I stopped at this large store in Somerville for the first time and I was really impressed by the size of it and how nicely organized and clean it was. I went to check on some inexpensive hats that I wanted to get for a friend and they had a large selection of colors, sizes and prices. This is my local Marshalls and I've been going here for years! It could really use a revamp and consistent employees. I'm not sure what goes on here but it seems like the employees are never the same! That is telling especially when it comes to customer service. While shopping in Somerville we decided to stop in at this Marshalls to look for some button up shirts as well as new shoes. When we walked in we were amazed at how large the store was. Other great thing about this store was that it was well stocked as well as organized. The staff here was really polite but they were hard to find. Since the store is so large many of the employees were running around and it was tough to get their attention with some questions we had. When it came time to checking out the employees were quick. This was great because the line looked large but people were in and out ASAP. In the end we enjoyed shopping at this store and would definitely come back in the future due to their incredible selection of items at great prices. Kudos to this Marshalls! read more

Holy designer names!! This location is a little pricey for Marshalls (I think) but in their defense there are are more designer named brands here than I have seen at other locations. I would definitely rate this location more upscale than others. That being said, the variety is lacking. The trends are for older more established shoppers. I like to stay on trend with a few pieces. I'm not usually one to review chains...but I have to give a shout-out to my go-to binge discount shopping mecca. This Marshalls is soooo tidy & clean! You don't have to dig through endless piles to find what you want...and the staff is super friendly & helpful. There are few things that satisfy me as much as getting a bargain and this place delivers on their promise of great stuff & even better prices. I have no problem finding tons of gifts here at very reasonable prices..and always walk away with a little somethin' for myself without feeling guilty about it. This is probably my favorite Marshalls store in the area. Unlike all the ones in the city, it isn't completely picked over. If you show up early on a weekend morning, you can browse the racks in peace. Checkout is usually painless too -- I don't think Ive ever waited more than a few minutes in line. Although I've gotten tons of clothes here over the years, I'd say the strengths of this Marshalls are (a) the shoe selection and (b) home goods. I have a weakness for well-priced cookware and kitchen tools, and I always find something crazy awesome here to satisfy my cheffy shopping tastes. As with any discount-type store, it can be hit or miss. The key to success is stopping by regularly and with an open mind. Because the stock is so unpredictable, stores like Marshalls aren't places to rely on when you have something specific in mind. Wow, sparkly clean. Ive never seen a Marshall's this clean. Wow, organized. I dont think Ive ever seen Marshall's this organized. Seriously, everything was hanged, by size, even the clearance rack. Maybe the fact that I was there on a Tuesday morning had something to do with it, but it was organized. Wow, shoes. Lots of them. The majority was the Beyonces fugly shoes, but there were a few very cute pairs. Wow, home goods. Extensive selection, I got some 500 TC sheets and pillowcases. It's changed a lot in the past five years but this still remains my favorite Marshall's. It's clean, it's organized enough, but it's not overly prim. They get shipments every day, but it's not so picked over that something obscure you saw on Monday will surely be bought out from under you by Thursday. The staff is pleasant and efficient; if there is more than one person in line they'll call another cashier to the registers, doing everything they can to assure you don't have to wait in line. I stopped in to buy some new bright orange bed sheets for the summer. I like to change sheets according to the season. I picked up a pair that were $24, not bad until they rang up for only $10.61! I love the small surprises in life that save me money. I usually browse the shoe department, but I only glanced this time because I was in a rush to get in and get out. What I did see were cute sandals and some wedges perfect for the summer. This store was stocked with colorful maxi dresses floating in the air and begging me to try them on and buy them. Maybe next time. Everything else in the store was a blur, seeing as how my tunnel vision focus was on inexpensive colorful bed sheets. The line was crazy long, but moved swiftly. read more

How have I not reivewed you, my dear neighbor??? I love this marshall's. Im in there frequently and find that there are new things constantly. Aso for mom panties & fug shoes, as virginia found...that is not the norm here. There is a lot of great stuff. Most other posters had better experiences. I do think her post was hilarious about the besty johnson stuff b/c i was just in there today and saw a 99.99$ betsy johnson canvas tote that is pretty hideous...i blame betsy and the hipsters who want that and not marshall's for getting in on the profits. On a critical note, I wish they had a ful-fledged jewelry counter and not the occasional boxes of silver jewelry. not usually anything i want in those little boxes. the underwear & pajamas are usually good, the food & houseware and kids/baby stuff are also usually well-stocked. read more

Compared to other department stores in the city, this Marshalls is the following: * Clean * Organized * Large * Has tons o' stuff * Surprisingly does not make me feel itchy or uneasy being in here for more than 20 minutes. Now, I would like to go back and talk about how clean and organized this place is! Whenever I think of a store in Boston / the metro area, I think of filth. Sorry guys, but it's true. Unless the store is located on Newbury Street and the Prudential Center, every store I have been to is disgusting, unorganized, and smells. This Marshalls is the complete opposite. My housemate and I went here over Christmas vacation to purchase some L1's (this, in his terms are jeans that he does not mind if they get dirty or ripped up). Whenever we go out shopping together, we like to comment on the folk who work behind the counter. Our usual post-purchase conversation goes a little like: "Man, does she hate her job! I bet she's going home to tell her boyfriend how much her life stinks" However, this very instance, we both looked at each other and said "She's really happy. I came here randomly when I decided to visit a nearby fabric store. It was after a long work day, so I really just went in to browse, and I didn't need anything in particular. If there is one thing I can say, it's that the store is ridiculously clean and organized. The lights are super bright, too. The shoe department left a lot to be desired (ew @Baby Tacky and Beyonce's House of VeryWrong, even the bright lights couldn't blind me from just how ugly these shoes were-- ok, that's mean. Sorry, Baby Phat and House of Dereon). I glanced at the clothes and accessories, but ultimately, I didn't see anything worth buying until I got to the purse section. I got the cutest yellow over-sized leather Michael Kors bag. Perfect for the summer! I seriously grabbed it and made a beeline to the cash register lest someone try to jump me for it. They have a good size shoe and luggage collection that are good bargains. My wife found some inexpensive New Balance Sneakers here for me that were half price. The last time I was here, the guy working the shoe area was quite the comedian and had us in stitches. The lines here aren't that bad, but parking can be tough here in the winter. Some of the spots are just SMALL. How many compact cars are there here anyhow? It isn't Europe! read more

I always go to this Marshall's to stock up on EO hand soap. It's $4 as opposed to $7 for the identical product at Whole Foods. I've scored some quality children's shoes here too by Primigi for under $30. Definitely hit or miss, but worth checking out. read more

Why I love this Marshalls. Shoes. Seriously, the best shoe selection I've seen in a Marshalls. And it's all so neatly layed out, not like the other ones where you have racks of shoes mixed up with randoms everywhere. This is structured more like a DSW, thus I have actually purchased a few pairs of shoes here. And they're good and inexpensive. I managed to find a pair of kick-ass New Balance sneakers for the boy for under $25! So much better than those IT geek sneakers he used to wear. I've also managed to find bathing suits for my mom that she cannot even find in NYC! $20. Booya! What a diverse experience. For starters, the basics were met. The store was clean, mostly organized, and I felt comfortable shopping there. The lady running the dressing room, however, was a different story. She was very terse and very insistent on counting the clothes (out loud) in front of us before entering and exiting the dressing room. I know this is probably store policy, but she did it to the extent that I was uncomfortable and felt mildly insulted. Additionally, I had a housewares item I wanted to purchase that I had to leave outside the dressing room while I was trying on clothes. Fine. The problem arose when I left and went to get it. Apparently, an employee had returned it to the shelf with the unwanted clothes. I retrieved it, but I was a little irritated when I made a special point to tell her I was leaving it there. On the other hand, the cashier was great! She was generally friendly and polite, but the most exceptional part was that she took the time to tell me that she bought the same shirt and how I should wash it to maintain it. She did not need to do that, and I really appreciated her taking the effort to A. notice what I was buying and B. try to help me out. Other employees were friendly and helpful, so the controlling dressing room commander may have been a fluke. read more

I definitely have to five star this Marshall's. Even the few "Cons" can't bring it down to a four. Here is all that is "good" -they totally added highend clothes to this store. To the point where a cop car is on detail parked right outside the door on the sidewalk. yay for me, yay for you..nay for shoplifters! -they have an excellent selection of beauty products and fragrances -their pocketbook dept rocks....it even seems to me, I can't find anything I like under $200? When did this happen. ;( I just don't equate Marshalls with buying a $200 pocketbook. that's just me though. -their winter coats are so friguen awesome. I found a Calvin Klein for $110 that I am going to get....just gorgeous.......before they "upgraded" You would never find anything of the sorts. -shoe dept,to me is lacking....I am just not "in" to shoes. They look nice. I recognize the brands, they are decent priced....So I can see how the shoe loves would be satisfied. -great Cambridge location if you do not live near the Marshall's in Saugas or want to trek into the Marshalls in Boston. Cons -located in Twin City Plaza. I feel warranted in bitching about this Plaza since I lived behind it for almost five years. It is home to, a plethora of homeless people, gangs of obnoxious teens, Cambridge street/hospital rehabers meeting up at DnD for coffee (no lie), crabby elderly, bratty kids, crazy drivers and than people just like me who are rushing to get away from people like those on the aforementioned list! -sometimes I feel the price range and quality of clothing is either way out of my price rang or just crap taking up space-nothing in between... I live in the "ville" and have shopped in this Marshalls on and off for many years - their selection is hit or miss, but my rating has to do more with their customer service - or the lack of it.... I put something on layaway and then forgot about it - my bad - I went to get my money refunded, but no one was at the desk. I stood in the regular store line, because there is no service desk (meanwhile people cut in line and not one of the cashiers did anything about it). Finally after waiting in line I get to a cashier, I explain to her my situation, and I am told to go to layaway. I explained that no one was there. after being cut in front of twice and waiting in line for awhile, I suggest that they should help me rather then having to wait in another line, they stood there and looked at me like I suggested they give me the money from their personal bank account. I wonder if a manager ever reads these reviews - because I would love to be contacted - I will be spreading the word about how badly your store operates. This Marshall opened a few months ago and is thus still clean and shiny. It's a decent size although they do not have as many misses items as some other locations. This store is one of my moms favorite place to shop, she could be a great commercial for them. Her favorite line is "you can get it at Marshall's for less". I stopped by here to check it out for myself. The place did not look as tidy as I thought, but it was not a great mess either! Looked at the house hold goods, pet section and their gourmet foods. We love this Marshalls . I've been a Marshalls shopper for at least 38 years since I was a teen . I've shopped at Marshalls for all my three children , small babies , and now adults . We go about once a week amd never leave empty handed we've bought from shoes , clothes , home goods , Christmas gifts ect .....and even something for my sons cat ! Don't shop here! They will tow your car! Totally true! Twin City Plaza where this Marshall's is located tows cars at random. I'm not kidding. I was shopping there, came out and my car was gone. I assumed it was stolen and was standing around wondering what to do when "mall security" drove up. They told me my car had been towed. I told them I had been shopping at Marshals but since I hadn't bought anything I couldn't "prove it". I had no choice but to pay $112 to get my car back. It's a total scam! I begged them to look at the security cameras in the store but no go. Pat's towing demanded it's money. It was that or walk home in 15 degree weather and try and hire a lawyer or something. I shopped there in june and spent over 300 dollars and was overcharged for a cupple of shirts.So I call the manager and went in the next day like we agreed to get my refund.I spoke to someone who humiliated me at the front of the store and made me wait for the manager for 15 minutes the whole time telling me he wasnt going to give me a refund. Finally the manager came to speak to me and i clarified that it was 2 shirts, the guy had told her it was several items. So she apolagised and agreed to give me a $20 gift card because i asked for it feeling that I was so badly treated and they had wasted my time.So I left there feeling better. I went to use the gift card yesterday ane it was worthless no money at all on it.So was it an honest mistake being overcharged or are they the biggest sleeze bags.I wont go there again to shop. read more
