The sole employee working in the Cashier's Office helped me out tremendously when my Apple Card would not take in the ticket machine. This is not a Ride Store location, the employees here only assist with parking issues. The large parking deck has over 1K spaces, still free for 24 hours or less & $5 per day, including the first day. The station serves local & shuttle bus connections. Hated the parking kiosk. Needs better instruction , did not print out a receipt. I had to ask how to get out. Because it didn't print a receipt. I was told it reads my plate, but I had to present the original parking ticket at the exit so that it would let me out. The 123 steps are in the wrong place to be easily read. and the Credit card slot is too small. read more

This station has a parking garage that is free for less than 24 hours. If you're staying longer it's $5 a day. The garage doesn't have much signage as far as which way the marta is after you park but other than that it's fine. read more

Sandy Springs is 2nd stop on Marta's Red Line if you're going southbound (Downtown or airport) It's 2nd to the last stop if you're going Northbound. It's free if it's less than 24 hrs. I can't say this about every station but Sandy Springs, North Springs, Dunwoody and Medical Center are all pretty clean, safe and well maintained station. But you should always keep an eye on your belongings and exercise common sense. I should add that there are a couple of places to eat around there but they require about 10-15 minutes of walk. I don't understand why an elevator AND an escalator are not working at their Sandy Springs station? The escalator to street level has been out for several days and now (just this morning 10/18) the elevator to street level is not working -- both of these are on the Mt. Vernon side of the station. I have suffered a foot injury so the massive stairs were not an option for me and I also saw a woman on crutches trying to leave the station! What kind of service is this?!!! We had a pleasant experience on MARTA. Hopped on at Sandy Springs as first time MARTA commuters. Purchased a reusable Breeze card ($1) and One Way Trip ($2.50) then waited on the platform for less than 10 minutes. Being it's second stop, there were plenty of open seats and ample room to commute with luggage. Roughly 40 minutes later and over a dozen stops, we arrived to ATL. Hassle free. I'd definitely recommend this mode of transportation if you are in the area, it sure beats sitting in traffic! and you have cell reception during the entire trip. For some reason the card reader at the machine wouldn't read my Visa debit card and I had to pay cash, this was the only hiccup we experienced. read more

Parking has always available for me. By offering shelter from the elements, there's no reason to let precipitation cast a gloomy shadow on your commute. Just a heads up, Northlake Pl is a private road and inconveniently becomes unavailable between 1630-1830. Sandy Springs Station is missing a star due to the strong smell of urine and the trash in the stairwells. Additionally, the Express bus route should have present a schedule of some sort. As of the time of this review, it no longer runs to the North Springs Station. So many people that aren't familiar with the area (or smartphones) inquire to passersby as to when the bus may arrive. A schedule would mitigate that issue. read more

As this is the station that my trip from hell started from.... so shall my review start from here. Now by no means am I a seasoned MARTA rider. I've ridden MARTA a total of 3 times in 9 years... this being my 4th and worse trip ever. I had to look up everything online to know where to pay, to get the breeze card early, what train to ride, what station to get off at..... Everything. If the website had said you had to do the chicken dance before getting on the train.... I would've done the chicken dance. But as ignorant as I was to the ways or MARTA I didn't find out that the trains had gone from being 6 cars to 4 cars until I was packed into the train like a sardine earlier today.... When the train was late this should've been the warning bell going off in my head... But I was just heading to the Braves game I was in no hurry like the daily commuters and didn't feel like paying 15$ to park at turner field... When the train arrived about 30 minutes late (from the time I arrived at the station) due to an emergency or something of that nature, it was already full but like the rest of the drones I boarded the train only semi packed in.... the next stop.... SQUISH.... everyone jammed into the train with their luggage and bags and I was crushed into a corner holding on for dear life texting my sister saying.... I'm not going to make it.... But it just continued to get even better.... NOT... So the train that I'm sure was WAY over capacity was starting to have problems.... the cars stuck in traffic on the highways we passed were moving faster than we were and that poor train huffed and puffed saying I think I can I think I can and when we got to the station (can't remember which one) the announcer said that everyone had to get off the train due to technical difficulties.... and the train said I think I.....can't.... This was a nightmare. People were upset, they weren't getting off the train, they were standing too close to the edge of the platform.... Security was pissed and yelling... It was just bad!!! When the next train finally came it was packed!!!! People started yelling again....and they packed into the train even more.... I decided to wait and not follow the drones this time which paid off because the next train was a little bit less crowded. So after a few more stops, I finally made it to Underground Atlanta, walked through to the Braves shuttle, short bus ride later and I finally got to Turner Field around 6:30ish. Braves lose, I leave and head to the shuttle to start this fun ride all over again. I had to stand on the bus as it was full and standing on a bus is NOT fun. We get to the station and by the time I make it to the platform... the train is already packed so I decided to wait on the next one. And as my internet research told me I needed to take the Doraville goldline get off at the Lindberg station to get on the redline cuz after 9pm MARTA goes bat crap crazy and does stuff that confuses riders such as myself. Soooo I'm waiting at the Lindberg station a train comes, people get off, yet we can't get on.... Everyone is standing around confused.... I assume technical difficulties because the train left empty. So as I finally take a seat to wait in my confused state... A train comes through but it says its going to the airport??? Huh... I'm really confused, so I ask a gentleman ummm is the train to Sandy Springs going to say something on it and he's like yes, it's usually not like this but they were only using 1 line outta that station (North and South bound trains on the same line.... not SUPER confusing at all) So the train finally comes and it's empty so that was finally a plus in the whole evening a place for me and my purse to sit. We finally get to the Sandy Springs station and I am relieved!!! I was so happy to see my car I could've kissed it, but I refrained from doing so. This was not the fun adventure I had in mind when I said I wanna ride Marta to the game. This was and I'll quote a gentleman from the train "How horror movies start out". It was just awful and I never want to ride MARTA again. It was tiring, confusing, and we were so packed into that train someone could've gotten pregnant, people were so close to one another. I told my sister that I wanted to throw myself on the tracks than ride that train again. Overall.... MARTA is definitely not for me. I am not the urban city gal that comfortably uses public transit. I like my car and I don't care if I'm stuck in traffic for 2 hours trying to get to the braves game.... I will not be taking MARTA again in this life time unless it's a life or death emergency and I may just choose death. Everyone kept say that it's usually not like this but seeing as how MARTA can't run a schedule on time and they reduced the cars.... When taking all things into consideration that this is a MARTA station, I think they do a nice job with this one. There is plenty of covered parking and it's easy to access. There is even a handy dandy area if you simply need to drop somebody off that isn't in the way of everybody else trying to get in park. You also don't feel rushed to drop somebody off, or have the sensation you joined a demoliton derby like you do at the airport. The waiting areas have always been clean with the signs in working order so you know how long until the train arrives. On the main level there is also a Coke machine which is a nice option to be able to grab a beverage depending on where you're heading. Helpful Tip: Keep in mind parking is free for the first 24 hours. If you park longer than 24 hours (such as returning from the airport) than you'll need to pay PRIOR to getting in your car. When you leave the turn stiles there is a window on the right where you can pay for your parking. Once you pay, hop in your car and when at the gate you'll be able to leave without any delay. read more

On the Red Line and the 2nd to last stop currently, the Sandy Springs station is quite nice. They have a plethora of parking, and while the website states Daily and Long Term parking are both $5 a day, when you get to the parking garage you will notice the signs state that you will only get charged the $5 if your car is there over 24 hours - I think this is only true for the spots on the bottom level. The station is very clean and nice and super easy to get to off of Perimeter Center West (right off of 400). There are no Zipcars available at this station or bus routes, so if you need either, get off at the Dunwoody station (at Perimeter Mall). read more

Super unfriendly staff. This location was very unprepared for the Music Midtown weekend. All machines were OUT of Breeze cards. When leaving the parking garage to put my ticket in to exit, an employee violently grabbed the ticket out of my hand and glared at me while he put it in the machine. DO NOT!!! Do not park your car here it will get broken into, multiple cars at once, no security. They don't even reimburse you for 3 days of parking after your window gets busted out. $15 I paid then walked to car and broken into. $200+ for a window nothing stolen nothing in it to steal or in plain sight. Just love that smell of B.O. and curry, combined with urine on the elevator floor. Moved away from others in elevator as much as I could.

NEVER AGAIN! We choose this station because it is one of 3 that is open 24hrs for overnight parking. We started 1/09/18 until just before midnight of 1/14/18, 2nd floor. Arrived by Lyft to pick up my car and was not able to check out.... we called the phone # stated on the check-out booth and were told that we need to come down to 1st floor to pay in person; you cannot drive down there so you need to find a parking spot, again, and take the elevator down, all this after a long overseas flight and around midnight. We were not only exhausted but very unsafe by walking the parking deck This hassle took us so much extra time wondering around the place - just to PAY!!! read more

Best route from Sandy Springs to the airport. At the airport in about 30 minutes after stepping foot onto a train. I was surprised to see that it wasn't that busy on a Tuesday morning around 7:00am, but more room for my luggage. I'll be taking Marta again on future visits to Atlanta. read more

Best attributes: ton of parking. Convenient location to a movie theatre, an LA fitness gym, and some shopping. If you want to do your shopping at Perimeter Mall, you're better off going to the Dunwoody station which is one station further. If you plan to use Marta for further locations, always add a 20-30 minute buffer because sometimes the trains can come at inopportune times or there might be some problem. Happens every now and then, it's understandable. Also note this place gets packed during rush hour times in the morning (7 am) and evening (5-6 pm) since a lot of people just park their cars and take Marta to save on gas/avoid the highway traffic (which is a great thing) read more

One of the better stops on MARTA. Warning though, in the spring/summer it can get very hot in here. Even if it is moderate outside, it will be very stagnant and dry waiting for the train. I have used this station 5 days a week for the last 2 years commuting to work and really enjoy it. read more

This review is based on a multitude of experiences at this MARTA station. First the kiosks are a joke and half never work. They always reject credit cards and when using cash they reject the very coins they dispense as change. Add to this that the Southbound trains are never on schedule. They are supposed to be 12 mins apart but I frequently wait 15-20 mins. I know this because 80% of the time I hear the train I wanted to be on coming and going while I'm trying to reload my breeze card. The other thing is security is almost nonexistent throughout the Marta system. IMarta is always wondering why ridership is so low and if they'd open their eyes and visit a few stations as regular riders it would be apparent. Marta is by far the most incompetent mass rail system in any city I've lived in or visited. read more
