What you're paying for is the location in the heart of Chelsea. Pretty outdoor dining/drinks in the Chelsea marketplace (oh... so THAT'S how they got their name...). A cocktail will set you back at least £8.50, and I would not say that they are the carefully crafted works of art that you'd get at Nightjar or the like, but admittedly, that is just from looking, not tasting.
My friends and I had their burger, soup (tomato), and some bruchetta. I liked the bruchetta a lot, and the soup was edible, but certainly nothing special. Expensive, quite frankly, for what it is (the soup, I mean). The burger looked good, but my friends also said it was good but nothing special. Basically, I had soup (which came with some bread), shared a side of chips, and shared an order of bruchetta (one small piece), and my portion of the total came out to about £10 (with discount which will be mentioned shortly). Not horrible for the area, but... yea.
The waiter's English was a bit rough and we got confused and the order got rather screwed up... He didn't seem so keen on appeasing us, but the manager came over and sorted us all out, got us the correct order, and gave us a generous discount on our bill. This probably would have been a 2 or more likely 1-star review if he hadn't done that, so thanks Manager.
All in all, come here if you are in the area, tired from shopping or whatever, and need a place to grab a quick bite or drink (be aware, they stop serving food early, around 6:00pm) with pretty outdoor picnic tables, cosy blankets, and heating lamps. The food is 2-star, but the setting bumps it up one.
Bottom line: Nice ambiance, but not a foodie destination. read more
