My service engine light was on and I had to pass emissions by 3/21. I was calling around Sheboygan looking for a automotive service starting in mid February. I'm new to the Sheboygan area and couldn't find anyone to even look at my car till March 17th and that ended up being the dealership, who wanted $100 just to look at it!! I ran across Martin's Automotive at 729 S 8th Street in Sheboygan WI a couple of days b4 my appointment at the dealership. They offered me an appointment that same day, but I work 3rd shift so I scheduled it for that Friday morning after work, got there early they took me right away, put it on the diagnostic machine and found the issue in about 15 min and were ready to fix it that day for under $200... that included the $75 for the diagnostic (mechanics here are making $100 and hr and that's what the dealership was charging me to just LOOK at the car) the $100 something for the part and labor. I didn't have the time to stay Friday, and my fiance left his car at home and rode with me. So i set the appointment for Monday after work we were there at 7 a.m. and had it back and fixed before 7:30 a.m. They were kind, courteous, informative, very professional, and did not charge me a complete $75 for the diagnostic because it didn't take but about 10 minutes to find the problem... I can't say enough about how much I appreciated their pre-purchase check. The cost was very reasonable. They went through the car thoroughly in a very short turnaround time including a test drive. I had total confidence in the results of their work. From their website, I could see that they have been in this family owned business for a long time (since 1929) and have invaluable experience with almost any car. They also have experience with various new and used car dealers in the area. They know who is reputable and who isn't. In my case, the dealer happen to be reputable and there were no surprises when the car was checked out. I was able to purchase the car with confidence. Took my car in to fix an idiot light related to the seat belt "tensioner." Was told it would be over $300 and wasn't covered on the warranty. While waiting in the waiting room in the following minutes, Jamie (the owner) came out of his office and said "You won the lottery." Turns out one of his techs, while checking on the car warranty status, noticed a tech bulletin from Hyundai on this same issue, which said that Hyundai would fix it for free. He told me if I took my car to the Hyundai dealer they'd fix it for free. So his honesty cost him a $300 job but gained him my respect and appreciation. We had some noise coming from the front of our suv so I called Jamie at Martin. He had Aaron go for a test drive with me but the noise wasn't there at that time. Left the shop and the noise came back, so I called Jamie on my cell phone and he had Aaron meet me in front of his garage and go for another test drive. Long story short, he heard the noise and was able to fix the problem that same morning. They were able to give me a loaner car for a short time. They are all so friendly and helpful. Got a starter put on my car a few months ago.. I'm new to the sheboygan area so I wasn't sure where to go..I happened to find this place on Google and am I ever glad I did. They were super friendly and took great care of me..they gave me a loaner so I could still get to work..they came and towed my car from my job..and when I got my car back it ran even better than it did before it broke down on me.
