Beware of this service department--trust the bad reviews. I ignored the warnings and now have a broken car that needs thousands of dollars in repairs. I originally brought in my Corvette running perfectly, needing only a bad fuel sensor replaced to pass smog. Major issues I experienced: *Horrible Communication: A simple 4-hour job turned into an 8-hour wait at the dealership. *Shady Billing: They tried to charge me $60 more for a part than what was on the initial estimate. *Negligent Mechanics: The fuel gauge read correctly and the check engine light was off when I left, but 14 hours later, the exact same issue returned. On my way back to the dealer, my car broke down on the freeway and had to be towed. Now, they claim I need a new fuel pump and crossover bar for an additional $2,300. The service advisor dismissed it as a "coincidence" that it broke down the very next day. I had my car towed out immediately to prevent them from causing any further damage. I spoke directly with Jason, the owner, but reached no resolution. Their mindset seems to be that unless you pay $300 for a diagnostic, they have free rein to damage your vehicle. I was going to order one thru GM knowing that I would have at least a 6 month wait. I happened to search the area online and found that Martens had the exact spec I was wanting. I spoke to Melissa over the phone and she was great and answered all of my questions. I waited a few weeks and there was absolutely no pressure. When I was ready, I called Melissa and the vehicle was still there. The next day I showed up for my cash purchase and went home with the vehicle in a few hours. The no pressure atmosphere was great. NEVER GOING BACK TO THIS DEALERSHIP! I experienced the worst customer service in the service department. The owner, Jason, is very rude, disrespectful and dishonest. The aggression I received while talking to Jason was very unprofessional. I had to take back my truck 3 times to get it fixed. They kept erasing the codes and the check engine light kept turning on every single time I would go pick it up. They kept my truck for 1 MONTH which is extremely ridiculous! Jason offered to do a FREE SMOG as a courtesy the second time I took the truck and later denied he ever said that. I do not recommend anyone to go here. read more

After dealing with a nightmare of a deal with Lithia Hyundai in Fresno and Capital One, we were reluctant to get into another vehicle. But to make our move across the country, we needed an suv. I browsed online for dealerships with good ratings, matched them up with good ratings on CarGurus and landed at Marten's Chevrolet. Melissa was great! I told her I refused to do business with capital one auto and she made sure no credit inquiries were sent to them. She had us pre-approved within minutes over the phone. Then helped us out once we arrived the next day as well. After test driving a few vehicles, we were in and out of there within an hour. The suv was detailed, very clean and runs great. Recently serviced too. The vehicle we chose ended up having a minor issue with the back seat passenger door handle (easily overlooked in my opinion as the issue only presented when trying to be opened from the inside. If I didn't have kids I probably wouldn't have found out for a long time) They got us in quickly and fixed it the same day at no cost. I would definitely do business with them again! read more

I purchased a used 2015 Silverado from Martens Friday . I was so excited to show my wife my new truck and before I could drive back to my home in Fowler, a check engine light and a stability control light came on. I had owned the vehicle for none hour. I drive conservative and have no explanation for this. The truck only has 50k miles on it. I don't know what's going on but I really hope their service dept can schedule me in. I have to wait till Monday to call cause they are closed. So my "new" truck is parked in my drive way cause I don't want to make it any worse than it might be already. OnStar says Engine code P0300 & U0401. Which is a engine misfire and a problem with my ABS. I hope no one is clearing codes or anything like that. I still have to same half tank they gave me when I bought it in it. So depressing. But I will update this post as soon as I talk to someone. Fingers crossed! UPDATE: So I went back and talked to the service dept they were more than helpful. Buddy and Desiree were awesome. Long story short the owner signed for it and they completely fixed my truck and at no charge. Freaking amazing and awesome service. I will definitely be back when I am ready to upgrade my truck. My car had a problem so I called Chevrolet who told me there was a recall on my vehicle for that problem and they directed me to Martens. When I called Martens and woman named Desiree answered and I asked if there was a recall on my vehicle (knowing there was) and after giving her my VIN number she said no there's no recall (strange right?). So I went in person and spoke to a lovely older man in the Services department and he said YES there is a recall! So they fixed my car under the recall warranty. read more

I dropped off a vehicle to have service completed and I started to feel very uneasy about it. Bought a vehicle here only to receive two check engine lights back to back. First light happened 30 minutes after I left the dealer so I returned and they said it was an injector harness. They did an update and "fixed" it. 1 hour into my drive home it comes on again. This time it was a sensor that apparently couldn't be found at any dealer in Ca, which a Chevrolet dealer near me had in stock. The second light came on 3 hours after I got my truck back from them after fixing the first light. I told them I would take it to a dealer near me (mind you I live two hours away from this dealer) they were fine with that but prefered it getting repaired by them so they offered a free oil change for the inconvenience and adding unnecessary mileage going back and forth for issues. Long story short I get the truck back only to find out the oil change was never completed, apparently they misunderstood doing an oil change even though THEY offered to do one, complimentary. Went to this dealer due to positive reviews on them but only to walk out highly disappointed with the constant issues. read more

My 89-yr-old mother and I are high risk for life-threatening illness for CoVid-19 due to respiratory problems and have been dedicated about staying home at all costs. We have both had automotive work done at Martens and it met set expectations. After staying locked down for 4 months, the Governor issued the mandate for masks in business and public places and we felt like we could get some of our important business done. She needed a state required smog check and decided to change the oil early. I needed a new alternator. We book separately but ended up on the same day. She called while I was on my way, very distraught because they didn't require employees or customers to follow the mandate to wear masks and she was in their service lobby with people waiting around. One vet said he had survived Vietnam so CoVid was a non-issue. I suggested she to cancel the work and leave immediately, so she did. I canceled my own. Jason Martens' response was that they had a plexiglass shield for their customer service person and they wipes keys and steering wheels at the end of the work, thus attempting to protect people. That didn't protect her as she sat in the lobby with multiple people coming and going. Plus, the smog machine was down so her trip virtually wasted on an early oil change. She went home with high anxiety and I don't blame her. A smog check is not worth risking your life over. We don't even get together, heart breaking as it is. Until you have not had enough breath to call 911 for an ambulance, you have no idea how critical breathing is. They are irresponsible for failing to enforce the mask mandates and not notifying their customers. It is currently the law. The first generation founders lived where my mom lives now and they certainly would have protected their older customers, like they were protected before they passed. I will not return to Martens. I no longer trust them to simple follow regulations. If you will pass over one that can save a life, what will you do with others? I took our cars to Reedley Auto after calling and being assured that they were wearing masks. Their smog machine was also working and they are very aware that CoVid-19 is already spreading in the community. As a retired Director of an agency dealing with a viral epidemic for 5 years, I know why public health guidelines are put in place. Last week I took my Chevy Traverse for service and they where great. My husband and I have bought our last three cars at Martens. I will never go back to Fresno or Madera Chevrolet dealers. Every time I went to Chevrolet dealers in Fresno they tried to sell me parts I did not need. They also tried to sell me the same car that Martens had, for $5,000 more. In 2010 my husband had a bad car accident and totaled our car. I had to go by myself to look for a new car. Marten Chevrolet was the only place that did not try to take advantage of me. This is why my husband and I have bought our last three cars at Martens and I will only go there for my car services. They have never tried to sell me any parts I did not need while doing my car services or fixing my car. I live in Madera and Marten's also get me in and out while I wait for me car. Today I had the worse experience with martens Chevrolet dealership at Reedley, I had seen a vehicle that was priced at 25k on one of there internet advertisements. so I drove from out of town to go look at the truck. I arrived, test drove the vehicle, they ran my credit and then told me the truck is 10,000 more then the advertised price. They also had the nerve to tell me that was the wrong vehicle they had showed me and had the truck I was looking for in the back of the lot, so they had checked to look and came back to me to find out that the truck doesn't even exist. This is very upsetting because they are falsely advertising vehicles. All "Nacho" and Melissa did was give me was high hopes, wasted my time and lied about having a vehicle that didn't even exist! This place has the most awful customer service, I took in my 2015 Silverado that is under warranty and they refused to look at a problem with a stain I had on my mirrors. Their exact words from the service manager Lance Wardwell " we get hurt when you don't buy a car from us but expect us to work on it under warranty, and we have the right to refuse service." how about 0 stars? this place a joke they have had my car for 3 weeks....3 WEEKS. let me start at the beginning with these lazy people. lack of communication idk what's going on....but here we go...3 weeks ago I took my car in an was told my warranty would cover the engine an I should know by Friday which was 2 days later I dropped the car off on a Wednesday. so Friday I call an I'm told that the man gonna work on my car isn't even gonna look at it till Monday WHAT? had I know this from the start I'd never of towed my car to them having talked to the man before I dropped it off being told it'll be checked by Friday. ok so I'm irritated an ok whatever. these people for 3 weeks couldn't tell me what they were doing to my vehicle first they said they were replacing my engine an its coming from reno nevada an will be a few more days. which my vehicle only had about 38000 miles on it so still under warranty. so they told me a few days later an I called back an I was told they didn't know if they were replacing pistons or the whole motor an I'm like ok you told me my motor is coming from Reno? what do you mean? this is ridiculous an the man Lance told me he's waiting on general motors for an approval. WHATTTTTTT I'm just outraged. 3 weeks I now have no job an have very important dr Apts. I can't make an haven't made. so here it is week 3 an all they have to tell me is my motor should be there tomorrow....it's insane people..for sure gonna have someone check this out or get ahold of general motors an find out how things work with warranties if it take dam near a month. I couldn't imagine it should be this long. who expects someone to not have a vehicle this long? just pushing it aside not wanting to do it laziness I'm not sure but gonna find out. read more

After receiving a letter by mail for a recall on my vehicle, I made an appointment to go in for an ignition/starter replacement on a 99 Malibu. I went in and the service was fast, everything seemed to go well. Well low and behold, about three weeks after the cover for the ignition was replaced (it was metal and it was changed to a plastic cover) the key started jamming and the car has difficulty turning on (it had never had an issue before the replacement). I went in to this establishment to see of they could fix their BOTCHED REPLACEMENT and they looked at me as if I was stupid, claiming the replacement just included a key cover and nothing else; HELLO did the new plastic cover magically appear (note it was the original metal one before!)? They claimed that they had never even gone in the car, but the best part was that in order for them to fix this issue that they themselves caused but refused to admit, they wanted a total of 280 dollars!!!!!!!!! Before I came in for this so called recall, my car was fine, now I have a 300 dollar fix for something these con artist, scheming individuals did. Lesson to be learned: IF YOU GET A LETTER FOR A RECALLED IGNITION/STARTER from these individuals, get your service elsewhere, especially if your car is fine because they will botch it and then refuse to admit it in order to get more money from you....YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. read more
