Every part of our yard has its own function and it looks great and feels great. We hang out, bbq, host in our backyard as much as we can. They fully gutted our backyard, leveled out, installed an extensive retaining wall, reinstalled the fence, installed new patio areas and stepping stones, and installed new sod. Diego and his crew worked SO HARD. Our project was done in July 2025 and it was so hot out, but Diego and his guys wanted to finish our project for us before the summer ended. Diego was always communicative, kind, professional, knowledgable, and such a pleasure to work with. He worked with us on our budget, gave us multiple options, and made the best recommendations. We're so grateful for Diego and his crews time and hard work! We even asked him for another smaller project and he completely delivered on that as well. Came home from work one day to find a large section of my retaining wall tumbled over into my…read moreneighbor's yard. The wall was originally built by the builder before we moved in mid 2004. The wall started to lean slightly within 5 years as it was not built with drainage in mind. This time around, I wanted the retaining wall build the right way. I called Charles and Son Construction & Landscaping to get an estimate because I prefer someone local and was pleased with their online reviews. Carlos arrived as scheduled to write up the estimate. He immediately suggested re-using the blocks since they seemed to be in decent condition and would save money. I met with another company the day prior and was originally planning on getting a 3rd estimate. After getting Carlos' very reasonable estimate and asking a few question regarding timeline, I approved the estimate and was ready to move forward. Just 3 days later, the work started and was finished just 4 days later with a Sunday and a rainy Monday that was a wash out. I was so pleased since this has been on my todo list for the last several years and relieved to have it done correctly. My neighbor was also pleased to get part of his yard back. I highly recommend Charles and Son Construction & Landscaping for any outdoor project. You won't be disappointed. Todd Brewer is intuitive about how to best use your space, and over the years has helped us to both create and move various gardens, shrubs, and trees. Most recently, we dismantled a front yard garden which developed secondary to having a magnolia tree which was providing too much shade for grass to grow. After 30 years of maintaining this garden, we decided to remove the magnolia tree and relocate the many plant materials including 6 hydrangea bushes and a beloved lilac bush, and sod that area. Todd was able to do this without harming a single plant, graded and sodded the area perfectly, and replanted the lilac bush to its new location within an existing (and fairly crowded) garden in the back yard, with enough of a root ball that it it didn't lose a leaf. He has also hand-trimmed the 20 arbor vitae running the length of the back yard and provided mulching and other services through the years. We found ECM through our neighbors who also still use this company - and we're very pleased with Todd's work and appreciate his expertise.

When I asked about repairing them, I was told I would need to pay extra labor. About one month later, the picture fell and caused wall damage. I contacted him, but he declined to fix it unless I paid an additional fee. He also cautioned me about leaving a negative review. Based on my experience, I would not hire him again and would not recommend his services.

It takes a tremendously poor experience for me to write a 1-star review for a lawn care service of all things. I have attached screenshots of my text conversation with the owner as evidence. 1. On 6/25/25, 2 weeks after my first lawn service, they texted me to tell me they would service my lawn that day. At that time, my grass was still short and I did not need a service, so I asked if they could come the following week instead. THEY DID NOT RESPOND. 2. I followed up on 7/7/25 asking again if they could come that week. Again, NO RESPONSE. I checked in again on 7/8/25. Again, NO RESPONSE. I checked in again on Monday, 7/14/25. They finally responded, saying they will be able to come out sometime during the week. I thanked them but did not hear from them again. 3. Since they had told me they would be in the area that week and I hadn't heard from them, I gently texted them on Wednesday 7/16/25 to follow up. All I wanted was to arrange a date for them to come, which I think is perfectly reasonable as I did not want to miss my opportunity while they were in the area. Moreover, I had not heard from them since the beginning of the week. The owner then responded with an erratic, nonsensical tirade after DAYS OF RADIO SILENCE abruptly accusing of me not "staying in line with their schedule" and thus they could no longer do business with me in the future. It should be noted that they somehow expected me to know what their schedule is - how am I supposed to know when you're in the area if you don't TEXT ME BACK? Up to this point, I have been extremely communicative, flexible, responsive, and had not demanded they service me on any specific date. I did not require them to come on any specific date, and was open to them coming whenever they were available. All I wanted was for them to tell me a day and time when they could come out. After being the ones who failed to communicate properly with me for weeks, (as evidenced by the lack of response in the screenshots), my perfectly reasonable request to schedule a service was met with disrespect and confusion. Moreover, as much as I hate to dog on someone's literacy, his texts hardly made any sense or gave me insight to what his grievances were as a service provider.
