The second doctor even yelled at me in the exam room telling me he is not interested in what I had to say while I tried to explain why I am there. The doctor at Southwest dismissed me saying I was seeing streaks on their lens machine and that it was as good as it was going to get with my prescription. For two years I struggled with my prescription making it hard to see. I remembered I went to see an optometrist back at El Paso Eyeworks located on Gateway w. I recalled I saw clearly after my exam, so I reached out to her. I saw the optometrist (Dr. Syndy Maynard) this past Saturday, and she listened to my concerns. Turns out, 3 doctors (ophthalmologist, all male), could not figure out that I now needed bifocals. I told these 3 ophthalmologists the exact same thing I told this optometrist. That was the change in my vision. I never had to wear bifocals before. These previous doctors could not figure out or care to figure out that hey, maybe we should take her seriously and investigate just a little further. Two years I was struggling to see! One doctor listened, cared and helped make the correct diagnosis. I am forever grateful for Dr. Maynard and strongly recommend her!

Everywhere I called offered appointments a month out and considering my situation, I really couldn't wait that long. I called Dr. Boynton's office and was offered an appointment the same day! His office staff (one girl!) was really nice and so was the doctor. He took his time and didn't rush the appointment, just like my old doctor! I received a trial pair of contacts, put them in, and the doc took me back into the examination room to check the fit... something my old doctor didn't do. I had to wait the usual two weeks and return for a follow-up, which I didn't like too much, considering I've used the same brand of contacts for years. My glasses needed to be fixed and I asked about pricing to replace a screw on my frames. Dr. Calderon was very helpful and repaired my frames and even threw in a vision test! I was amazed to be able to see clearly he put on a pair of test frames on my face and made me look around, stand up and walk around to get the feel of the prescription. Never I'm my whole entire life have I felt like I was in control of my vision till now. Dr. Calderon is very warm and welcoming into his establishment, I truly felt like I was important to him. These practices can include false advertising, misrepresentation, and price gouging. A couple of examples include the additional fee for retinal imaging. When I visited almost a year ago this was not mentioned, not once. And yes there was a piece of paper on the wall stating that policy, however it was covered up with other items. I believe the cost was ~$35.00 or so. I refused to pay it simply because I did not give my consent and I was not told about it. However, my wife, my daughter and my son's did, unbeknownst to me (again a year ago). Today, my wife visited the office again, this time there was a text prior to the appointment detailing the fee, however, it states "additional fee" no amount specified. Too bad I can't attach a photo. In addition, the staff was extremely rude to her, and stated one price, then charged another. Upon asking for a refund, she was told that they were unable to give her one because the "manager" was not there to approve it. I'm so disappointed, I'm personally not going to visit this office again and neither are 4 other of his customers, last time. Too bad, if the Optometrist relied on his service alone he'd have a great reputation, however, the price gouging and the fact that the staff can't get their act together on pricing, lying to his customers, yes customers, not patients.
