Rating is for Marta overall mainly gold & red line. In leu of Peachtree road race 2025 our family had the smart idea to park at Marta then ride and walk to the hotel. This cuts out the $50 a day for hotel parking, the Doraville station has surface & parking deck areas, two nights was $16. Lenox station is cheaper FYI. I had only rode Marta one other time before this and it was over 10 years prior, I was mainly traveling solo on Marta this time. For the Doraville station be sure not to park in the front parking as this is NOT overnight and you will be towed. The ticketed parking is just beside with minimal security. Doraville is the gold line that goes into Lenox where the race starts; our stop was Peachtree center. The trick to going from Peachtree back to Lenox is to know that both red & gold run on same track, which I didn't. I got on the train saying North Springs and ended up at Medical Center before realized, rode back to Lindbergh then gold to Lenox. The train itself is minimally occupied unless a big event is going on. It was somewhat clean as meaning no visible trash. There are homeless persons all around the escalators underground and you may get accosted on the platform but just be smart. I put the Breeze mobile app on and bought 3 day pass for $16, my main issue was the QR code picking up on the scanner. Every time I dreaded it because would never scan on first, 2nd, maybe 3rd try if was lucky. Overall IMO, Marta is a deal at $2.50 to go all over the city pretty quickly. It can be a little sketchy at night but just be aware of surroundings. read more

This MARTA station is probably my most frequented MARTA station considering it ends here if you live more north of I-85. I usually come here when I don't want my mom to come all the way to the airport to pick me up. The Doraville Station is exactly what it is -- it's one of the safer stations I would say. But it's really nothing special. MARTA itself needs a lot of work and it's really outdated. The last time I was here, the elevator was broken so I had to carry hella luggage down the stairs and that was pretty disastrous. But it is what it is. If you're looking for affordable transportation to the airport and you don't wanna ask for a ride or can't find a ride, at least find a ride here so you can go from here. read more

MARTA is losing money from not collecting fares and giving homeless free rides and a home to live on the train and in the stations. Not safe. Homeless vagrants push thru the gates without paying the fare, they pee in the elevators and trains, they poop in their pants and leave poop stains on the seats of the train and they ride & sleep in the trains back and forth all day to avoid the heat and cold outside. MARTA has become a homeless shelter and I think it's high time that the board of directors for MARTA be removed and replaced to include MARTA senior management and the MARTA Chief of Police. MARTA's slogan is: To advocate and provide safe, multi-modal transit services that advance prosperity, connectivity and equity for a more livable region. Well it's not safe and they are advocating the homeless to ride and live in around their stations and trains. When MARTA needs money and their bond issue pops up there should be no support. There should be no Federal support or grants money until they clean-up and get strict on this horrid harboring the homeless and the expenses of other riders. read more

After reading reviews online I was skeptical of trying the system. However it's actually not as bad as people make it seem; there's screens that tell you when your train arrives, the trains were clean and surprisingly comfortable. Now, it's a 4 star because of the homeless, this is not an issue of Marta alone. Atlanta is FULL of homeless everywhere! The Doraville Marta Transit Station is the last station in the gold line. You can transfer here to the Gwinnett county bus service. The station it self is above ground, which makes it cooler and the sunlight makes it less depressing. There are some bike racks around. The art displayed in this station is a group of paintings scattered across the wall, but the main wall sculpture was taken down :( and the public piano was turned to the wall so you can't play it anymore. This stop is on the Gold Line. It's the first stop going Southbound (downtown or airport) and the last stop going Northbound. If you're going to the airport it should take on the average about 40-ish minutes (17 stops). The station has about 1200 parking spaces. From the parking deck to the station itself is open space so if its raining...it's not going to be pleasant. The card machines to add value to your Marta breeze cards were a little worn. I had to switch to two machine because I couldn't get the credit card swipe to read my card. Also you have to really push down on the buttons in order to get it to register your requests. I have absolutely zero love for this Marta station. From the way it is designed down to the pissy elevators. I commute to Gwinett County every day and unfortunately I have to travel to this station to catch the bus. When you get to the station they have multiple sets of sets going down to the buses. There is one elevator that goes up to the platform. It is always reeking of urine. I do not know why people use it as a bathroom because this is the one station that marta allows the public to use the bathroom. Disgusting. There is only two places to sit whole waiting for a train on the platform. One is on the north end and the other is on the south end. The bench on the south end is enclosed in glass. It is however disgusting and pissy. Marta you should be pressure washing your stations at least every 3 months. That smell had been there for years. It will make you gag. If you have problems walking this is not the station for you. The kiss and ride is on the far south end of the station. You have to meet your Uber or Lyft there. Again this is a walk especially when you have issues plus the parking lot is tiny and gets congested when folks drop off or wait for passengers. And it is pissy as well. Relatively safe and clean. Has a taxi stand, kiss ride area and lots of parking. You can use station phones to contact Marta workers to open the bathrooms. The bathrooms are kept locked otherwise. There's a wall with bus schedules you can keep and benches to sit on while you wait for a bus. The ride is comfortable and has some nice views from tracks that are often above the city. Sometimes, you'll go through tunnels and lose your signal though. No buskers or "ShowTime!" like in NewYork city. The stations aren't a mall with shops and restaurants like in DC. Very few homeless people or loiterers hanging out at Doraville Station. Doraville Police Station is Across the street. I've used some of the best public transportation in America- New York and D.C. Atlanta, in comparison, is only scratching the service of its potential. It would be better if it extended further North, further East, South and West. "This is the end of the Gold Line..." and everyone rush to the park and ride lots to get their cars to continue their journey home. I am one of them. Apart from all those gas and CO2 reduction talks, parking here and ride MARTA to downtown (in my case, Georgia Tech) saves tons of time in the AM and PM peak hours. That 85/400 merge is a congestion monster. Other than pulling a doll next to my car seat for HOV, MARTA makes the most sense. The park and ride trend here is fun. There are 2 open lots with about 75-100 spaces in total, and 1 big gated lot and deck with god-knows-how-many spaces. EVERYONE would circle the open lots first to see if there are spaces. Well at least I did that since it is way closer than walking to the deck. My successful percentage is about 75% so it's pretty good. Sometimes even they are full, people just park on the grass. But my caution to you is DO NOT park at those Kiss-and-ride spaces. I saw tickets being given on one day. Yes, one day out of n days. I did also took the bus up to Duluth once. I took Gwinnett Bus 10 back to Sugarloaf Park and ride. Oh man that took 1 hour and I believe I got charged another $2.50 even though they said free connection. So, never again. read more

This is a pretty straight forward mass transit station. Good parking easy to follow instructions to get on a train and overall it is kept in pretty good condition. Train runs every 15 minutes and they have a go pretty late and start early, so you are bound to find the train you need. 24 hour parking is free and it is $8 for long term parking up to 45 days. My biggest real complaint is less about the station itself, but just the overall design of Marta. It like many other transit systems could be so much more effective if they simply built along the highways. The fact that anyone living North of 285 towards Gwinnett County has to drive to this station to make use of Marta is pretty sad. Would be great if it went past 285... read more

This is the end of one of the North lines. Parking is easy in a ground lot or garage. Even on crowded evenings (for example, Atlanta United game nights), we have been able to find parking. The station is relatively small and quite easy to navigate. Almost every time I have been, a train has been waiting and available for boarding when I arrived. On my last visit, an employee even tipped me off to which train would be leaving first. Grateful to have this station somewhat close to Gwinnett. read more

Marta route 25 acused me today of not having enough funds, I reload my card ONLINE and I mentioned it. Being I can pull up proof of purchase. I had this card in a card holder which had never been a problem. He said to remove it off it like 4x times which is hard to so I said I couldnt because it was hard to remove, had to and broke it since he was gonna make me get off the buss at this point! I love Marta. I wish the gold line extended further up north, but I don't think that will ever happen because they good ol' suburban folks will flip out. Back when I used to live in Johns creek, I would take the xpress bus to this stop then take the Marta train to midtown station. From there, I would take the tech trolley into Georgia tech. Ahh the good ole days. Public transportation is always better than getting stuck in traffic. The train schedule is very reliable and safe during regular commute hours. You can even take naps on the train, something you can't do if you're driving! I wish people would take Marta more so that public transportation would expand in metro Atlanta. read more

I used this MARTA Station all the time when I worked in Atlanta, it was my commute beginning point. While most MARTA stops aren't fantastic, this one really could use some work. First, they close the restrooms and some awful time like 7 PM. You would think that a good portion of public transportation users are coming from work, hopping on the train, and going wherever. Wouldn't it make sense in the evenings to have restrooms available to these customers? Well, not at this location. You have to ride to another location and find open restrooms. Silly. Also, if it is raining, you will not have a pleasant experience. While there is some level of shelter on the platform, it isn't walled at all, and so most rain can get in and drench you while you wait on the train. There are numerous instances where the train is sitting there waiting to depart, but the doors are closed and you can't board. This is also frustrating. It seems that the stops at the ends of the lines are the worst, and this one isn't very good. read more

Marta, it's nothing spectacular. If you've read other reviews or are currently standing at the station you've likely already realized that. As far as city transit goes, it lands smack dab in the middle of average. It's not the best and it's certainly not the worst. It's not trash covered, relatively clean and the subway runs on time. I'm not alone with this thought, but I wish Marta went more places and was conveniently located. The original plan of the subway system and locations was terrible. It leaves much to be desired when you consider what other major metropolitan cities have done. But at this point what can they do? Looks like Marta is here for the foreseeable future. *sigh* Until driverless cars take over :) Until then, ride on and put trash in the provided trash cans. read more

The Doraville station is the closest Marta station to me these days, so I use it for convenience. I never actually had any problem with the station until I used their parking deck. Maybe problem is a strong word, but all of the doors on the parking deck have handles to get IN the stairs on all levels, but if you want to take the stairs to get back to your car, there are no handles to get back into the levels (kinda sucks when you forgot something in the car on the fourth floor). The exit booth operator did tell me the only way up was the elevator, or to walk up the ramps. So don't forget your gum is all i'm saying...unless you want to walk You do have to get punch and get a ticket to access the parking, but it's free unless you stay overnight. I've never had to wait more than 10 minutes to grab a train, and no real service issues. So basically i'm just griping about door handles. All in all, i'll keep using the station because of convenience. read more

I've taken MARTA's Doraville station countless times. It's hard to write a review about this place as once you've been there a few times, you figure out how to get in and get out. Therefore, this review looks at areas they could improve in, especially for first-time travelers. Pros: The MARTA kiss-and-ride is a convenient drop off area when sending your family or friends away or picking them up. In the two dozen times I've been there I've never had an issue with parking. Cons: When you go through the MARTA gate, my biggest gripe is having only a stairwell at the immediate entrance to get up to the platform. Yes, yes, I know that an escalator is just a short walk further down, but for first-time travelers that aren't familiar and are pressed for time, they might benefit with some signage or easier escalator access, especially if they're carrying luggage for a ride to the airport. Many times I've just decided to walk up the stairwell with rollers simply because it was closer access to the platform. For people with check-in luggage, this could get more challenging. Tips: -Doraville is the last stop on Gold Line's north end. Take the train directly to the last stop to get to the airport. -Park your car at the kiss-and-ride spots and wait for your family and/or friends to get to the station. read more

When using public transportation you never know if the trains will be on time, will it be dirty, is there anyone to help if there are questions, these are some the things we ask ourselves so let me clear up a few things. The Station - Is relatively clean and you will see people sweeping or picking up things when needed. Parking - Two different lots are available a small one directly in front of the station and on the left a large parking area with a deck. Day parking and long term are available as long as your car is parked under 24 hours parking is free otherwise a fee of $ 8.00 a day will be charged, loose that ticket and you could be charged $ 60.00. Questions - Sadly there is not a person available for questions about schedules or train times, if you can find a person who works there they will tell you to "go to Marta on the go." Security - A person that shall remain nameless was riding the train this week and happened to be riding in a train with no cameras and was placed in a horrible situation, they dialed 911 the train was stopped before it got to the next station and the man arrested. Summary - Keep your eyes open and be aware of your surroundings at all times, remember that there are rules when riding Marta and if you don't follow them they can bounce you off that train and ban you permanently. Does it make any sense to anyone that Marta stations don't all have bathrooms accessible to the public....or at least riders?! This location has small bathrooms, but you have to ask an attendant to unlock the door, and they ALWAYS give you attitude. They walk over as slow as possible and then glare at you or mumble incoherent jibberish. Marta needs to train these people to be professional or at least put a modicum of effort into just doing their damn jobs. Hundreds of riders pass through each station every hour and only a handful of stations have single-person bathrooms that remain locked. If anyone who runs Marta is paying attention, they need to heed the COMMON SENSE of just having open public bathrooms for everyone. If we get off a train or tap past the gate, I think we should have the dignity of being able to use a damn bathroom. read more

This is a pretty good station except that everyone from Gwinnett County uses this station for all sports games, therefore just be aware that when a game gets out you'll never get out of the parking because of Doraville city red lights that are not built for handling traffic flow. This station has plenty of parking and cleaner than the other stations, but mornings can get rough. There is security on site so no need to feel unsafe, but as with all public transportation it's going to smell like urine. On a side note, just make sure security is around because I did find a 9mm hollow point bullet randomly in the parking lot. Of course this is ATL so nothing out of the norm. read more

The Doraville Marta Station is a great place to park for trips and for commuting. At $8.00 a day with a parking garage and long-term parking it is not a bad deal. Trains run every 15 minutes, the wait time is minimal. Attendants and on duty. Located near police department is a plus. read more

The bathroom is always closed after 5PM and I'm always there after 5PM. When I get back around 10PM, I forced to have to use a bathroom at a gas station because there bathroom is closed and I'm terrified of that area. The elevater stinks so bad. They have a escalator going up but not going down. I'm disabled so this is a huge inconvenience to me. Security is good there. You can always get a handicap parking pace there if you come in the entrance straight from Park street. The parking ticket collector that is the exit towards park street is broke alot so the only alternative is going right to the parking deck where a lady is there collecting tickets. Thank goodness for her because if you hit help on the ticket collector, nobody responds and nobody will answer any of the nonemergency phone numbers. They will answer the emergency phone number and tell you they will send someone and same with the help phone in the Marta station. No one ever comes so I'm forced to try to figure out how to help myself. read more

I live in Kennesaw but work in Doraville, could anyone suggest a transit route I've never tried the Marta system here in Atlanta. I would like to avoid driving on 75 in my car anymore.
