Leaving a 1 star review for atrocious customer service, and somehow having the ability to not honor their own gift cards (which I plan on looking into and making sure a police filing was made prior to our visit). We received 5 ten dollar gift cards, only to have the owner tell us they were not signed by an approved employee, and therefore would not be honored. Furthermore, they then kept the cards (which they claimed were not valid)! It's something special when a local business won't honor their own gift cards and even more special when they humiliate their customers by accusing them of essentially stealing gift cards. I recently (like a week ago) moved to Rockton. Of course, my first thing to do is get some pizza from the place down the street! I'll give y'all the rundown : Food (5/5) : So, I got a small pepperoni pizza and a slice of the chocolate cake. YUM!!! This actually fed three of us, we needed a snack while moving and we all enjoyed the food. It was fresh, crust was amazing. Sauce was amazing and I'm NOT a sauce person! Speaking with the staff, they said the food is all freshly made and I believe that! Also, had to try the chocolate cake (I'm not a chocolate fan but my roomies are) and OMG thank you for making it!! I will be back soon!! Experience (5/5) : I was a walk in with just the plan of ordering a pepperoni pizza to go. It was empty, it was also after 8p, but I was able to talk with the staff, brother and sister (owners kids), they were SO nice!!! I asked questions and of course probably annoyed them because I'm a newbie and talk a lot, but they were soo awesome, sharing things to do in the area and it was so nice to be able to talk to locals about the area without any judgement about where we're from. (Side note, I'm from California and everywhere I go tends to have people who don't like my home state and are standoffish) Price (5/5) : Support your small businesses y'all! They were priced accordingly and I have no complaints. I know how hard it has been to stay open for many restaurants and if they can still be open , creating food for y'all to eat, I'm not gonna complain! Would have given 5 stars just for my chicken parm but come on, people, update your restaurant a little! Rusty framed outer entrance, very old carpeting, ugly tablecloths, spoils your appetite. Can you give us even a little ambience, please?? The whole building looks like it's gone downhill. Yes, I've been here before. Makes you wonder if the whole business is going downhill. Pizza is amazing , but I will have to agree with the other comments on the waitstaff. It's not good service and they always sound annoyed, esp on the phone. I went to pick up my pizza one night, handed them my debit card and was asked if I had cash not just once but twice ( I figured their machine was down) I said no I don't and before I could say anything else, they swiped my card. I was super confused. Hmm.... I do honestly think they need friendlier phone people. The waitstaff shouldn't be sitting down when customers walk in. Great pizza. If you're eating here, the atmosphere is not really inviting, but the food and service make up for it. The lights are bright but that's just the way they are. My wife and I had the Italian Beef Sandwich which we both feel is better than Portillos. We've had it many many times and it always scores high on our list. Won't go back here again! Waited over an hour for a med cheese pizza n chef salad. After an hour I asked if we could just pay for our drinks n go but they were rude. People who ordered after us and were seated after us had their food before us! My boyfriend and I go to the local high school, and even though this occasion happened months ago, it plagues my mind every time we go out to eat. We had randomly dropped in the evening of homecoming and, as expected, it was packed. It took fifteen minutes to be seated without a reservation, moderate considering we had no reservation; however, that is not why I am writing this review. We were placed in a dark, dirty corner of the main dining room and the service, my main issue, was dreadful. After ten minutes of waiting, our waitress decided to grace us with her presence. She took our drink order and, our food order because we simply decided on a medium cheese pizza with bacon and two soft drinks. Soon after, she brought our water, and informed us our pizza would be ready within 15 to 20 minutes. I happened to notice that our waitress had several larger tables in her section of the restaurant, but those quickly began to clear out. After half an hour of waiting for our food, she swoops by (she does not even bother to actually stop and pay attention to us) and says our food will be done soon. 10 minutes later, our food finally arrives. We dine and make the best out of it even thought the pizza is lukewarm and greasy. After being repeatedly ignored by our waitress, we ask another waitress for our check. She informs our waitress who takes 5 whole minutes to bring it over, and I notice we've been charged for drinks. We Never Ever got our drinks. We did not even get water refills after they had run out during the 30 minute ignoring period. If our waitress had even bothered, to pay us a smidge of attention then maybe we would've gotten them. My boyfriend catches her when she is rushing by again- I do not even know what for, her section was cleared besides us- we finally got a chance to inform her of this. She had this look of shock as she took the check and, so kindly asked why we had not said anything then apologized. Hmm, wonder why, maybe because you didn't bother to stop and bother yourself with us? She took it off the check and we paid ten dollars for our pizza. I was raised well by my grandpa's methods and I gave her a pretty tip of five dollars. I have been so regretting it. I should have done my great grandpa's method and put a half of a penny in a full glass. Oh, wait I couldn't have done that now could I? I walked in about 30 minutes before they closed. There were two women in aprons sitting at a table by the front door, but nobody greeted me. I came after work, and I just wanted to sit and eat pizza. It was awkward. After standing by the door looking lost for a minute a woman behind the counter asked "can I help you?" Since I walked into a restaurant I thought that was an odd question, but I replied that I wanted some food. She told me to take a seat and someone would be with me in a minute. Again, it was uncomfortable. It was end of the night and the waitress was busy doing sidework, but the service was still adequate. She took my order and she kept my glass full. Otherwise I was ignored. I still left her $5 on $15. The food was mediocre at best. The crust was dry and reminded me of frozen pizza. My biggest complaint was that there was 1/4 inch of rubbery cheese covering everything. I had to use a knife and fork because biting into that cheese meant pulling ALL of the cheese and other toppings from the slice. In closing, the food was not very good and most of the staff was pretty unprofessional, but it's close to my work and fairly inexpensive so I'll probably go back...just not anytime soon. read more

This restaurant caters to rural Illinois. That's not a bad thing, just bland. As with most rural restaurants it focuses on portion size over quality ingredients. This clearly pleases the patrons, its a very busy place, filled with an inordinate amount of pregnant-looking men (my wife noticed this) and I saw someone with at least a size 70 waist! We ordered pizza and spaghetti and our son liked them. We ordered salad (I know, what were we thinking) and it was half-bad iceberg smothered in dressing. If you're looking to put your feedbag on then this is the place for you. If you'd like something fresh and well-seasoned look elsewhere. read more

Sam's Pizza in Rockton has a lot of things going for it like cheese, grease, generous toppings and it is fairly inexpensive. This isn't the best pizza in the world by any means, but it good enough to be repeatedly ordered. On a side note this Sam's Pizza is famous because the Rockton man, that was later found to have a bulletproof vest and a couple hundred guns, who shot at the delivery driver because he was late? The pizza is affordable and delicious. The owner is personable and receptive to the needs of the customers. My only criticism is that some of the older patrons tend to "rule the roost" when they are present on the weekends. One weekend, a gaggle of particularly obstreperous geezers pissed and moaned to the manager about the volume of the jukebox, which ultimately resulted in the tunes being killed during the first chorus of Rush's "Lumelight." I ordered a lasagna and a meatball sandwich with cheese. I received my order and found a nice slice of lasagna and another container with two tiny meatballs floating in sauce with cheese melted on top. What the??? When I called Sams back the girl who took my order argued with me and said I did not order a meatball sandwich just a meatball with cheese and they would charge me over $5 to deliver a sandwich to me. I think SAMs is the best pizza in the Roscoe-Rockton area. It is inexpensive and not lots of dough in the crust. I'd suggest trying it.

I have tried over the last year to like this establishment, but there is no way. The customer service lacks and the pizza is a close second. My last pizza ordered was a thick crust. They actually lay one pizza crust over another and Wallah! Magic :) Instant crust. But not really. It's about 5 inches thick and it separates when you bite into it... and it is not completely cooked in the middle. You can smell the raw dough. Super Yum. The dough that is cooked resembles cardboard. No elasticity, no bubbles, no chew. It think it's the recipe for paste in kindergarten. Water plus flour. Not sure. read more

If you have kids order a picture of pop because each drink has no refills. Tell them do not put ice in the Picture and only put ice in the glasses then you'll get more pop. The entrance to the place is looks like crap my dad was going to come with a can of paint and paint it for them. he told me to do it three times I said no. It's an older building but it is clean they have a place to have a private area for you if you want a private party. The pizza crust is homemade and it's very good. They have carry out pizza carry out food and it's done really well. I've been coming here 30 years and is still good food. They have beer on tap and and bottles along with wine. Horrible horrible horrible customer service. My family has been ordering pizza from here at least once a week for years. Tonight I paid in cash for my dinner pick up. I intended to give the cashier $30 for a $21 total but accidentally gave $50 when 2 $20 bills stuck together. I noticed before I even pulled out of my parking spot, went back in, and explained what had happened. The teenager that took my money said she didn't notice and the woman who I believe is the owner immediately got completely defensive. I was polite and apologetic for my mistake and simply asked if I could leave my phone number and have them call me if their drawer was over by $20 at the end of the night which just made the owner even more upset. A man who I assume is her husband came over and claimed he saw this happen although he couldn't remember if it was from me or another customer. Why he just stood there and watched me overpay without saying a word until I went back in for my money is a little concerning. The female owner started snapping at him asking what she was supposed to do. He just shrugged and said "I don't know but I saw the 2 $20s and a $10". So she took a $20, threw it at me, and said "here, have your $20 back". All the money we've spent on their sub-par, imitation Italian food, we will never ever be back after this "customer service" and neither will anyone that I know. read more
