I was floored reading the negative reviews. I volunteered with New Life for many years and in…read morethose years this rescue is good beyond wildest dreams. This organization has shown me that miracles do occur. They are family run and they take the most vulnerable and special needs. They take each and every detail seriously. Complaints over the nature of the contract? Let me tell you- I've rehomed over 200 animals. I made probably 3 serious mistakes. And I will never stop blaming myself. I belief that if the founder/director of New Life had been the ultimate say-so over those decisions-- those mistakes would not have occurred. Animal Rescue is not a business though many accuse us of this- they haven't seen our vet bills or unpaid hours of sweat and tears- (we have many). Volunteer for a while with helpless, life threatened and abused animals. You may change your mind about this bitter vengeance.

One star. I'd love…read moreto have had an experience with New Life, but as you can see by looking at their feed on Facebook - they seem much more interested in crowdsourcing donations than on animal adoption. Maybe it's me - maybe I misread their purpose, and what they do is care for animals, rather than find them new homes. But I came across New Life on Petfinder, and inquired about one of their dogs. I sent an email to them directly to redouble my efforts and was told to fill out their application, which I did immediately. I confirmed, right then, via email, that I'd completed the application. A week goes by, and I find out that they have done a little digging on me - no phone calls, but definitely researching me online using information they could only have gotten from my application. I ask for an update and receive nothing. At two weeks I ask for an update. Now I'm told there are 2 critical cases that are taking up 100% of the time that would have been used to check my wife and I and every other adoption applicant out. I check the Facebook feed, and see many, many updates on Wilma and Betty, the 2 "critical case" puppies. Pictures of them feeding, sleeping, awake. Many lengthy written updates. Many lengthy written responses within those updates. I mention having seen the updates and hope for the best, and I ask for a timeline and/or a referral to another rescue. Then I am told that the adult dog I was interested in meeting - a dog who is described as "very timid in new situations", whose "favorite thing is cuddling" and who should be in a house with another dog "to build her confidence" - this dog is now not compatible with cats. This was determined "after further testing" which apparently had happened the very second I inquired about my status, because it hadn't at any time prior. And not a single call was made to a reference, nor was a referral made to another agency - just "good luck in your search". So, a couple of weeks later, we are exactly where I was when we began. Except for my ignored efforts in applying for and getting updates on that application for adopting one of the animals at the rescue. But their crowdsourced donation request program is going strong, so at least there's that. And they appear to have a HUGE number of 5 star ratings from people who freely admit not having tried to adopt from them.
