Alright, I suppose it's about time for me to write this review. I've been going to Marlow's Fitness since January 20th. I know that exact date because that was the date I read the Yelp reviews and texted a couple of friends and held my breath and jumped in this "Marlow's Movement" thing whole hog. It was... painful. It many ways. Physically of course with the weight lifting and whatnot. But also emotionally. It's bizarrely difficult to go from a generally sedentary lifestyle to something that requires five days a week and twice on Saturdays. Not. Joking. It's like slipping into someone else's life. It's not bad -- just uncomfortable. His program uses a couple of things to get you to show up and keep going. 1. Accountability: You're accountable to your team and to the program. Your participation, steps, team, weight goals, etc are all being tracked through your fitbit and myfitnesspal. 2. A reward system: If your team or you "win" the program, then you go on an all expenses paid trip to Cancun. You stay at an all-inclusive resort with the other winners. 3. Community: Since all classes are small (14 peopleish) you get to know everyone else in the movement. You become this kind of "we're all in this together" family. 4. Uncomplicated Workouts: 30 minutes of whatever cardio you prefer and 30 minutes of 45 second intervals of weights/body weight exercises. Also you'll participate in some external activities - 5Ks, Saturday morning walks, a scavenger hunt. I lost weight and continue to go to class, building my muscle, getting in better shape and it's legitimately the first time I've been able to keep it off and continue to workout. Other than Marlowe being the nicest guy in the world, I really enjoyed this workout. It's not too intense, while being effective at the same time. But my favorite part? It was only a 30 minute workout. Divided into short circuits that rotate over the course of 30 minutes, you never get bored and feel the burn! Marlowe is also so attentive to every one's workout and safety, but also challenges you a bit. It's a laid back atmosphere that creates a more community feel rather than a competitive one. I joined Marlow after having my first child to jump start my overall fitness and well being. I had no prior experience in circuit training and could barely perform any of the exercises at first. With Marlow's encouragement and the fun atmosphere of each class, I slowly got stronger. I lost inches and looked forward to every workout..The workout is a combination of circuit training and some cardio. Marlow also provides guidance on fitness and basic nutrition. I have been working out with Marlow and known him for 12 years. He is the best trainer. Period. If you want a really excellent workout, efficiently, Marlow's Fitness is perfect. I have been working out with Marlow for 7 years. In that time frame my body has completely transformed. I am almost 50 years old and in the best shape of my life. Over the past 7 years have battled a few rounds of cancer treatments. Working out consistantly with Marlow has given me the strength and endurance to overcome the challenges that I faced daily while going through treatments. My mornings have changed and my mornings have changed me. 6:30 am happens to be a high point of my day. By 6:30 not only have a accomplished something meaningful and healthful I have a feeling of accomplishment that makes my day move to a different beat. Having a class starting at 5:30 am is the only way I can fit one more thing into my busy schedule without taking time away from a full time job and full time kids. Well that definitely was the WORST experience I have ever had with a personal trainer in my life. For one there was no type of greeting or welcome upon entering the facility which is something that is important for most people especially if it being your first time at the gym and you want to feel welcomed in such a small facility. Secondly, if you are new you are made to feel like an outsider as you are not explained the process of the class, the routines, other guest do not speak to you, and the trainer does not communicate with you at all. You are thrown on a treadmill for a whole 30 minutes which to most or at least me seems like something I could have completed at the gym and not at a Circuit Training Class! What is most unfortunate is that I really was excited to attend this class because of the high reviews and it's never a good feeling when your time and money is wasted. I would NOT recommend this gym at all, especially because it was the owner himself "Marlow" who was the one displaying this type of behavior. read more

Need encouragement to get started? Marlow encourages you without making you feel like you should have been there long ago. As I've gotten older, he is right! You can be healthy and old; or, you can be old and unhealthy. It's not that hard. The circuits are not boring by any means and he'll work with you no matter what level you're at. Whether a beginner or you've been doing this a long time, Marlow guides and directs you with professionalism but in a nurturing/ caring way that makes you know that you can obtain the goals that you have for yourself in exercise and diet. I am a mother of four with a very busy, hectic schedule. I've worked with Marlow for the past 4.5 years, through my last 2 pregnancies. With Marlow's guidance, I am in the best shape I've ever been in. 16 weeks ago I joined a gym. Nothing new there, I have joined many in my day. What made this one different was many things-- one being that I was joining a fitness competition. This competition required many things. 3-5 high intensity workouts a week, tracking calories, measurements, weekly weigh ins, running 20 miles per week, and runninga 5k, a 10k and a Scavenger Dash. I thought this was crazy. "Who Me, " I thought? " I am NOT a runner." Well, I wasn't, but I became one. I started with small weights, and by the end was lifting heavy ones. I for sure pushed myself way beyond what I thought was possible. When the 16 weeks were over, I was able to look back with amazement at what was accomplished. My fiance lost 41 pounds, and gained a trip to cancun. ( The 16 week competition sends several winners to an all expenses paid trip to cancun every year.) I lost inches, and gained muscles and confidence. I highly reccomend Marlow to anyone looking for a positive, supportive workout enviornment, to anyone who wants a competitive edge, or for anyoen who wants to make regular working out part of your daily life. I have gotten back to my high school weight working out with Marlow. I like his smaller group classes and love his positive but not overbearing attitude. Yearly he has a fitness contest from January - May and the winning participants get an all expense paid trip to a beach resort. I have been lucky enough to be on the winning team two years in a row and had a great time going on a free vacation!
