Please accept my most sincere apology for complaining about the office experience in a previous review. The actual results of my acupuncture treatment were VERY favorable. I was experiencing "crippling" pain in my back due to what I later learned was a herniated disc in my vertebrae (sp). After a number of days, I realized I had not experienced more than 10% of the pain I experienced prior to the acupuncture treatment. Knock on wood, I still (10+ weeks) have not experienced much pain at all. For that, this business deserves a much more favorable rating than my initial review. Again, my apologies for the unfavorable review. I came for help and most importantly, I got the help I was seeking. Maybe you can get the doctor to better explain the treatment, but either way, it's very evident that she knows what she's doing. read more

I really enjoyed my acupuncture sessions here. Since I sleep weird and carry all my stress in my shoulders, that area is always really tense. Once I was in the room, the Dr. greeted me and explained what she was going to do. About 10 needles were placed in my back, shoulders, and ears. It wasn't painful, just a quick pinch for some of the needles. Then, I relaxed for about 30 or 40 minutes. During that time I did experience a weird, numb sensation in the deltoid area. Apparently, that's a good thing. While I did experience pain relief after the first session, I do believe that you see better results with consistency. The pain relief lasted about 4 or 5 days before it came back. Not from a lack of effectiveness, but from me just sleeping weird and carrying tension in that area again. Overall the experience was extremely pleasant and relaxing. The service was great and the practitioner is extremely knowledgeable. read more

This review is about 4 years late, but I feel like people should be warned as they hurt me to a point that altered my life forever. I made an appt to come her on a friends recommendation. I had a small twinge in my lower back when I arched from poor form lifting. That's it. My friend to me to go here because his friend owned the place and she was really good. I made an appt and went in. I assumed the woman that I was speaking to was who I asked for my appt to be with. I didn't find out until 3 years later that she wasn't. She acted as if she knew the person referring me and never told me she wasn't who I was asking for. After taking X-rays she located my problem. Said she wasn't sure exactly what was wrong but wanted to see about manipulating me over the next month to see if she could help. She didn't order mri's because she wanted to see what her therapy would do. I thought she was doing me a favor, saving me money. She adjusted me that one time. I got off of the table and felt tight and a little sore but I thought that was "adjustment pain." It ended up being only the start of something way worse. The rest of the day I walked around sore to the point I was walking like an old person. I went to bed that night and the next morning I woke up in pain. I also was having tingles down my leg. I grabbed a back pain patch and wore that and it helped with the pain, but when I took it off 4 hours later I was floored with pain. I had nerve pain shooting down the front of both of my legs, down the back of my right leg and out the bottom of both feet. I ended up stuck on the floor for 5 hours. I called them on that Saturday and left them a message, sobbing because I was in so much pain. No call back. The next day I had a couple friends who are therapists help me and they alleviated the piercing pain. It took them 4 days and threat of a lawsuit for neglect before they called me back. I didn't sue. I thought this was a friend of a friends business. I should have though. My life has never been the same. I live with chronic back pain. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't feel the nerve pain in my legs. I will never go to another chiropractor. I'm scared for anybody I don't know to touch my back. I haven't been able to dance since. It almost cost me my job and clients. It's been the worse decision I ever made going to this place. At some point I'll need surgery on my back. But I'm holding out as long as I can. I recently had a client come in and tell me that a chiropractor had messed up her back. Come to find out it was this same woman. That's what prompted me write this review. I should have said something years ago. This woman shouldn't be practicing. read more

I don't think I'll be coming back here again. I feel like I should mention that I did go the cheap route for a massage and got a deal off Groupon some months ago. I've learned my lesson. The people here are all very nice but that only gets you so far. A massage is supposed to be a relaxing experience but all I could think about was how I wanted to go home and shower. A massage therapist should NEVER smoke before seeing a client. It was disgusting. He smelled of cigarette smoke and then took to rubbing the stink into my back. It was a mixture of scented products and cigarette. I got in my car and smelled of cigarette. As a nonsmoker, I was actually asked by my significant other if I had been smoking when I got home! Immediately to the shower I went, without a single bit of stress relieved that day. read more

Based on the reviews from other Yelpers, I think they have taken that advice to heart. I came here to work on some kinks in my shoulders and neck. I called to make an appointment and spoke with a professional and kind person. When I came in for my scheduled appointment, I was promptly greeted and had someone explain to me what the process was going to be like. I was taken to a room to wait for Dr. Asenime and when she walked in she was professional, courteous, understanding- basically everything you want in a doctor to help you feel better! We started treatment soon after and immediately upon leaving the facility I could tell a difference in my body- a good difference! I started going to Marshall's back and body when I found out I was pregnant and was having terrible headaches. They would last for days and debilitating. A friend recommended going and it was the best thing I did during my pregnancy. I not only recommend getting adjusted during pregnancy but recommend this is where you go. The team is well educated. They not only helped me get through my headaches at the beginning but also helped me as I got bigger and was carrying all that weight. I began going to Marshall's Back and Wellness,  because I switched insurance in 2006 and wanted to get monthly maintenance adjustments from working long hours on the computer and gym workouts. I love going there, because the people are really nice and knowledgeable. I can count on being met on my appointment time and get my full treatment (electric stimulation, deep tissue massage and adjustment) in an hour. After I got rear ended last year, I quickly recommended them to take care of me. DR. A. Is great at what she does and she takes the time to get to know her patients needs. I have been seeing Dr. Asenime for almost 7 years now after I was in a bad car accident. Her adjustments,along with therapy, have significantly improved my quality of life. I am a surgeon who works in Galveston, but lives in Houston so trying to find time to make it to appointments can be difficult. Dr. Asenime and her team are very accommodating and always work with my schedule. Customer service and patient care are clearly of the utmost to her practice. They have therapy and chiropractic there, which is good. Most places don't have it or they do have it, but usually like to jive around. The prices can be good too. That being said, the low mark stems from the customer service standpoint. Dishonesty, to be specific. I went there before for a back issue and got some relief. I went back again to get a battery of adjustments and therapy after using a Groupon that included x-rays, adjustments, and decompressions. I never got the decompressions because the doctor said the machine was broken but I saw some other people on it a week or two into my treatments. I brought it up but I was told it was broken yet I saw people being treated on it during my time there. That was curious because I was diagnosed with some compressed discs in my lower back according to the x-ray. Hmm.... The biggest rub I have comes from payment regarding packages from here. When you call them, or least up to when I stopped going just before Hurricane Harvey, they have an automated message talking about the place and mentioning an installment payment option for services. When I discussed getting a physical therapy package with the doctor and inquired about the installment plan, which she confirmed. I paid an installment for the first treatment and adjustment deal, which was a six visit deal. When I came for my second visit, I wasn't allowed service because of payment. I reminded the staff member about the installment plan and she told me that all payment was due upfront. I asked to speak to the doctor and I asked what was up when I was able to finally get past the gatekeeper. She told me that she'd talk to her subordinate about it and mind you, I reminded her about the installment plan mentioned during the same conversation. She later tells me that this same employee told her that there is no installment plan but I had to pay the full balance before completion of all the treatments. The contradiction of the explanation speaks for itself. Also, how do you have to answer to somebody who works for you? I paid an installment on my second visit and then the same employee pulls the same stunt. After a few weeks, I came back for the third visit and so on. I was still feeling some pain, so the doctor offered that I could get another package plus an additional free one that was being offered for the month. She showed me the flyer and I elected 5 treatment package that included a free session, which made it 6. I paid and was presented a contract that outlined the number of sessions. I noticed that it didn't mention the free session and I was told by the doctor that the session was included. When I showed up for the sixth session, the gatekeeper tells me that I needed to buy another package. I told her about the package that I had and she quickly pulls out the chart and fees and I noticed that it was altered. That's when I knew I had to stop dealing with them. It's a shame but the majority of the staff, especially the desk people are on some real slick shit and the doctor will be back them up. I don't know what's going on with them but there's some shadiness up there. read more

I have been going to Marshall Back and Body since 2006. I started with Dr Marshall and continued through the transition when Dr A took over. The quality of service never faltered through the change. When I started in 2006 it was due to pain from a vehicle accident I had. I was given a treatment plan to help get my neck and shoulder back to being pain free. I have since used multiple services from them including their chiropractic services and physical therapy to massages to acupuncture and have never had an issue. When I have had different issues (from my back, to my neck to my feet) Dr A always listens to my issues provides me with a treatment plan directed to my issue. Their therapists have always given me personal attention when I come in. Leslie has hands of magic and always does the right pressure to be able to work out the stubborn knots I always have. He has also provided physical therapy sessions several times for different issues and he always explains the exercises thoroughly and why they help the issues I am working on at the time. I have never had a bad experience here and that's why I have continued to use them for over 12 years, even if it means driving 20 miles to get there. read more

I don't typical like to leave bad reviews but I was very confused about my first visit with this Marshall back and body. First off, the chiropractor or masseuse didn't even introduce their name to me so I had no idea who this person was whether they were a chiropractor or masseuse, they wore scrubs so I assumed maybe they had their license? Then they didn't even ask about my concerns or what was bothering me. They just told me to get ready and left the room.... thankfully I have had a massage before so I knew to remove my clothes and get under the blanket, but if I were a new customer, I would not know what they meant by that. Then they came in and started massaging me, but only focused on my back... when I thought I purchased a full body massage. Again, I was confused, and they never asked me one question so I just didn't say anything because I didn't want to be a pest. I asked for a Swedish massage but got more of a deep tissue which is what I needed I guess. But then when they were done, they tapped me on the back and said "have a nice day!" WHAT?? That's it's? No suggestions on what to do for my back? No asking of how it felt? Now I got this massage through Groupon because my other Groupon for a carpet cleaning was not valued in my neighborhood so I switched to this massage hoping it would be a good place since they were "specialists." I was actually looking for a chiropractor to go to but since they didn't take the time to properly meet with me as a "customer" they treated me as a cheap guest with a Groupon discount. As a business I think this is terrible practice and would not recommend to my friends or family. My back is in so much pain from that massage, I feel like I worked out too hard. Either way, I will not return here... if you want to put your discounted rates on Groupon, then treat those customers like regular guests because you never know what situation you are in. read more

I started coming here when a fellow pregnant friend recommended this place. I have been coming throughout the entire pregnancy and pregnant or not, this place is fantastic! The Dr. and staff really Care about their patients as if they are family. There is never a long wait, in fact, they are always on time. I get the muscle massage- I'm an athlete and the pressure is spot on (I'm super picky and they are one of the few who know how to really dig in and get those knots). Bought a living social deal for acupuncture with 30 min massage ~ I have never had acupuncture before so I have no previous experience to compare it to...with that being said, the woman that did the acupuncture explained everything, answered all my questions and was very professional and pleasant AND it didn't hurt ;) The massage was one of the best I have ever had and I have had MANY massages over the years. I started going to MBB back in 2012 and I returned just becuase of Leslie's massages. Now they have an addition to the team named April and she gives the best massages too and at first I was like do not touch me I only want Leslie but now I'm ok with her because she pays attention to your needs as well. They are all so friendly and I dont really get that "oh this is akward" moment when I'm with them. They fail to enter appointments into their calendar, can't find your appointments when you call to confirm (yes, when you call to confirm, not the other way around), cancel ones you've made without your consent, and all sorts of other unprofessional and bizarre things, and then they try to blame the customer for it (...quizically scratching head....).
