I tried to return the jacket 2 days later for store credit after deciding it wasn't quite right for this person, but I couldn't find the receipt. Jacket was in the pink Skye bag with original tags still attached. I was told that without the bar code on the receipt the item could not be returned or exchanged because they have to have the receipt code to look it up in their system. I do not believe that there is no way around this in their POS. I believe they have a completely inflexible return policy with no room for human error. I was told to find the receipt or there is nothing they could do for me. Over $50 down the drain. What's sad is that I'm a local shopper and I like a lot of what they carry in the store. I wasn't looking for a refund and I would have been more than happy to buy other items at the store. Yes, I should have kept my receipt. I intended to, and somehow it disappeared during my Christmas shopping errands. Yesterday was trash day so I can't even dig through and see if I accidentally threw it away. I understand the policy as a small business of no refunds. I don't understand the rigid stance that without a receipt you can't even exchange for other items in the store. The store would not lose any money by honoring store credit.

She takes such care in sourcing the products that are to be sold in the store. They're all ethically produced, and are high quality. There have been so many different types of products such as lotions, candles, pillows, clothing, hats, stickers, jewelry, chocolate bars, and olive oils. Because all items are sourced and researched by the owner, she tends to be very knowledgeable about any questions you may have while shopping. It might seem like the store is one big room, but climb up the steps in the back and you'll enter another section to shop. Up those stairs is the home of Carolyn's own jewelry line. They're all beautiful pieces, and I highly recommend checking them out. Something I've never seen in another store before is the bouquet bar. There's a section of wall with pots that house different types of plants and flowers. Pick some of those out, and then you'll have yourself a beautiful bouquet. I had one that lasted for a couple weeks! All the grocery store bouquets I've bought will usually die after 4-7 days. Even if you don't live near downtown Auburn, U.S. Artisan Marketplace is worth the drive.

Sunday, May 17th, I found myself in downtown Auburn, after visiting old town"s vintage and antique pop-up. I walked into the store and thought-wow great merchandising! I walked around for a bit and thought what a great store. It did not seem that there were any employees there. I walked the length of the store (about 5 minutes) and found that there was a young woman at the counter. This person did not greet me, or acknowledge me in any way. They saw me, and obviously heard the click of my boots on the tile floor, they then looked me and went back to clipping their toenails(?) I asked if this was their store. They said "What?" I repeated my question, and they said "no." and I said "It shows because you did not welcome your customers." And she proceeded to say "You are welcome to leave!" And I did. There were three things I would've purchased, (their prices are pretty good), but not on that day and not with that person behind the cash register. I spoke to another shop owner in town and they mentioned that they were saddened by my interaction because apparently the owner is a very customer friendly person. It's on Lincoln Street in the heart of Downtown. Street parking or a lot up the hill. It's the cutest shop!! Think brick walls, and lots of character and built in shelves.... Treasures both old and new. A great collection of vintage pieces and vintage feeling pieces. I was happy they were in Fall mode instead of already having everything Christmas out. It was beautiful and warm for autumn. They have classes and I hope to take one. There was a selection of paper ephemera for crafting, home decor, fragrances and more. Definitely worth a visit. Can't wait to go back!
