Highlights: - Cellular Service sucks inside the station…read more - Watch for skaters. Protect them from themselves. - Parking in Decatur is bad, marta is cheaper/smarter. - Plenty of food around the area. - Extensive bus service for S and Central DeKalb. - Agnes Scott, Devry and Emory transit service. Decatur Station is one of the inaugural marta stations that opened in 1979 and although I have no data to support it, I would say it is Top 5 for final destinations of riders on weekdays. The exterior has been recently renovated, but over the past 25 yrs of riding marta myself, I've yet to see an interior renovation besides the breeze card machines. No big deal though. A lot of riders stop here to "visit" the DeKalb County Courthouse but it is also central to one of the best public libraries in the ATL metro area. Agnes Scott is just a klick away and Decatur HS is sneezing distance. You should have no problem making it to the restaurant and bar scene but note that marta curtails service a little after midnight so enjoy yourselves responsibly. Decatur Station bus terminal provides expansive service for S. DeKalb. I've taken it all the to the county-line where DeKalb County has a massive landfill called Seminole. To get there you go south until you smell it and then east until you step in it. Architecturally the station is below city elevation. Not as low as Peachtree Center though. The Eastbound platform is on the opposite side of the Westbound platform. I'm not sure why stations are designed that way but that's how gang wars start... separating the E and W (rimshot). A lot art work inspired by youth outreaches is displayed at the station.

It's been many years since I took a Greyhound bus to explore the…read morecountry. Greyhound still serves a good purpose to many travelers. I had to pick up acquaintance from the Atlanta location, and it was very busy on a Wednesday afternoon. I was greeted by a young lady police officer who asked if I had already purchased my ticket. I told her that I was picking up someone. She told me to go to the waiting area. Arrivals and departures were clearly marked. I passed by the ticket counter that had a real human assisting people. (Nowadays, everywhere we go, we have to deal with machines.) Ladies' room had an attendant playing with her phone. The restroom was usable, but not extremely clean. I guess that is due to a large volume of travelers? On the back of the large waiting hall was a consession stand, but I didn't check it out. Paid parking was available around the station. However, be careful when you use one of those self served parking machines. If you only stay 30 minutes, you do not need to pay money for parking till midnight. During the daytime, I felt safe because there was a policeman outside the station in a parked vehicle.

I missed my ride and had to rebook a ticket full price; this is the most unprofessional experience I've ever had in my life , the manager Keisha was just as ignorant as the bus driver who removed me from the bus only giving me the option to pay for another ticket absolutely no one attempted to work with me even though I had a ticket. Everyone was extremely rude with piss poor customer service skills bad attitudes and even uglier spirits... don't apply for a job if you don't have a desire to work or be nice because exceptional customer service is 85% of the Job. Bottom line is treat people the way you want to be treated. I've taken all forms of transportation and this is by far the worst experience of my life; never again... and to the manager Keisha and the bus driver.. please go straight to hell on a one way ticket! Keisha ls the Backyardigan looking lady with those spacy teeth, she needs a direct customer service crash course immediately and shouldn't be a manager with that Type of attitude; I've managed many businesses and never ever have I given any customer that type of hard time. DO BETTER.
