in with a picture of a piece I'd like to create (either in my head or copied from a design book) and been so happy to find exactly what I need! I also found out on this trip that there is a ladie's night out scheduled on the first Thursdays of the month with the Bead Lady and the gift shop next door and will definitely have to check this sure to be fun event! read more

I saw good reviews on another site and decided to head into Concord from Charlotte and was pleasantly surprised that I did. They have a wide selection of everything you can think of: from crystals to semiprecious to findings. The layout of the store was nice with multiple rooms (5!), shelving, showcases and hanging displays. I was excited to find a great strand of carnelian sliced with double holes to make some great new pieces at a great price. It was worth the visit for just that one piece, though I couldn't help myself and bought some companion beads. The only reason I give it 4 stars is their dwindling inventory due to the holidays (though still a great amount IMO) and stock recording time. But when questioned about a few items not in stock I was presented with a book of options and anything can be ordered. So if I really wanted something I could get it over time. The staff was extremely nice and helpful and the owner was there also, she was a sweetheart offering to order things immediately if necessary but with no pressure overall. I was able to write down the information on her business card and continue to look around. It was a matter of just emailing her once I made up my mind. Once the beginning of the year rolls around, maybe beginning of February I'll head back in and see if my rating goes up as anticipated. read more

This place is a joke, I can't believe bead stores are an actual thing. The owner told me they charge $15 labor + the cost of whatever necklace or bracelet you picked out. I picked out an $8 necklace and she said it would by $8+ $15 labor so you're going to charge $24 for a beaded necklace?? LOL. The owner was very rude talking loudly and laughing with other employees, she also apparently got offended when I said that $15 labor fee was a lot of money, especially when the labor cost more than the supplies. Unless you're prepared to drop $25-$30 for some beads on a string pass. They sell some nasty looking clothes and shoes too, that are used. Sorry, won't be coming back if you're going to be rude and obnoxious to me. I was mid sentence telling the owner something and a customer walked in and literally walked away from me to say hello to customer. Your social skills and manners are pretty rough. Also, I have spoken to other customers that said they've brought their kids in there and apparently she wasn't very friendly to kids either. Bye Felicia with your ratchet store. The Bead Lady is such a cool shop! One of their specialities is that they can make beads from flowers. I had her make beads from my wedding bouquet and put them on a bracelet. It was absolutely gorgeous and is something I will treasure forever!!! The customer service is impeccable, as is her work!! read more

Not a fan. I had beads rolled from a bouquet for my friends and I paid half up front. The owner decided to take it upon herself to charge my card for the other half without my consent when she was ready to ship my beads. A) You could have gotten my account declined which is a fee for me! B) Consumers are covered under the Electronic Funds Transfer Act. C) This also means she had my debit card information lying around for someone to steal, which is also horrible business practice. Not a fan of her attitude and not a fan of how she does business. I will never go back and I just forewarn you that if you do business with this company, make sure that you pay in full, in person and not on the phone. read more

Wow this store was something else. It went on and on and on. You can buy and create your own bridal jewelry here. I was in the market for some crystals and only in town for an arts festival. I could have spent hundreds in this store. Everyone was friendly and helpful. If they don't have the bead or jewelry you want in here then it probably doesn't exist. All things from plain to totally crazy. From sexy to chic. Truly sensory overload. I left the store happily with multiple items. I wish i didn't live in Florida, i would be back weekly!
