But, she also said that because of the ERM I was not a candidate for lasik surgery to correct my vision (I had previously had cataract surgery, which gave me much better, tho not perfect, vision.) So, I thought I would get my ERM situation looked at again, and also get a 2nd opinion re: lasik. Dr. Harrell at the Hastings location was a great choice. I had never been to Advanced Eyecare Professionals before, but the online reviews were good. The patient intake was right on time -- no waiting. The assistant was friendly and did preliminary questions and testing. The doctor arrived immediately afterward. And, the exam was thorough. Could not ask for any better care as a patient/customer. Turns out that he said lasik would be perfectly OK, medically. But, the adjustment needed might be too small to warrant the expense and the risk involved in surgery. He proposed another option (which I did not know existed for those who had had IOL replacement surgery): progressive lenses that would allow me to see both distance and reading. So, that is what I will try first. I do highly recommend this office for eyecare.

I've been a patient for…read moreyears with my family, and every time one of us comes in (recently within weeks of one another) there is a huge issue finding our great VSP insurance info (seriously -- we have a great vision plan). I called ahead to prevent any trouble when my son went by himself--yet, he left without a prescription for his new glasses and they had turned him away not able to find insurance info. I had called ahead THAT DAY. Now I'm am trying to obtain a copy of said Rx so he can get glasses elsewhere. It's been a week since Person A said she put it in the mail. Today Person B said the Rx can't be sent yet because it's not signed by the doctor... it's time to move on, unfortunately.

Speed was critical after I reported a blinding light show then presented with classic symptoms; I should have been rushed to a retinal specialist for surgery. I went to him twice for help: he became abrupt and dismissive when I questioned his statement that my vision loss was due to makeup on my contacts. I didn't receive proper care and surgery until I moved out of state and found a new doctor, but by then the retinal damage had become permanent. Dr. Anderson was great for fitting contacts, but not for managing eye health.
