i had my third PRP facial 2 days ago and my skin looks fine, even wo any make up. At 59 I think my skin looks pretty good. I dont look 40 or even 50. But I look great for 59. a mani-pedi once a month is what this costs me, and this lasts the yr. so that's a valuable present to myself. The procedure is pretty fast and hardly painful at all, for me. The staff is lovely. Thoughtful and considerate. I only met one person that seemed cold,aloof maybe. Dr Salm did a Mohs surgery on my forehead and did a wonderful job! The scar is barely noticeable. And he said I cud come in and get it lasered for free. But it's so faint it doesn't seem worth the trouble. In addition to his skill, he just seems like the nicest man. If I could leave 0 stars, I would. I've had multiple terrible experiences at this office with several providers. The office is old and filthy with the most unsanitary medical practices. I've worked in ski clinics that are cleaner. The provider misdiagnosed my son's skin bumps as warts and was ready to freeze dozens of spots. A second opinion found them to be caused by eczema and his skin was cleared completely with non invasive treatment. I've heard several horror stories of skin samples being tossed in the trash, instead of being sent for biopsy and the list goes on. It's so unfortunate that Tahoe doesn't have better dermatology care! read more

Been to his other offices, same over booking. In my opinion the man is pure milk toast. No wonder so many of his staff have left his practice. He has received so many complaints he uses an outside source to answer bad reviews. I fully expect a canned response from his outside complaint responder. Overbooks. Had been using him for over 35 years. Have had to wait no less than 30 minutes to over 2 hours on every appointment. Have been to his other offices, exactly the same. He is very unprofessional & cannot make a decision, pure milk toast. So many complaints, he's hired a third party to answer unhappy patients. I fully expect to get a canned reply from this clown. Salm likes to pick my brain on Real Estate matters. Have to remind him why I'm at his office, total greed & lack of professionalism. It's no wonder why his staff turnover is so high. It's a very uncomfortable work environment. I finally had enough over supposed dr & canned him. Now use Carson Tahoe dermatology, Doctor Max. A true professional. No wait time. Says he gets most of new patients from Salms unreliable office. My advise to you if you're using Salm is to run don't walk from this overbooking, maniac. read more

I have been doing Micro needling about every 2 to 3 months at Dr. Salm's office in South Lake Tahoe. I recently had an appointment with a new esthetician at the practice. My husband goes to this office for a long time and always complains to me about the waiting time. When I had my appointment, I saw the NP. I have something in my nose that never heals She called a "big pore". I have something in my arm that is there for 2 years and asked a biopsy, and she put in the file I have a bruise, but at least she took the sample to biopsy. When I need to reschedule the appt. she was strict that needed to be 2 weeks. My schedule was really tight and she said she could not see me in Minden office because one day more will be a big difference. She said she will give me the results of the biopsy and the blood tests I did. When the appt .came, she never saw me. She asked her assistant to take my stitches, and I never got any result, even for the blood work, or biopsy. nothing. I am still here without any result, just sure that they don't care at all about their patients. read more

Dr. Salm is a miracle worker, he removed an aggressive basal skin carcinoma on my nose. It took all day and he was so patient and kind. Even after 8+ hours he did not rush my repair of a nickel sized hole. One week later, stitches are out and I am looking good on the road to recovery. It was not without Aaron who held my hand, remained positive, and expedited my slides, Georgia who patiently removed my stitches, and Regina and Jen who answered all my questions with a smile. I had some cancerous spots that needed to be removed and I am glad that Advanced Dermatology didn't make me wait too long. The staff and PA's are so patient and courteous. I've been going here for a couple years and always see the NP. Had something come up that the doctor needed to see but had to Wait two months to get an appointment. Show up for my 4:15 appt. People are herding in and out the door in masses. 30 mins later I'm still waiting so I ask about my 4:15 appt. The lady next to me states she has been waiting 45 mins. The receptionist says she will check. Response is "we had some emergency skin cancer patients, we won't be able to call you back for another 30 mins." I call bullshit. You are overbooking and can't keep up. I work in healthcare. When an emergency comes up that backs up our patients, we call them to give them a heads up or rebook. I don't respect an office who doesn't respect their customers, nor will I support it. If you decide to go here nonetheless, do yourself a favor and call ahead to see if the doctor is on schedule. read more

I took my 14 yr old grandson to see Dr. Salm for a scar on his face due to a dog bite. The dog bite was done when I lived in Bakersfield, CA and the doctor who stitched it was just an urgent care physician. Dr Salm did a V beam on the scar twice and it looks great. I am very appreciative of the excellent service I received for my grandson. The staff was kind, knowledgeable, and very pleasant. I would recommend this office to everyone. read more

Dr. Salm probably saved my nose -- and no, I'm not exaggerating. I live overseas most of the year, and I'd had a slight white-ish pucker on my nose for some time which was very slowly becoming more pronounced. While in Calif., Dr. Salm's appointment slots were fully booked, so I'd had a Carson City dermatologist do a biopsy to check it out. Several weeks later, at my regular "freeze the sunspots" appointment, I mentioned it to Dr. Salm's staff. They took one look at it, cleared some appointments, and got me in ASAP for what turned into nearly NINE HOURS of Moh's surgery to remove the skin cancer! It took four "cut-outs" to remove it all, and Dr. Salm did a masterful job of restoring my nose, all in the same surgery. Several days later, I called the other guy, who had never called me with my biopsy results (very irritating). I was told "All clear, no problem!" Can you imagine if he'd told me sooner, and I'd just taken his word for it?! Not only am I lucky to still have my nose at all, but you'd never know it had been so heavily worked on. I'll forever be grateful to Dr. Salm and his excellent staff for their expertise. read more

I requested an apointment for a basic skin question. Nurse Practitioner Jeanne Horton decided to take a couple biopsies not related to my question. She found cancer. Dr Salm performed surgery to remove the cancer completely. I have been going for my follow ups with both Nurse Jeanne and Dr Salm. They also offer complimentary laser treatment for my scars. I'd recommend seeing someone else in the area or traveling elsewhere, unless you want a doctor who recommends treatments (not always necessary) and won't tell you what you'll be charged. ....I struggled for 3 months trying to get pricing for mole removal procedure from this office. My insurance also tried to find out this information for me so that I would know my out of pocket expense. I have been thoroughly unimpressed by their lack of, and in the end, refusal to be transparent. My insurance (through Blue Cross Blue Shield) said that this office was definitely abnormal and that it was strange that they were unwilling to release their prices. read more
