I have enclosed the photos of different. They are beautiful and lovely . There are huge parking lots around the shops , free Wi Fi and public restrooms. In the morning it is quiet , many coffee shops and breakfast places are open . The sky is blue and the sun is not too much at 9 am . We got some nice breeze and 65 F outside . It is perfect . An entire year here and I literally see no one buying anything in any of the stores, regardless of the season. It feels very pretentious. Each store, each window has the same exact thing - no color, no life. Each store equally more expensive than the next. I have come to learn that the building owners sought a "vision" and pushed out previous stores here to have what it does now. Each store front pushes mute colors, I walk into a store $600 for the most boring top I have ever seen, and this carries on through each and every store here. Not to mention, a lot of the stores push concerning stereotypes and visions of women's bodies. There's a select few stores I love here, Outerknown (you are awesome) and Aesop, are what keeps me coming back - other than that, it's a sad shopping experience and I actually really enjoy shopping at a lot of malls. Sad, uninspiring. This mall is now pushing sad and concerning shopping and fashion culture. This is unrealistic, false expectation setting. It is deplorable.

The great thing about the Stanford Treasure Market is that you never know what you're going to find. This biennial sale is a major fundraising event for the Cantor Arts Center at Stanford. Donations of tchotchkes, artwork, and even antiques are collected over the course of two years and then put up for sale to raise money for the museum. Last time I went, my sister found a beautiful Japanese scroll for much less than she would have paid at an antiques store. This year a friend bought a nice woodblock print for $10 and a silver bowl for $25--both had been marked down an additional 50% on Sunday, the final day. I was fascinated by the grouping of black and white photographs which had clearly been donated by a ballet lover. I had to talk myself out of a wonderful portrait of Mikhail Baryshnikov. That, and the set of nine Limoges plates. Sigh. If you're the type who likes browsing estate sales or watching Antiques Roadshow, this event is a must-do. Go early for the best selection, of course. I saw a number of items I would have liked, but they already had sold tickets on them. Or take a risk and wait for the final day of the sale to see what treasures are still available for bargain prices.

SO Why only three stars. Ownership of the area seems to be divided among several individuals. And while I freely admit its not my property it seems that many cannot even be bothered to provide basic maintenance of the property. Its dirty and dingy in spots. There seems to be a fair amount of turnover. According to a Mercury News article from 2016, one poorly maintained section generates over $30K an month. I can only imagine what it is now. Constant rent hikes and the like force out businesses. The mall needs a makeover, along with better signage, etc.
