This diner is uber-sketchy, but it has the best garbage-- erm... sloppy plates in town.

Went there the other night with my friends pretty late, I have never had such horrible service. My friends got garbage plates and I got chicken fingers. We waited about 45-60 minutes for our food to come out. The guy told us that it was because of the chicken fingers, chicken fingers should not take this long! I wasn't that mad but my friend was and when he went to Mark, Mark told us that he didn't care that he was too busy. He walked away from us while we were trying to talk to him. So then we told him that we wouldn't come back and he told us that he didn't care, that he had a line outside the door waiting. I understand that the restaurant was busy but that doesn't mean that he shouldn't care about his customers. I have never been treated so poorly at a restaurant in my life. The worst part is that the chicken fingers weren't even that good! The bbq sauce was crappy and it cost $7 for 4 chicken fingers! After an owner tells me that he doesn't care about my business, what is the point of going back? I will never go there again. read more

Marks has become the best diner in the area. Just don't go there after 1am as it is packed and considerably sketchy.

Let me just say... phenomenal... PHENOMENAL! 10/10 the pizza burger was to die for! Once in a life time cuisine! Literally order it.

I've been to Mark's Texas Hots countless times over the past ten years. I've had the best of times and I've had the worst of times. Usually the wait staff there is pretty good. They always seem friendly enough, so there's no cons there. The clientele is usually where things can go from good to bad. Depending on what time of day you, well honestly, it doesn't seem to matter what time of day. You can encounter frat boys, hipsters, drunks, loud and obnoxious people, and everything in between; and often all at the same time. I've had too many experiences where I thought someone would pull a gun out (and it's happened there, on at least a few occasions); that I mostly just order take out. When I order food, it's usually a garbage plate because it's one of the best that I've had in Rochester. They give you a massive amount of food consisting of hamburgers, mac salad, home or regular fries, onions, and their signature meat sauce. Regardless of what's going on in the dining room, it doesn't seem to affect the culinary wizards back in the kitchen. If I was judging this place on diner food alone, it would be a five. Since I'm also encompassing the varied clientele and environment of the place, I have to drop it down to four. read more

Love this place!! Late night weekends? Yes its loud....yes the customers are really obnoxious!! But its really an experience...and the staff save the night! They are funny, tolerant, schooled in the art of verbal judo....awesome! The food is typical diner fare...greasy spoon. But its well prepared, quickly served. Always hot and flavorful! Best garbage plate in Rochester...hands down!! And get the peanut butter milkshake....whoah!! Daytime, more of the same, just less people....less obnoxiousness! read more

Its nice to come here during their off peak hours. You can sit at any open table. Decent price for late breakfast. Friendly wait staff. Too bad they don't have waffles. Sometimes parking can be a pain. read more

I have to be honest...this place is just middle of the road at best. The only reason I ate here so much (and I mean 40+ times) was it's proximity to all the local bars....and of course their version of the garbage plate. Other than that.....it's barley average. Marks can be a bit hit or miss. High staff turnover makes service inconsistent. Had to ask Tiffany to wipe food off counter before she took our order. Last time there we had to send coffee back because of filthy cup. Have also had some great breakfast s and the place has a lot of characters. Will probably try again read more

Last night I had my car towed while eating there. No warning. Was parked in the back lot. Left after eating and my car was gone.

Hello, I'm new to Yelp so this my first review. Usually this is the place my three best friends and I come when we are smashed, so this is the first sober experience here at Marks Texas Hots. We walk into this restaurant and the first thing we notice is that it has a wide variety of plants and a very interesting decor. We got a huge whiff of cigarette smoke upon opening the door. We were directed to sit at a booth which has gum on the bottom of it, we found out the hard way. (Table 12) We were given water but because we are poor college students, we had to make our own lemonade with lemon slices and sugar. The food came surprisingly fast which for us is strange because we when are hammered it feels like it takes forever. I ordered eggs over easy with home fires and wheat toast (cheapest thing on the menu), we all ordered this except for one. He splurged and got a sloppy plate full of beans, fries, and burgers. We all agreed that the eggs definitely came from real chickens and the home fries were fresh off the grill. My friend with the sloppy plate said "it really sparked his taste buds". Our waitress was very nice, she called me hunnie, and put a smiley face on the check. My friend was even able to pay in quarters!! Only $4.59!! What a great price!! Overall, we left with smiling faces, full bellies, and the sweet smell of cigarettes. Follow up... The next morning was a very rough experience. Immediately when I woke up I was glued to my toilet. I even had to swim at 6 am and eating Texas Hots at 11 pm the night before was probably a mistake. It got me asking myself a very important question... Was the food worth the pain the next morning? food is horrible poorly prepared. easily one of the worst garbage plates i have ever had. they refuse to deliver and when I say deliver I mean a couple buildings down the road to a business, even when offered compensation. probably the worst customer service I have ever experienced. will never go again read more
