This is the worst place to work for and eat out of They have no serve safe cooks and the rat infestation is disgusting. They serve food that is over a week expired, and they turn children away from their services... They allow ppl who were fired to come back and stare down new employees in a threatening manner. They do not care about the city of Camden or the children, they don't not care about anything but the thousands of dollars they get in donations that they do absolutely nothing with! I love Cathedral Kitchen Cafe! When I'm in Camden for a work day or around noon, I try to stop to pick up a sandwich or salad. I have brought food home and saved it for a quick takeout dinner on a busy weekday. My favorite item is the Harvest Salad with chicken, walnuts, dried cranberries and blue cheese. This spot in Camden is worth the lunch trip or detour. It's like the local version of Panera. And you're supporting a great nonprofit to boot. read more

Cathedral Kitchen offers an array of supportive measure to help the community in Camden. They operate in a new building with a cafeteria that seats about 275 people. They are no normal soup kitchen nor your average food pantry; Cathedral Kitchen is the future of nonprofit industry. A beautiful, newly constructed space, Cathedral Kitchen operates as a community center for anyone who needs a warm meal. It is open to all ages and people ages 16 and up are encouraged to volunteer to do everything but cook the food. The Kitchen is where a lot of the magic happens. CK runs a full-time culinary arts training program. About a dozen applicants out of several thousand are selected and are enrolled for a free job-placement training program. There is a 75% rate of graduates gaining employment as a chef after completing the program. The food that they cook could easily be served in a restaurant and trust me when I say you'd like it. As Chef Jon candidly told me and (I'm sure) many others: "If we won't eat it, they don't". If you would like to volunteer, you can do so between the hours of 3:30-5:30pm on weekdays and 11:30am-1:30pm on Saturdays. If you are concerned about safety: Don't be. CK has their own private security and most everyone who comes in is extremely appreciative. The last thing 99.99% of the recipients would like to do is stir up trouble because they know they won't be allowed future entry if they do so. In addition, Cathedral Kitchen offers medical care and oral surgery (provided by local professionals on a pro-bono basis). I just got back from an enjoyable lunch with two work associates at the new CK Cafe in Camden, NJ. I ordered the Gateway, delicious grilled shrimp with a light wasabi sauce and cucumber slices on a baguette. The roll was fresh and slightly lathered with the wasabi sauce. The shrimp was cooked perfectly. I was a little concerned that the wasabi could be a little overpowering, but I was pleasantly surprised at how it all worked perfectly. Both of my associates ordered the Marlton salad, grilled chicken atop greens with grapes, strawberries, almonds and feta cheese topped with a light raspberry vinaigrette.They raved about the freshness of the ingredients and how the different tastes worked so well together. Oh and we ordered the sweet potato fries to split - out of this world. We are already planning our next trip! read more
