I was very stressed not wanting to drive around Rushmore and Needles Hwy with no brake pads and figuring I wouldn't be able to get the van into a shop for at least a day or two. Also, not knowing the area I was worried about getting over charged because I was in a tight spot. I saw that CJ's had good reviews and opened earlier than any other shop. I was there at 720 the morning after getting to town. They got me in immediately and had my van fixed up with new pads and rotors in about an hour and for less than I paid at my usual shop back home! When Rapid Towing picked me and my wife up, I asked for a mechanic shop recommendation. They recommended TDR Garage. The recommendation was a "grand slam home run." See, in my case it wasn't just about getting the car fixed, it was also about rescuing my vacation and the crew at TDR understood that. The car was dropped off just before closing time on Monday. A quick check revealed a punctured gas tank. They gave me a ride to a rental car company and I figured that we would have a few days to explore Rapid City. I was wrong. The next day they were able to locate the parts needed and the car was ready to pick up that afternoon. Between Teegan and the rest of the people in the office and at least two different mechanics, this was a team effort and they did a fantastic job saving our vacation. Even with all the extra efforts, the prices were very fair. Thank you to TDR and the fantastic service they offered.

I contacted the local Chevy dealer, but they didn't feel my situation was any more of an emergency than any other vehicle in their shop and said 2-3 weeks before they could get me in! I tried calling multiple other places as well, but TDR understood my situation and got my vehicle in and out in a couple of hours after moving other local customer's' vehicles around to make room for mine. Life savers if you ask me! As long as the roads are open, I'll be able to head home to Colorado as originally planned. I HIGHLY recommend TDR if you need work on your vehicle.

I looked for a mechanic that worked on Volvos, and I found Thomas Auto Service. They were great! They were able to get me in that day, a Friday, diagnosis the problem, and get me running again. They did not have one of the computer chips on hand and could not get it till Monday - it was a Friday afternoon mind you - but they fixed me up enough, let me know what warning lights would stay on, and got me on my way. I feel I was treated very fairly and honestly. As an out of towner, who would probably never be back again, you worry about being taken advantage of by an unscrupulous mechanic. That was not the case here, at all. They were very honest, and the prices were very good (less than I was expecting, honestly), and it was quality work that allowed me to continue on my journey that day. He looks out for his customers and makes them happy. My van had to be towed a month or two ago. Unfortunately the towing company (not Advanced Auto Repair) did an awful job towing and actually damaged my van. I came to Advanced Auto Repair to get it fixed. The van was making an awful noise that made it uncomfortable to drive. Even worse, I had plans to move across the country to Oregon for a new job in just two weeks. Troy made a spot available for me on short notice and he was able to fix my van in a short time frame. He went out of his way for me as a customer and it really showed. I recommend this place for anyone with car troubles. You will be treated well and the prices are fair. They will not try to take extra money from you.

Checked online and can get the same parts for $200 so by my math that's $800 in labor. Don't stand behind their work either. Several other places in Rapid City that treat people fair.
