So, the manager felt the need to respond with such agitation. I suppose one would, if they knew they were overpricing their used-pre-owned items as well. I felt the response was very short-fused and cynically mocking whilst using the word (Thrift) store. For one that does not want to have any association with a (Thrift) store but sells second-hand items, seems rather perplexing? I know many thrift or second-hand store owners who wash and mend their items as well, but at the end of the day, they are still pre-owned. I also highly doubt that you can prove (ALL) your items are American made, my dear. That's malarkey in itself. Levi's originally were manufactured in the US, but it didn't last long, they became so popular that Levi's were made in several countries, including Bangladesh, Pakistan, China, Japan, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, India, Italy, Cambodia, Poland, and Egypt. I'm so sorry to burst your bubble . At its core, a thrift store is a retail store that sells previously owned merchandise - and you sell pre-owned items. Let's make that connection clear. I love supporting local, small businesses, including self starters on Etsy, whom sell shirts made in the US and sell well between $10-20 for new items. Sellers -- also known in the biz as resellers -- do the heavy lifting for you by scouring the aisles at estate sales, thrift stores, auctions, and a host of other places. The vibe of a vintage shop is curated, and that's exactly what the store offers--a preselected collection of clothing that fashionable individuals might seek. It's like thrift shopping, but easier. Curated vintage is just a fancy word for thrift shop. It took quite some time to reply to my post. And BTW, there are plenty of amazing thrift stores still out there as well as affordable *Curated Vintage* shops. They're definitely keeping real. It's okay to say and truthfully state that you're trying to make money and marketing to a specific class of folks, also known as *classism*. Do your thing! If others want to buy a $30-50 dollar pre-owed tee from your shop, more power to you! Have a fantastic day. The US is great, isn't it - Freedom of Speech!!

Sunday, May 17th, I found myself in downtown Auburn, after visiting old town"s vintage and antique pop-up. I walked into the store and thought-wow great merchandising! I walked around for a bit and thought what a great store. It did not seem that there were any employees there. I walked the length of the store (about 5 minutes) and found that there was a young woman at the counter. This person did not greet me, or acknowledge me in any way. They saw me, and obviously heard the click of my boots on the tile floor, they then looked me and went back to clipping their toenails(?) I asked if this was their store. They said "What?" I repeated my question, and they said "no." and I said "It shows because you did not welcome your customers." And she proceeded to say "You are welcome to leave!" And I did. There were three things I would've purchased, (their prices are pretty good), but not on that day and not with that person behind the cash register. I spoke to another shop owner in town and they mentioned that they were saddened by my interaction because apparently the owner is a very customer friendly person. I'll pop in on a day when they are there.

It's on Lincoln Street in the heart of Downtown. Street parking or a lot up the hill. It's the cutest shop!! Think brick walls, and lots of character and built in shelves.... It was beautiful and warm for autumn. They have classes and I hope to take one. There was a selection of paper ephemera for crafting, home decor, fragrances and more. Definitely worth a visit. Can't wait to go back!

When you step inside, it feels like you are stepping into Grandma's house, with book lined shelves in the entry & a period stove in the next room...it's cute, cozy and conducive to browsing all the little nooks and crannies within. The folks running the shop are volunteers. Unlike an experience I had at a volunteer staffed thrift shop on the opposite side of Auburn, these folks are all super friendly and that makes all the difference. The inventory is not huge, but items are well represented across various categories. Books, CD's, apparel,  Kitchenware, decor & a few antiques make up the majority of their items. If you're a fan of Victorian architecture and/or thrifting, you'll want to bookmark this business and visit soon!

Unfortunately, I have little patience for these types of stores. So, when my 19 year old daughter asked to stop here while passing through Auburn, I was less than thrilled. OH MY GOSH!! If every thrift store were like this one, I may convert. It is small, but they utilize every nook and cranny in the best of ways. It is neat, orderly and carries top quality used merchandise. They have quite a number of books, women's clothing, shoes and housewares. (Didn't really notice any men's clothing.) We walked out of the store having purchased a beautiful Scott McClintock "vintage" evening gown, another designer dress, 1 VERY stylish pair of vintage shoes that are currently in style, another pair of shoes, a Royal Albert teacup, a vintage glass jar and an OLD, OLD, OLD hand tatted doily for a grand total of $29. That's right! $29!!! Even my "you have enough antiques" husband was excited over our purchases. And the women who work here are so, so nice. They are helpful, friendly and kind. It was close to closing time and they didn't rush us one bit. The next time we drive by, through, near or next to Auburn, we will definitely be making another visit to St. Luke's Thrift Shop. GREAT place.
