I decided it was best to park on the roof and take the escalator down to ground level.....right to the restaurant! While I was there, I walked around to see what the indoor mall was like. It's a nice shopping mall with a variety of shops, restaurants, and services. The North Mall has a huge "Dining Terrace" which includes an outdoor patio with fire pits. I like the hand washing area. I heard stories that the owners of the mall want to tear down the enclosed mall and build a mixed use open air mall. The plan is yet to be approved. I like Hillsdale Mall the way it is.

The visitor seating area next to Foot Locker smells like throw-up, and the carpets and seats are stained and grimy, like they haven't been cleaned in months. All of the trash bins outside are constantly overflowing, and you can find trash and debris scattered everywhere, which makes walking around gross and unpleasant. During Christmas, the Santa chair for photos is black, sticky, and completely gucky, making what should be a fun experience with kids feel disgusting. The overall smell, dirt, and lack of maintenance make this mall feel unsafe and unhygienic -- honestly, I would never come back and would warn anyone I know to avoid it.

Also luxury brands like Hermès, Louis Vuitton, Shreveport & Co., Tiffany and popular retailers like Apple, Lululemon, and Kate Spade." Personally, we've dined at Fleming's Steak House, The Melt, McDonald's, True Food Kitchen, and recently Pacific Catch. They recently added a new section which is always fun to see.

It's actually a mix of different restaurants, hair salons, banks, a liquor store, and the Marina Food Market. In fact, the shopping center directory includes the Denny's Restaurant and the Hotel in the rear of the property. I visited the shopping center twice recently. Once at 330pm on a Saturday, and the other time was 5pm on a Friday. Both times, I just wanted to visit the Sheng Kee Bakery. I had a better experience on the Friday at 5pm. Parking was alot easier. Okay, I don't like the parking lot. It's the "perpendicular parking" or the "90-degree parking" design. If there's lots of spaces, I like to park "nose out" so it's easier to leave. Or I park on the outer perimeter spaces, so there's nobody behind me. My truck has a rear backup camera, so I have better safety when backing up. Great safety feature to have on your vehicle in tight parking lots like this one. Or, you can just park in the Denny's parking lot, because it was empty on both days I was there. The anchor business is probably the Marina Food Market, which is an asian market. The area around the shopping center is commercial/residential, so there's a need for a food market nearby. (FYI- apartments are commercial property). Marina Plaza actually has a great location, but it seems like it needs better tenants to draw more customers. The plaza looks nice from far away, but up close you can see it's age. I did some research, and based on real estate data.....Marina Plaza was built in 1968. Around dinner time, food trucks park along the curb. Exiting the lot can be hard, be prepared to wait or use the side driveway near the Marina Food Market. Come by and visit, maybe you're find a business you like. Located near East Hillsdale & S Norfolk, across from the Shell Gas Station. The Plaza is next to the Dennys and Chase Bank.
