Also, she goes well beyond just basic treatment--there is real discussion about the root of what is causing issues. Flora is not only knowledgeable and progressive in her practice but a warm and positive person. I hope to see Flora again for another treatment the next time I return to Kauai.

After a week on the island, my allergies started acting up. Afraid it would worsen and turn into a…read moresinus infection which happens regularly to me on the mainland, I sought help. After comparing acupuncturists on the island, based on experience, gut, price and availability, I decided on Flora. Her experience does not come inexpensively, but it was worth it. I had a bizarre illness the previous year that started similarly and had me out for 8 weeks. This time around, it was crucial to treat the problem in a different way. I was hesitant at first because I hadn't planned on spending the money, but also because I had never had acupuncture before. But my husband and I figured, if it helped it would be worth it. And it was. After a sleepless night feeling congested and waking up fatigued and miserable with allergies, I called Flora. She answered immediately and provided her availability the same day. If you are lucky enough for acupuncture to be covered by your insurance, she will provide you with a super bill so you can submit it to your insurance. When it came time for the appointment she said it could last between 1 to 1.5 hours. Her office was unavailable but we could use the physical therapy/chiropractor's office she uses in Hanalei. I was familiar with the location and thought the setting was just fine. After a thorough consult, she told me her game plan. She had even attempted to find some natural allergy relief pills for me at the health food store on her way into town. Unfortunately, they were out but she was able to find them from the health food store downstairs, before our session ended. Flora explained each step before she performed it and was honest about what it would feel like. At the end of our session, I felt less congested. She gave me a game plan of herbs I needed to take to stay healthy and s paper bag with those herbs at the end of the session. For the next 24 hours, I took it easy, didn't work out, ate well and followed Flora's game plan for me. I felt much better by the next day. Moreover, I could breathe! A few days later, my husband and I both felt a sore throat coming on, we both started on the Chinese herbs that Flora suggested and I'm already feeling better after the first day. If it is the fear pain that is holding you back from trying Flora, don't worry about it. It doesn't really hurt. Some areas might be sensitive, but as Flora says, "it's a good friend telling you what you may not want to hear but need to hear." If it's money holding you back, I would say, is it worth your time to be in pain, discomfort or be sick? Some things are worth the money. After spending 2 months of my life quarantined from friends and family and at the mercy of doctors and specialists, I couldn't risk it again. I had to try something different. I'm glad I did. I hope that next time we come to the island, I can plan to work with Flora again for general health and well being. I'll also know, that if I get sick while traveling, Flora will be here to help put out a fire. I would recommend Flora to anyone. Don't give it another thought, call her and schedule an appointment. Thank you for sharing your gift, Flora!

The grounds are stunning, with gorgeous tropical plants & flowers everywhere you look. Around sunset, 3 whippoorwills showed up and started singing to each other in the trees. I swear it was like they put on a show for us! Overall it was a magical experience. Cool citrus water was provided. Bring your own towels or rent one for $5. It seemed the cafe was not operating while we were there, so I picked up dinner at a restaurant a few minutes down the road while my sweetheart got his massage. We each had a wonderful 1-hour massage with Lila Lara. She is fantastic! That was the best massage of my life, an integration of Swedish massage, lomi lomi, and craniosacral. Ask them to book you with her when you schedule a massage! I wish we had arrived earlier in the day and booked 1.5 hours for massages. There were a few other people at the pool and a caretaker who checked in with us frequently. This was a great way to get relaxed at the start of our vacation! My pics don't do it justice but you can trust the pics from the website and social media pages - it IS that gorgeous.
