This was my first time visiting this location which is in the Arden area off of Howe Ave. Once we entered the store, I noticed how big and spacious the inside was and they had all of their Valentine's Day items right in the front. As we were walking around, we noticed that a lot of the shelves were bare and they did not have any items that we were searching for - I'm not sure if they were getting ready to stock new inventory or what. We ended up leaving without buying anything. The items I did look at were priced fairly and I can't comment on the service since we did not buy anything, but the security guard at the front was very nice. Overall, I was pretty disappointed at this location - I don't think I would come back anytime soon! read more

I was ready to try on some clothes but the dressing room was closed for 30 minutes. They had 2 cashiers and another just putting away hangers and security. The employees made everyone wait 30 minutes if Customers want to try on clothes. I call the corporate office and the lady said you only have 10 more minutes. Ross is always closing the back dressing rooms. Customer have to wait 10 to 20 minutes for the 2 front dressing rooms. I check now and will not shop if the clothing room in the back is closed. read more

In the area and was in need of some additional workout gear due to the recent inclement weather. I was surprised to find some great quality pieces given the bustle of last minute Christmas shoppers in every section of the store. I scored dri fit leggings and a dri fit jacket for $20. The lines were long but the associates had customers in and out in no time which was nice. read more

My shopping experience for this Ross Dress for Less in Arden-Arcade at the corner of Howe Ave and Hurley Way has gone up and down many times in recent decades. This is one of the earliest generations of Ross in the Sacramento area. It was my favorite store many years ago. However, all the Ross, including this one, went downhill a few years before the pandemic and got very bad, with almost nothing I wanted to buy at their stores in the last few years. But it seems to be returning to a store like they usually do now, with lots of good merchandise for a reasonable price. Plenty of parking spaces in the shared lot. Relatively clean interior. Some of the aisles are messy, especially the back corner by the dressing room. Hand sanitizer available at the checkout counter, and the staff wear masks. Few customers in the morning on a weekday; however, there was only one cashier, so a line started to form - nothing new as this is the norm for all Ross locations. The cashier seemed nice and had an eye for detail. She noticed the customer ahead of me had picked out a package of cookies that was apparently smushed or damaged in some way and asked the customer if she wanted to pick out a different one. Some of the clothing racks seemed bare. The graphic tees were lacking, which was a bit of a disappointment. read more

The assistant supervisor Alfredo basically humiliated and embarrassed me in front of a long line of customers making me out as a scammer, a fraudster, a thief for returning an item purchased there without a price tag because the associate that rung me up told me a price tag is not needed because item will be on receipt. Their fitting room was closed so I was not able to try on the item. The item still had its original new store tags when returned. He said I bought a black sweater and not a grey one even though the logo on the sweater is one and the same. I was returning a grey sweater. I asked him if possible on video that he viewed the grey sweater could possibly look black. He stated no. I asked him to talk to the associate that rung me up to see if she remembers me. He stated he does not need to. He then threw the sweater at me and told me he could not help me. It's a $10.99 sweater. I am not upset over the sweater but I am upset at how I was treated. It's their employee that was too lazy to make a price tag. So do not believe Ross when they tell you that a price tag is not needed for a return because a stupid color blind SOB full on power because he's assistant supervisor at a Ross store is unable to tell a grey sweater from a black sweater even though the sweater front logo is identical in the video. I went in on a Friday around 11am. I was buying a lot of stuff but was not using a cart. Bad idea. I was holding my phone checking messages and lost my phone. I went frantically searching, back tracking, circling the store. I asked an associate where I could ask if they've found my phone. She thought I was inquiring about phone cases. She did not speak English well and didn't know what I was asking. I went to ask the person standing at the podium. She told me to ask the cashier. I did and they had my phone! Thanks for the honest customers/workers who kept my phone safe! I was almost out $1k that day if I didn't get my phone back. 1250 Howe Avenue Store Experience - I never write these but after my experience, Saturday be assured I am writing this and telling everyone about it. I felt totally embarrassed and shocked at the treatment from the fitting room attendant. First, as I brought my cart up, she told me to step back to the hanging pole to get access, I had a bunch of items and asked how many I could take in to which she replied 8. She watched me shake and count out 8, she then proceeded to tell me to hang them on her rack and count them again - to which she then picked each item up and shook it like I was trying to hide something in the items having just witness me hang them up, mind you she didn't do this to the previous person. Am I to think it is race-related since they weren't black? Insulted I told her I would not be taking anything and left all the items with her. I walked up front and asked for the manager, they located her and I relayed the incident. Their reply to me was it was a language issue - first, if you have staff on your floor, then you need to be sure they understand how to treat people and understand racial tensions and how their actions could be perceived. To add insult to injury, they didn't know my niece was next in line to buy something and as I left, the manager stated, I'm sure we will get a negative yelp about this. Hell yes and I'm not shopping at another Ross. Corporate has a lot of training to do at this store. read more

Ross is one of my favorite stores but I'll stick to using an online vendor for more quality products. Bought a purse and suitcase from this ross, the purse lasted about two week and my suitcase not even two whole days. I bought this two days before my trip. After just the second use at the airport the stick jammed and airport associates nor I were able to put the handle back in place. I was on my trip for about a week and I was not going to spend my time returning it on there. I have screenshots of exactly when the suitcase broke, a receipt, and a flight itinerary. I can back today, less than a month after my purchase and was told I was able to get a refund or at least a store credit on my purchase. It seemed like I was just met with excuses cause at first the issue was well it wasn't bought at our store, but then I pointed out I had. I let them know I could provide proof of damages but still said they couldn't do so as time had past. I normally recommend Ross to all my friends and family but am quite disappointed at my purchases made from this store. I'm a frequent Ross shopper and seldom do I return items but a $60 suitcase that didn't last more than three days does not seem like a fair purchase. Very clean, organized, and lines were short!. And of course it's Ross so lots of great stuff to choose from and only a mile away from home.

The store is great. The merchandise is... Ross (sometimes great!) However, whoever is managing the store doesn't seem to understand the extremely basic retail principal of diverting staff to registers during busy hours. Every time I have been here, there's literally a line out the door and 1-2 cashiers working with 5+ empty registers while multiple other employees mill around or are randomly and slowly re-racking things. It does not take a genius to figure out in times of high traffic you need to call more people to the register (re-racking can in fact wait! Especially when being performed with the speed and gusto of a snail!). I'm fact, I learned this in high school on my very first retail job. It's literally retail 101. The customers in line are saying "why aren't there more registers open?" It boggles my mind that no one running the place can figure this very simple issue out. If they solved this one (huge, very basic) problem, it would be a 4+ star review easy. Please Ross. I'd like to check out of your store before it's time to check into the senior home. I've been to this Ross store before one time and today I visited just to look around, browse, and to do my shopping. This store has a lot of good prices and its pretty easy to navigate too if you know how to find what you're looking for in the aisles. And I also work at Ross as well--the one on Truxel Rd in Natomas if you're familiar with what the area looks like. And when I tell you, a beautiful lady, Sade, immediately came by and assisted me while I was waiting in line to check out. She was so helpful and offered to check me out which was truly appreciated. If I was even working at this location right now, I would of given her a true card lol!!! Like....we was chopping it up a bit in our conversation as she handled my transaction. And besides her with helping me out, the other staff were really friendly and helpful and it was a truly a wonderful experience. I love Ross. There's not much else to say! I could redecorate my home with Ross or have a whole new wardrobe. I love the limits of people now due to COVID. BUT piece of advice! GET THERE SUPER EARLY to avoid lines! The deals are pretty good and the selection has changed! It's a good Ross location and Marshall's is close to it as well. Told her that I have used it in the past, but she was not cooperative (could have called for the manager). Told her what she could do with herself and moved on. Just picked up a few items from here! I give two stars because the security guard was nice and SOME items were a decent price. They barely deserve two stars. How do you stand around talking while customers walk into the store and not greet them?! However the security guard was pleasant and spoke and was more helpful than the sales associates. Mind you there was a sales associate standing next to the security guard. She didn't speak! I didn't hesitate to tell the security thank you for his warm greeting because he was the only employee in the entire store that had greeted me ( he chuckled) and "miss sales associate" still had nothing to say (shocker) lol! Prices really aren't that great. You could get some of the things here at the mall for the same price. Once in a while, you forget why you don't go to a particular shop any longer. At least I do - but I kindly reminded myself about the horrors of Ross today: 1. At the dressing room, each item is examined to ensure nothing is being snuck in to be stolen. Everyone is treated like a potential thief. 2. My cart was gone when I finished trying in clothes, and the attendant denied over and over that it had been moved. It must be me then, I smiled, I must have imagined having a cart to begin with. She was so oddly defensive. 3. At check out, I was double charged for an item. I pointed this out and she completed the purchase anyway. I asked her to remove the charge, and was told I'd have to pay for it, then receive a refund. I sighed, paid, then was asked for my ID to process my same-day refund. What an idiot. I did not like this Ross not one little bit and I typically adore Ross stores on a whole but this was disappointed in all areas :/ Firstly it's uber small. Their selection ranging from clothing, housewares, rugs to bedding and the like sucked. Their pricing also is more than the majority of all other Ross stores I have shopped at regularly. Customer service however was a solid 3 stars as we were greeted at the front door and assisted to the areas we were shopping in. However the satisfactory CS does not warrant a 3rd star for me as well I appreciate that immensely however as much as I wanted to spend my hard earned money in here I was unable to due to lack of selection. Period. I also shopped at the Marshall's located directly to this locations left and it was a much better store offering much more all the way around in terms of product BUT I'm sticking with the TJ Maxx over off of Marconi in the Arden Arcade area as to date with multiple trips into it, their prices and selection trump the rest within this neighborhood. This particular Ross is not ok. The staff isn't too friendly or approachable. They don't welcome you at the door or acknowledge you at all. There was a long line when I wanted to pay and instead of opening a new register, the staff was hanging out with the security guard talking about their personal stuff. It wasn't too professional. The thing that irritated me the most was that when I was paying for my items, the girl at the register had called over the next customer before I even swiped my card! I bought 2 Andy Warhol bags here each 19.99 and I've recieved so many compliments!! They asked me where i got it and how much, they were shocked! Cuz usually they cost 60? not sure. And great cheap cute shoes!!!! I gotten most my shoes here.. Clothing wise, they needs to fill up their racks more.. not much but the same ol' same ol'. Help them get rid of some undies ladies!!! Everytime I go to Ross I feel like a few months of my life are taken off. Really, I love it, I was born a bargain hunter. I love delving into the racks and pushing aside the brightly colored "Your Boyfriend Thinks I'm Cute" t-shirts to find the sweet finds. Given some stuff there was clearly sold to Ross because it would not sell anywhere else. My partner & I often walk through the store and think, "Someone will actually buy this" as we point out a hideous chair or pair of shoes. All jokes aside, I've found some great deals on shoes & shirts here. I also come across some cute homewares here --- a big savings on towels, utensils, and other kitchen stuff (Brand name knives for a cheaper price) and picture frames lowly priced. Just keep the knives in the cart when it comes to standing in line, because believe me sometimes you'll want to use them. The line here can get out of control and consist of lots of screaming children & impatient adults willing to cut you off. read more

Most other places are selling a similar item for close to $20.
