We came to Marshall's on Saturday to look for specific items for our upcoming vacation. This location in located in the Arden area on Howe Ave. We were on the hunt for some sandals for my daughter and I and some shorts for my husband. We didn't find either unfortunately, but they did have a lot of cool items like SF Niners shoes and even Hellfire Club shoes (IYKYK). We did end up finding some cute Wicked slippers, a purple whale mirror and some travel stuff - all for under $40! I also found this super cute black skull Betsy Johnson purse that I now regret not buying. They already had their Valentine's Day items out too! Probably the worst experience ever with the employee Cassandra. She was super rude and condescending. Gave me an attitude as soon as I placed my items on her cashier counter. Told her I'd wait for another cashier to be serviced by. The employee that ended up helping me had overheard the encounter and was super sweet, they apologized for her behavior. They let me know that Cassandra has constant behavioral issues and is regularly problematic with customers. Would recommend to never be helped by her, and hope she fixes her customer service issues! read more

Not normally in this area and haven't been to a Marshall's in years! Wasn't to excited to go but do happy I went! Instantly walked in with a super cute valentine display! Found my favorite candles Sand and Fog for half the cost! At this moment they had me. It was after Christmas so all Christmas was 50% off and that was the jackpot! To compare went to target yesterday for discount Christmas supplies but doesn't compare to the great products Marshalls had. The only con was there was no bathroom vacate for customers so had to go to Ross which is next door. read more

I can probably spend a fortune here! I love to check out their home items like kitchen and bath stuff, candles, picture frames, bath towels, Korean body wash, and storage stuff. It is definitely my favorite discount store. Everything is so reasonably priced that I always go home with more than I need. If you buy a lot of stuff (that's me) and alone, you have to pull your car in the front to load your bags because their shopping carts can't leave the shop. I thought that was super inconvenient and stupid! That also says a lot about the neighborhood. Just be careful and be observant. read more

This Marshalls store is one of the oldest in Sacramento. I have been shopping here for many years. The store looks the same--no significant change in recent years. The store is big, with a massive selection of clothing for men, women, and kids. They carry a lot of household items at deeply discounted prices. The customer service at the checkout is friendly, and the line moves quickly most of the time. Unfortunately! The parking lot in this location is one of the worst parking lots in town. The driveway doesn't fit two cars in both directions simultaneously in some sections. The parking spaces are very narrow. This is the main reason why I don't shop here often anymore! read more

I was shopping in the clearance section today 01/12/26 @ 215pm and found a hair tool with a yellow tag marked at $10, along with a few clothing items to try on. I tried on the pants and left the hair tool on the counter. As I was leaving the fitting room, I informed the employee that the hair tool was also an item I intended to purchase. She looked at me with suspicion and responded that she knew, but stated the price was incorrect and called a manager to verify. The yellow sticker was clearly attached to the item, and the manager slowly peeled it off and said the price was wrong. I found it rude and frustrating that I was not allowed to purchase the item for the price Marshall's had clearly marked on it. Not to mention, as I was walking away, they continuted the conversation with giggles and laughing. Overall, this experience left a bad impression and felt unfair and unprofessional. I hope management provides better training on customer service and pricing practices, as this is not the kind of experience I expect when shopping here. read more

SANNA as the manager on duty please DO BETTER!!!!! Rude customer service, her store is a mess she is manager on duty and her store isn't being kept up with. product is damaged and dirty. stained benches that are cloth need to be plastic wrapped/sealed to where people can't dirty them if they are being stepped on. the price is not worth the same once the item is stained!!! a 10% off discount is what any manager who sees a stained item would do to sell the the product to the customer and still make a sell. i'm not paying full price for a stained bench and it's disrespectful how Sanna saw the stain and said that will come out. how do you know this yellow and black stain will come out of a pink bench. she isn't managing the store correctly and you can tell just by stepping into the entrance. she was upset that we started giving tips on how she should be making sure product isn't getting stained to that extent. we left the bench and took our business to ROSS!! read more

Still a great store but a lot of the more upscale clothing is gone. Wanted to pick up a new suit jacket but those have gone away for whatever reason. Men's shoes are two racks. The employees stay on the cleanliness very well, and the restroom was very clean. Checkout was a bit slow because the team was out on the floor or on break. Not a terrible wait though. read more

Do not shop here! I found an article of clothing with a snag in it so I handed it back at the cash register. I watched a senior employee snip the snag and put it back on the rack. Plenty of parking spaces in the shared lot. Clean interior. Hand sanitizer is put out on a table between the entrance and exit. Not all staff wear masks, but it seems like the cashiers do. Not too busy in the morning on a weekday; there were two cashiers, so there was practically no line. My cashier was friendly and struck up a conversation. Compared to the Marshalls on Florin, everything was very orderly. This location had more varieties of some food items. The graphic tee selection wasn't very good, but that's not limited to this one location. Definitely look around carefully if you are into otaku/anime stuff because there are some sparse hidden gems. I spotted a Dragon Ball blind box near the checkout area and Plusheen merchandise near the cards and games tables. read more

I've been to this location a few times now. I always spend more time than what I planned because they have so many different things. I think what attracts me are the different and random things they have in stock. The mens clothing and shoes don't have a big selection unlike other locations I've been too. However, they do have a great amount of household items that are useful. They store is pretty clean and I never had a problem with customer service. Went to buy socks. Im an associate at another Marshalls store and i started working a week ago. They told me i couldn't use my discount unless i have my Physical card in which i DONT get until a few weeks after working there. I have my numbers and my ID with me. I think it was disrespectful how as soon as i mentioned my numbers they straight up said "No. You can't do that." But i had used my numbers at TJ Maxx twice this week. The annoying thing was that they repeated it over and over "My manager said no. You can't do that. You can't use them." Ok! I get i can't use it. I had already said Ok i'll just pay for it all. I needed a white top for our family matching day. I found a few, tried a few, and I was out of there. I did roam around and I was very impressed how clean and organize the place was. I went from 2 items in my hands to 4 items (mini hair products kit for baby girl & a hat for buddy). Marshall's has the most horrible return policies. It's like they are trained to refuse returns! Always some excuse why they can't return an item. I was told today by the manager at the Howe store that he wouldn't return an item that I purchased from The Rancho store because he would have to take the loss. Uh, what?? We were trying to return two items that broke/did not work properly and his words to my husband were "makes me wonder what's going here". That was a bit insulting. I like the store small enough to not overwhelm me. It is clean and some staff are friendlier than others. I normally don't shop here. But they do have some interesting stuff for home decoration. The only thing I don't like is to feel pressure in opening a credit card with them. Although the credit card saves you 10% at three different stores like homegoods and tjmax and Marshalls, I don't think I need one and I explained that. Credit cards may be good in some cases but I dont think I need another retail credit card for now. I like the effort though but the cashier that helped me was pushing it a little. Good effort. On 1/30/19 At about 12:30 pm I was visiting Sacramento ( from Redding ) We only have a tj maxx up here! ANYWAY, I stopped in with my 9 year old son and my aunt while we killed time for my doctors appointment that was just down the street. They had an awesome selection this time! I was very pleased, BUT I was very unhappy with customer service... While shopping "Aunt flow" decided to make her grand appearance! (Ugh) so I quickly grab some new leggings etc and head to the register, I pay for my items and quickly ask where there restroom is, The clerk directs me and I quickly rush over toting my 9 year old, I get to the restroom with a key pad ( Panicking at this point ) I rush to find an associate, FIND ONE! her name is Christina, I quickly ask for the code and she stands there for a second and asks my why, at this point I'm A bit flustered and explain I needed to change my pants, she can see I just made a purchase! She hesitates and then has this women who I'm assuming is an undercover loss prevention follow me in.... OK WHO CARES I JUST NEED TO CHANGE! I step in and immediately realize how disgusting their bathroom was! NO EXAGGERATION it smelled like urine, And the floors looked like someone had missed the toilet over a number of times, but in desperation I handle what I need to and realize I can change in the fitting room *DUH* so I get myself together and head for the fitting room. Once I ask the attendant who was working the fitting room if u can change she responds NO you can't, I asked why? And she said "she does not make the rules" I looked at her a bit puzzled as she is moving uncontrollably and talking a mile a minute... I quickly realize she's high on drugs. ITS OBVIOUS, I begin to panic again and say can I show you my recipe? It's just leggings? As she's Turing me away again here comes Christina! Telling methany, the fitting room attendant it's ok, as in she's going to handle it... well it dawns on me right then and there that these people think I'm "stealing" HOLY CRAP I'm livid at this point, clearly these people need to be educated on their loss prevention tactics because a lady who started her period that just bought leggings is no threat! Anyway as Christina holds up the fitting room line reading EVERY item on my recipe and checking them, I proceeds to break down and probably said very loudly, I STARTED MY PERIOD! I just need to change into my new leggings please! She then takes my bag of purchases and directs me to a fitting room not allowing me to take my things. OK whatever. I return to collect my things as she's standing there waiting for me like I'm some criminal. I grab my son and proceed to meet my aunt at the front of the store. She immediately sees the look on my face and asks what's wrong? I explain and we are both in shock at this point as the burley loss prevention lady is following us out! AS IF WE ARE GOING TO STEAL SOMETHING! I'm so so appalled! This is NO way to run a store! And your employees needs to be educated on loss prevention and how to spot a thief or just a regular lady shopping with her family that needs to change into her legging SHE JUST BOUGHT! and not to mention "Christina" your fitting room attendant was more of a threat then myself or my 9 year old with her pick marks and clearly high on the job! Vibe Walking in here is just like all other Marshalls. I like coming to this location because there is a ross right next store. Layout I like how they put the season items and decor when you first walk in. For example its fall and halloween is coming, so to the right of the entrance they have kids halloween costumes and fall decor items on sale. The men selection is pretty good. They separate the areas with electronics and miscellaneous items. Then it leads you to the fancier dress suits and clothes. then an underwear section with backpacks and socks section. Then the casual and sporty clothes section. Lastly is the clearance rack, which is messy and you will have to do some digging into finding the gem. Some clearance items is very great which i have found. House goods Love coming here to find the unique cups and pots. As well home decor items for baths and etc. This section is kind of messy so you will have to walk slowly and try to eye all the corners of shelves which might be hidden in the back. electronics lots of iPhone cases and third party back up chargers. most of the cases are related to iPhones, but limited cases for samsung s5 not much on s6 from what i observed. Shoes Limited with mens shoes selection. Big variety for the women's shoes as well the purses and bags. Overall Friendly service cashiers. I have a love/hate relationship with this Marshall. I love the fact they have tons of designer items that cost about 20% cheaper at their store. But this store is just straight up messy and unorganized. If I do found something I like, there's always something wrong with it whether it's a stain, dent or a tear =( Shopping at Marshall is like going on a treasure hunt, you'll never know what you'll find there. But most of the time when I'm looking for something, I just can't find anything. But when I'm just browsing around not looking for anything special, I'll find things that I want but not necessarily something I need. Take tonight for example, my friends are I are planning to throw a tea party. So we decided to each get our own little tea cup set. That's something you'll always find at Marshall right? Wrong! The one time we did want to buy the tea sets after seeing them all time in the kitchen area, there were only two sets and those two sets weren't even that cute. Normally I'll see tons of those cute tea cup sets, but the one time I went in just to get them they're gone. I normally don't go to Marshall when I need something because this store likes to play games with me unless it's a kitchen item because if they don't have it, it's okay two stores down is a ROSS. Don't get me wrong Marshall is a great store but it's one of those stores you don't go in expecting to find anything. So when you do find something you're super excited. Most of the time when I do visit Marshall is when I need something for the kitchen such as serving plates, serving bowls or just kitchen utensils because I'm hosting a party. I won't waste my time or money again at this store! The person who was supposed to manage the fitting room was rude. First no one was there to give me a number, I went in and tried on my two items. When I came out she sarcastically asked for my number knowing full well she was not here to give me one. Then she lies and says she was just outside I told her there was no one here so I went in. Marshall's is basically an upgraded Ross. The quality of stuff here - stuff meaning everything, from home to clothing - is generally a lot better. However, this store tends to be a more hit or miss store for me! I don't always find something when I walk in and shop, but what I do find, I am absolutely in love with! Got a brand new MK purse for my fiance for under $200 at my local Marshall's and when I went to Nordstrom, they had the same EXACT ONE FOR $400! This store in particular is pretty old and could use some remodeling, also shoe selection here is just too weak... read more

I go to Marshall's more out of necessity than anything else. They've got some of the best deals out there on anything from name brand clothing to shoes to housewares to speakers for your phone. It's a wonderful place for affordable shopping if you don't mind the mess, the clothes strewn everywhere, children darting around between racks, the rude customers or the clueless staff. My favorite discount store. And, oh yes, I go to em all ('cept Big Lots, Tuesday Morning, Steinmart...ok, so not all of em). I can always find something, it's open late (9:30pm), and it's next to Ross and Old Navy. On my last shopping venture, I came away with a girls' Roxy bag and sweatshirt, Liz Claiborne house slippers, a Calvin Klein baby sleeper, Carter's bib and sleeper, throw blanket, vase, and an awesome dress (all for $85). Parking at this Marshalls depends on the day. Oftentimes during off peak hours, you can find a parking spot quite easily and other times (after work) you will have to navigate the parking lot a bit to find a decent spot and you'll still have to walk a bit). The Marshalls here is decent. When you walk in you'll almost instantly see the cashiers (on the left) and the shoe department on the right side. Yes, the shoes are so much better organized than the shoe department at Ross. They actually provide a display for each shoe and the sizes on the bottom shelf. Most of the time they have really good brands (i.e. Steve Madden, Jessica Simpson, Nine West, Bear Paws, Clarks, Cole Haun, Franco Sarto, and many more). You can find more economic brands and more expensive ones depending on your taste and budget. The sizes vary depending on the popularity of the item but most of the time I haven't had too much of a problem finding the item and size to my liking. The womens shoe department is definitely larger than the men's shoe department. They have a good variety of Juniors and Women's clothing. I typically shop at the Juniors Department and they have a lot of the basic items (i.e. Jeans, sweaters, leggings, shirts, active wear, etc). They also have lots of accessories and purses to choose from. I truly love their home décor and furniture section. I've purchased a lot of items for my apartment including picture frames, wall art, rugs, jewelry boxes, kitchen tools, dishes and much more from here. I found a great deal for a jewelry box on the clearance shelf (retail was $100, went down to $49 and then on clearance for $15). The defect was that the lock was a bit broken but I didn't necessarily require a lock and it size/color was perfect. Their purse section is pretty awesome. They have designers such as Marc Jacobs, Coach, Nine West, Calvin Klein, and Steve Madden. I found a beautiful maroon purse from Marc Jacobs here but it was $100 for the purse. Too much for me, but it was SO CUTE! Anyway, I love coming here as opposed to the Ross because I feel like the selection is so much more vast and the cleanliness of the store keeps me sane. Not a huge fan of this location for several reasons. The store itself is a mess and always seems dirty. The few times I have gone in there, it just seems as if everything is tossed willy-nilly all over and the shoe dept is always a wreck. The parking lot here is very dicey in the daytime, at night it's worse. I would not recommend coming here after dark at all. I was here in the daytime on a Monday and was accosted twice by people asking for money. Plus, the parking spaces are extremely narrow and it's normal to see a vehicle taking up two spots. There are plenty of other Marshall's in the Sacramento area, this one just isn't one of the great ones. read more
