Ingested Broken glass!! Do not eat here! Last Monday morning I went to meet a friends for brunch. I ordered a bottle of water and the server brought glasses for the table. I was served a glass with shards of broken glass at the bottom! I didn't notice that the glass I had been served was chipped and poured my bottle of water into the glass. When I finished drinking I had pain in my mouth and pulled out several sharp small grounds and shards of glass which had cut up my mouth and lodged themselves at the back of my jaw. It was absolutely horrifying and very painful. I spoke with the manager and he apologised saying the cups they use are made of recycled glass and are prone to chipping!! I was horrified. Management knows these cups break easily and are knowingly endangering their patrons. I told them how dangerous this was and told them to pull all the glasses off the floor and check them immediately. We were the only customers in the restaurant at that time but all the employees were just standing around looking confused. He offered to call an ambulance which he then said refused to come so I had to take myself to the hospital and spend the day in A&E and then home observation for the week. This experience has been so distressing. It has been a week now since this incident occurred and shockingly no one from management, owner or their legal has contacted me to follow up. The manager had requested that I emailed them to let them know how I was doing and to follow up and have received no response or acknowledgment they have not even offered a formal apology, or compensation of any kind. Not even a drink voucher (not that I would use it) No gesture of respect for the risks to my health or trauma they have caused. This is the worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant! As a local I pride myself on supporting the wonderful restaurants of Chiswick but I just can't believe this has happened. Im just glad I wasn't dining with my children could you imagine if my six year old had drunk from this glass. There are so many amazing restaurants in our neighbourhood. In the interest of your own health and safety do not dine here! read more

Smoked salmon and dill pate starter was delightful. Taco starter most excellent. Tequila old fashioned divine. Truffle Mac & Cheese very good indeed. Don't miss out on the Roulade dessert. Wow, this was one well attended event. What a privilege to be invited along to one of the special events during the launch week of the latest addition to Chiswick's nightlife options. Let me add first of all that I used to live in Chiswick when the choice was limited to Pizza Express and a couple of pubs, so I'm retrospectively jealous ... The refurbishment of the old fire station has definitely been a success, and this is an absolute improvement on All Bar One. Apparently, this is the third of a new chain of "village bars" and the concept makes perfect sense. I loved the interior, all clean and muted colours, massive bar dominating the main area with loads of casual and more formal seating options - never even made it out to the outdoor area at the back. This will be a local favourite in summer for sure. Not so sure about the choice of greenery though, all prickly cactuses which don't agree with delicate summer dresses. The crowd last night was not representative of Chiswick as everyone was here on special invite. I was the only West Londoner at my table and expect this to become much more of a local haunt, as well as obvious venue for birthday parties and similar. I will be back if invited by a W4 friend but probably won't make this a destination as I am generally drawn further into town rather than out. This is actually in keeping with the concept and I eagerly await the addition of a Notting Hill branch ... OK, back to last night's event which started at 6.30 which meant that I was not the only one lugging about a heavy bag as there was no time to drop my laptop home before making it to the venue. They had special coat racks for the occasion but no provision for bags, I can only hope there will be a proper cloakroom on regular nights. My apologies for being unfashionably early, but I wish I would have been made feel a little more welcome - first impressions count and I just felt awkward as I was left to my own devices after someone crossed my name off the long guestlist. Luckily I didn't have to wait too long until the rest of the Yelp posse arrived, and the prosecco certainly helped me settle in. It was good to get a chance to look at the place before it got too crowded as it really looks rather lovely. We were treated to more prosecco, a choice of three bespoke cocktails and bucketloads of beer - literally! Just as well the evening also included a taster menu of canapes. These ranged from mini portions of fish and chips to a large array of deep fried goodies, including fish cakes and other fillings including spinach, aubergine and pumpkin as well as black pudding ... my favourite were the beef tortillas. There were no copies of the menu, so no way of telling what the food selection will be like on a regular night. I can only hope the choices are a little bit more healthy and hopefully more tasty. My table agreed that while we were grateful to be so generously treated to a free night out, we would have felt resentful paying for the food. Most of the canapes, while beautifully presented, were rather bland and greasy with the pumpkin the only exception to the other extreme - still greasy but far too salty. Not sure if the DJ will be a regular fixture, but the music certainly worked well for this one-off party. Good to see a classy woman on the decks btw, nice touch. Compliments to the waiting and bar staff for coping extremely well with the crowds - a good omen. read more

Went for brunch with a few friends and enjoyed everything. Food was solid, though I must say nothing too spectacular. Standard brunch menu, done just appropriately. I had the eggs benedict, which had a twist of honey roasted hams. Portion was reasonably good -- I finished a double eggs benedict on my own and left feeling filled. Ambience was one of the best I experienced. Venue was spacious (a former fire station), and they did a great job in adding modern, sophisticated decor to complete the atmosphere. Service was generally good. Our dishes were brought out at a reasonable pace, and the waiter came to check on us once or twice. All in all, would return -- especially to also explore the surrounding cute neighbourhood before or after! read more

I'm very pleased this place is still going. Restaurants and bars in Chiswick come and go on a regular basis and this one is on the opposite side of the street which has very little going on in. The interior is very bright and airy, especially nice in summer months when you can sit outside at the back. They serve from breakfast to dinner and have a fully stocked bar near the front so not only does it attract people for food but cocktails and bar snacks. On Friday and Saturday there's also a DJ and the place is open until 1am. I hope they remain open for years to come, a very welcome addition to the high street. read more

Fair. Over priced for the food. The appetizer was not good. Halloumi cheese skewer not good. Salomon crostini is was okay but tiny. The sea bass was good. Chips very good. Chicken sauté like leather. Service mostly absent. Okay wine list. Not sure what the hype is about. read more

2 stars for now...we came here at the opening week, when they were offering 50% off the food bill. I must say that my review is primarily on the service and not the food. On arrival for brunch we had to walk around amongst the diners to find a server, waiter to show us where to sit. There was no one welcoming guests, which was also the case 2 hours later when we left. We were given the opportunity to chose our table - I liked that, and we chose a booth. Our waiter was pleasant and helpful and although they couldn't do burger for my liking, I chalk that up to a busy first day. We were offered a bread basket, however this never arrived. Even after we reminded our young waitress. They walked past our table a number of times but was not served. The main waiter lady, run around with a notice board, discussing break times for the staff around our table. I was perfectly aware how long we would have with our waiters until they were due on their breaks. I found her unprofessional and inconsiderate. I would prefer to not hear the back-office kind of arrangements, but perhaps her asking us about our experience and making sure we were 'happy'. The food: Amazing, tender steak done perfectly to our liking. I am very impressed. The cocktails are also though pricey but great tasting. The dessert was also lovely. The interior: Cosy, comfortable, however the service station need to change so the dirty plates are not handled at the same place as the plates with the ordered food. Plates etc to be washed up were sitting on the service station for the duration of our stay; sitting next to the dishes waiting to be served to customers. These were in full view for us to see. This should not happen. There is a nice small garden, will have a great atmosphere when summer comes. I worry that this was their time to show what we can expect for the future and set a standard, which in my opinion they failed to do. Very poor start from the staff. I would highly recommend this place for the food but unlikely to do so due to the service. Must improve. read more
