After experiencing the treatment we got, I do NOT recommend this yoga studio. The owner (the younger one, not the mom) told us there were NO openings in classes this week. When she learned we were not residents, she became extremely off putting and short with us. We thanked her and went to look around the small store a bit in shock. Within 3 minutes another woman walked in, and she told her they had a number of openings in most of their classes available this week. I couldn't believe it. I wanted to say something, but chose not to. Clearly, this yoga studio is NOT WELCOMING to visitors. Yoga shouldn't be about discriminating who should take your classes or not. We are aware that it's a "private studio", but all that means to them is that this studio picks and chooses who comes in. Doesn't seem very "spread peace & love". We are from east coast city area and very familiar with snobbery, but this owner takes the cake. I would recommend to the owner, that if you aren't going to welcome, or don't value people "visiting" Princeville who are hoping to share the joy of yoga (even though tourism is the number one industry in Kauai) then have a sign stating only residents are welcome, because the way you make a visitor feel simply coming into your studio/store in a tourist shopping center is sad. Do better!

I was really hesitant so I waited about 6 months before I made time and made it my intent to try Thais' class in Ashtanga Yoga. Don't wait as long as I did to experience this wonderful human being. Although I am Indian (Asian Indian, not Native American) and have tried yoga before, I decided that I did not need it in my life and "working out" would suffice for me. I had also been persuaded by some of my religious peers not to take any yoga classes because it was spiritually "bad." The experience I had with Thais was anything but "bad." I had stretched kinks out of my body, had greater realization of my body's aches and pains and I even felt taller after I left the class. I had a new awareness of my breath and being in the present. Thais is completely relaxing and challenging at the same time. She does not believe in making yourself stretch till you have pain. She prides herself in allowing her students to hear what their bodies are telling them. I am completely blessed to have found her on this small island. She really knows this practice well and is very kind to her students. With her Brazilian accent and pursuit of joy and happiness- you don't want to miss this instructor. I picked up some good tips and advice, but unfortunately only found time to attend practice one morning during the week I was on vacation. During savasana, they drop a fragrant flower on each student! Nice little memento. Eagle gave me some of their studio's stickers and cards as I left--more souvenirs! Small class sizes and fun atmosphere. If you're visiting the area it's a nice little studio to fit in a workout. Both classes were hot - that infrared heat is no joke - and both were hard! Kicked (and sculpted) our butts! We were dripping in sweat and we were a good sore after each. I'd frequent this class if I lived nearby! Bring your own mat, towel, and water. They provide the weights/props. $28 for a drop-in seemed very reasonable! Thanks for a great two classes.

Her calm voice leads you through 90 minutes of outdoor yoga, grounding your practice with nature and the stunning views, and maybe even catching a view of a few dolphins playing off in the distance. Her yoga class is a must-do every time you are in Princeville or can drive over for an early morning session on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. We took the class on a Friday, and it was gorgeous weather with low humidity. On Monday, the weather gave us rain, but the elements did not deter the class, and instead, we embraced the beauty of centering ourselves and feeling the flow between stretches, energizing our core and our minds. I found the practice beautiful and peaceful.
