Had a terrible experience with the employee there that knows nothing about his own country's firearms laws and policies. You would think that someone who sells firearms would be well informed of the rules and regs of the inventory he is selling. My two buddies and me flew into Canada from The States with our shotguns for a three day geese and duck hunt.
We bought enough shells for two days from Cabelas with no problems because we had our lawful and necessary documents to do so. The experience of trying to lawfully purchase shells from this place was a complete 180 compared to Cabelas, a chain company. Keep in mind, we always try to support local businesses. When we attempted to purchase shells from this place, a power-tripping dude asked us rudely and sternly, "where's your PAL?" and, from the information we got from the well informed staff at Cabelas, we told him, "we don't have one because we are non-residents on a hunting trip, but we have our non-resident firearm declaration form." He rudely tried to tell us that that was not a legal document. We explained how it is legal and that we already had purchased ammo from Cabelas. His reply was loud and defensive stating that it is not a legal document because it doesn't have a picture. He was Damn near screaming "it doesn't have a picture!! It doesn't have a picture!!" I asked him, "why would we be able to fly shotguns into this country and then not be able to purchase ammo?" He seemed stumped and just said, "I'm not going to loose my license for this!" So I then asked what can we do in the future. Again very rude and short was his reply, "GET A PAL!" I asked, "how?" His response, "APPLY. TO. THE. FEDERAL. GOVERNMENT!!" I asked how again. He only yelled, "I'm not gonna loose my license to make a measly $10 from you people!!" I was seconds away from ACTUALLY doing something unlawful. But, from what I've learned from my past, it is better to just walk away and not let someone ruin my day or my livelihood. Apparently he followed us outside, but I tuned him out and was thinking about puppies in order to calm down. Lol.
Anyway, I truly hope he sees this and reads the screenshot of the federal laws of his country from their Federal government's website in order to know about his laws for the next visitors coming to experience this beautiful country. Oh yeah I also want him to this: Being the only local gun store doesn't make you have the power to talk down on people. You are nothing without your customers. They are the ones that keep you in business. So treat them and everyone else with respect until they give you a reason not to. That's what my dad taught me. I respected you when I walked in that store. You had none of my respect when I forced myself to walk out. read more
