I have to tell y'all something, I did not come in here because it was a pharmacy. I came in here looking for a quick item I needed. So I cannot speak to the pharmacy experience in here that the other reviews are focusing on. What I can share with you is my experience. Let me start by saying that this feels like an extension to the hospital system across the street. More so in the way that it feels like an extension of the gift shop with the added benefit of having a pharmacy in house. I will expand on that. What they do have in house is fairly sparse, and wildly overpriced. So you see what I mean that it feels like an extension of the gift shop. Fairly weird setup as well. Don't expect to find any particular item in here, they do have the essentials somewhat covered, but really not worth a stop here unless it is dire. As far as the employees go, they probably could benefit from an etiquette course. They will go out of your way to ignore you and act like you aren't there looking for assistance. When you ask them to repeat themselves because you could not hear them for how low they were speaking, it was like you insulted them. I'm sorry, we are not in a church, nor are we mice. read more

Oh, where to begin? Let's start with the fact that I have been going to this pharmacy for YEARS, I'm always respectful, patient, and understanding. I have state insurance and I used to have an issue with my medication needing prior authorization at different pharmacies where I'd be waiting for hours to get my script. Well, I never had to do that at Martellas. But one day, about 2 to 3 months ago, I went in to pick up my script and I was told that they couldn't fill it. I was told initially it was a problem with my insurance. Well, this is Saturday, and later in the day, no one is answering the phone anywhere. Then I'm told by the one cashier who constantly talks and talks all about herself that they no longer accept my insurance, or any state insurance for that matter. Like what am I supposed to do now? I started to go into like a mini panic mode thinking I wouldn't have my meds. It was a lot of messing around and back and forth on the phone with different people, but it all got figured out, thankfully. That whole situation irritates me still, and I have no idea why, all of a sudden, they decided they were not taking state insurance anymore. I thought as a pharmacy, they had to take any type of insurance but I sure was wrong. I believe they are discriminating against people who are on welfare, especially with the way some of the pharmacists look at you from behind the window when they know that's the type of insurance you have. Not that it's relevant or anyone's concern but I do work a full-time job and still can't afford the necessities. read more

This is a new pharmacy for me because I need delivery. I have had to make several phone calls for different reasons. On my last delivery I found my credit card info written on a sticky note stapled to the bag! All my card info!!! I was going to call and go off and then I read some of these reviews. If the owner doesn't give a shit then, what's the point. Time to find a new pharmacy! read more

So I get my sons medications filled through Martella's Pharmacy. He has my primary insurance and we have medical assistance as a secondary insurance to pick up whatever my primary doesn't cover. I constantly have problems with them either needing prior auths or "forgetting" to bill the secondary insurance. My latest issue with them is about a month and a half ago I got a surprise bill in the mail from them saying I owe about 18 dollars and I called about it because it should have been picked up by the secondary. They said they needed a prior auth for the secondary insurance and they delivered the medicine already and didn't tell me I owed anything at that time (obviously I would have refused the delivery and waited the extra day or two until it went through). I requested the owner to call me back to discuss this because I shouldn't be held for this bill when every time this happened in the past at least they would call you and let you know or when they delivered it they would tell you that you owed money. Well I've already called two more times about it because I never heard anything back and just today "Joe" the owner called me to get a payment because it's now over 19 dollars owed on his account. I asked why I never heard anything back from him until now and I explained what happened. He basically didn't want to hear anything from me, didn't care what happened with the whole situation and told me I needed to pay this money now. I said the reason why he has medical assistance is to help with these medical bills. He didn't care and I said well if you'd rather us take our business elsewhere we can do that (we've been getting his medications here for years) and his response was "yup that's fine - bye" and hung up the phone on me. I was in there to fill a script he was extremely rude to me and also he (the owner) told me to get my script filled somewhere else. Then I purchased two items and he refused to give me my receipt and told me I would not be getting one and that I could not return the items I just bought I did not want to contribute any money to that scumy store. read more

Received the "correct " medication but a brand that had a bad reaction with me in the past and when I went through Giant Eagle they understood and changed it to the coated correct medication I have been using with good results for years. I talked to the male pharmacist and even though I explained I know I shouldn't have assumed that they knew to use the same brand I have been with giant eagle and rite aid and that even though Giant Eagle fixed that for me without charge before that I did not expect that he jumped on me about having to wait until the next month unless I myself had the doctor call him to change it to what I always get and figure it all out myself and have to pay twice when the whole reason I went there was because I lost my insurance and the blink discount program was cheapest through them. Not to add I gave information about this program to several associates in the pharmacy while I was waiting for my scripts so that they were able to maybe help those patients of theirs who also don't have insurance. I am a very nice person and very forgiving and not the kind to write bad reviews, but I was just talked down to by a pharmacist who denied that different brands of drugs have any different side effects in certain individuals. I actually have a PharmD myself with a suspended license under my maiden name and haven't practiced since 2010 but I don't think anything has changed when it comes to people responding differently to different drugs or brands of drugs because we all have different body chemistry. So currently I am waiting until tomorrow to talk to the doctor HOPEFULLY and be able to get the brand I need and be able to afford it after paying for something that would kill my stomach and I have not touched. Hopefully my doctor will let me bring the untouched brand to them to discard or something (money down the drain) and I can get my medication which helps keep me going and living and working rather than laying in bed depressed waiting for life to be over and missing what was...Don't mean to be so personal, but if doctors and pharmacists are practicing they should understand that their action literally can determine what happens to a person and their life. read more
