Desert unfortunately tipped that scale to 3 stars. We ordered Tiramisu. It was the saddest looking tiramisu. We could tell the bottom was watery and soggy. The cake part was dried out. It does look like either it was too old or it was refrigeration issues. We took a bite regardless to be sure and we could tell by the taste that it was an older cake. As someone who's been in the restaurant industry for 30+ years, that actually could be a health violation. We did send it back and they said they'd bring a new freshly made one... which I declined. They should have done that first rather than offering that after the fact. However, the service is great overall. Just could use some work on certain things. And regardless of the restaurant, the hotel is actually very nice. If I was to be back in the area again, I'd stay at this hotel again but eat at the steak joint across the street at Ironworks hotel instead.

WOW, the Italian beef is the best in the area, sometimes the sandwich is too big... but so good that I stuff myself and somehow finish it. The tortellini is awesome too. Mark's special salad isn't just special it is a meal.... Italian sausage FRESH mozzarella cheese awesome italian dressing. Pizza is great too.... Been ordering carry out there for years. DON'T GET FOOLED BY THE NAME CHANGE FROM "marco's" to MARK's. Same great owner, but some poser chain came to the area with a franchise name of "marco's" so make sure you get the authentic. Mark's is a five star pizza joint for their customer service. Many times Mark has made customizations to his menu for us. We had his new cauliflower pizza crust with plain cheese and another time pepperoni. Both were great! I suggest this place to anyone in the area wanting pizza. Just give yourself 15-20 minutes for pickup. BUT it is worth the wait. Mark has also turned his wraps into salads and they were good. Or changed the wraps contents for us. Great for also calling when you are on your way home from work. Also, they added tiramisu to their menu. I will be trying that soon! :) Good Job Mark. read more

I had given up on pizza, as it didn't work with my diet. Mark's offers a Keto friendly option with his Cauliflower crust pizza. He also has a Gluten Free Cauliflower crust available. Mark himself is a great person. Always treats his customers well. Staff is friendly. They also deliver. read more

I ordered the Italian beef sandwich and it was great. There was about twice as much beef as you get at other places, so it was a good deal for the price. And the staff are super nice and attentive to any concerns you have. A very nice little gem in our small village. read more

I was hopeful they didn't overcook the veal and the Marsala sauce was good. They didn't and it was. Very think veal cooked so it stayed fork tender and the sauce was how it should be taste and texture wise. I order chicken Marsala a lot in restaurant and this had a nice very very light gravy consistency. I prefer it over runny thin. You can order a potato or pasta with dinner. My friend got pasta, I got baked potato. AND y you get special salad with dinner that comes with Italian dressing but I got blue cheese as an option. The one tiny thing there was it was very good dressing, even though I detected little blue cheese. But the salad as pictured was delicious. Anyway service was not perfect but very good. The server was adorable and kind but got our orders backwards twice. Once with salad, once with the main course. But not a biggy. Then later two young men were moving tables together but sliding them more than once making screeching sound that were hard on the ear. Again not a night but they certainly could have lifted them. Perhaps it was emptying out and they wanted us to leave? lol. The atmosphere there was nice, kinda eclectic with industrial type stuff mixed with chandeliers and wrought iron accents. Interesting They have another on State Street in Rockford and this is the newer of the two. I've been told the state street one is always busy so this one opened. I can see why.
