This is a great location. There is plenty of stock; however, they don't have as many shoes as the location off Glenwood Ave in Raleigh. Nice, clean location, Raleigh/Durham doesn't have many stores in this area; therefore, this one and the one in Raleigh are as good as you are going to get. Great sales too!

I waited far too long for help, and when I finally got someone's attention, they were dismissive and provided no real solution. It's frustrating to spend your hard-earned money somewhere that clearly doesn't value its customers. A little kindness and professionalism go a long way -- and unfortunately, neither was shown during this visit. Very disappointing experience.

This is the Walmart at New Hope Commons, the shopping center just off 15-501 (Durham-Chapel Hill…read moreBlvd), near I-40 exit 270, in Durham. I came to this Walmart because I learned over the past year that Walmart is the only retailer that carries Suave Men 2-in-1 Shampoo and Conditioner in large 40-ounce bottles with pumps. Amazon and Target do not carry the 40-ounce bottles, at least that I could find. I got my first 40-ounce bottle with pump at the South Main Walmart in High Point. It lasted me about a year, living part-time in North Carolina. I got my second bottle here. There are two kinds of 2-in-1, Ocean Charge and Alpine Fresh. My first bottle was Ocean Charge and my second bottle was Alpine Fresh. $4.98 for 40 ounces. What a great value. Also, I noticed Unilever (Suave parent company) changed the 40-ounce bottle design from wide to cylindrical from 2020 to 2021. I've used the 28-ounce bottles for years at my home in Georgia. My shower/tub setup there is different, so I prefer the 28-ounce bottles with snap-shut lids there. This was just my second trip to a Walmart since the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown of March 2020. I forgot how low Walmart's prices are. They're scary cheap. Walmart must squeeze every penny out of its suppliers. That said, the selection and quality of product at Walmart is generally not as good as brick-and-mortar competitors such as Target and Harris Teeter (for groceries). For example, this Walmart only had one flavor of Silk Almond Creamer (Caramel) while Harris Teeter typically offers three flavors (Sweet & Creamy and Vanilla in addition to Caramel). We picked up a bottle of the Silk Almond Creamer, Caramel flavor (32 ounces) for $3.98. This is about $1 cheaper than Harris Teeter, but I prefer the Sweet & Creamy flavor which Walmart did not carry. More examples of Walmart's low prices: We picked up a couple bags of Marketside (Walmart's house brand) salad for $2.68 each, an 8-pack of Diet Coke in 12-ounce plastic bottles (same size as cans) for $4.44, a Screamin' Sicilian Holy Pepperoni frozen pizza for $5.98, and a succulent potted plant for $5.00. We visited this Walmart around 4:30 PM on a Saturday. I was bracing myself for a zoo, but customer volume was surprisingly relatively light. It was a fairly relaxed, calm shopping experience. We ran into one of our old neighbors near the fridge with the creamers. We had to wait behind only one person, who wasn't buying much stuff, at checkout. The cashier was efficient and polite. Even the old couple behind us was outgoingly friendly. Did we just happen to luck out at the time of our visit? I did think it was interesting how this Walmart is located directly across from and shares the same storefront parking lot as a Best Buy. I had no issues finding a parking space nearby. I don't think Best Buy is as popular as it used to be.

Meadowmont Village is the place my wife and I have visited the most during our time in Chapel Hill…read more(2020-2024), mainly because of the Harris Teeter here, but also because of the property's restaurants and other businesses. This is a nice mixed-use development on the east side of Chapel Hill, close to the Durham border. It's just a short drive down highway 54 from I-40 exit 273 and it's not far from 15-501 either. Meadowmont Village sets itself apart from competition in the area by simply being nicer with a cleaner and more elevated atmosphere. The architectural design, layout, and landscaping make it a quaint, relaxing place to walk around. The tenant mix is a good combination of chain and local. This isn't a bigger, destination-type development like Fenton in Cary. Instead, it's smaller and quieter, and that's part of the appeal. It's never felt crowded or uncomfortable all the times I've been here. It's easy to get in and out and there always seems to be just the right amount of people, even when it's busy (e.g., active patios at Brixx, Bluebird, and Kahlovera). There's a pond and trails nearby and overall, the entire neighborhood is well-kept. When we first moved to the area, my wife and I frequented the Harris Teeter up 54 at Hope Valley Commons in Durham. We then switched to the Harris Teeter at Meadowmont Village because it's more secluded and has a calmer, more peaceful environment (inside and out). While I think the Harris Teeter at Hope Valley Commons is a little bigger with a slightly wider variety of inventory, that difference hasn't been big enough for us to switch back to the Hope Valley Commons Harris Teeter as our primary Harris Teeter. Below is a list of businesses at Meadowmont Village that we've been to so far. I've left Yelp reviews for most of them. But if that doesn't apply to you then this fancy shopping area will work out fine. They're trying to be European and stuff, and it's cute. Reminds me of some of the fancier parts of Northern Virginia or Maryland, but it's not cheap here. It's a cute brand-new shiny shopping center with some boba tea and some desserts and some food and a lot of high-end shops. They tried to make it like a little shopping Village and while it does seem fake it and contrived, it also is a really nice place to hang out and get some stuff - and it's peaceful and safe and quiet and reminds me of Virginia in some ways.

Honestly, I was expecting a mess. In reality, even with tons of people shopping, the store was kept very clean and tidy. Stock was pretty good even on high demand items, such as towels, mops, toiletries, etc., and they had sales and specials galore on the basic necessities for students. Plenty of staff helping at the checkout stands as well as in the sections, such as electronics, to answer questions and help find things. Again, even with the crowds, the staff was polite, kind, and very professional. While I won't be visiting here very much since it's across the country for me, I know my student will come here knowing we had a positive shopping experience on one of the craziest shopping days in the area.
