Expensive, impersonal service -- disappointing experience I had a disappointing experience with this firm a few years ago during my divorce. I initially believed I would be working with John the lead attorney, but I was instead passed off to junior associates--even though I was billed at the same high rate. Despite my case being relatively simple (one property and sole custody already agreed upon), I was charged thousands of dollars before anything was ever filed. Most of the cost came from back-and-forth emails, phone calls, and internal communication--not progress on my case. After months of billing, they had only drafted a decree and pushed me toward deeper financial investigation I didn't request. I eventually stopped working with them after spending over $5,000 with no resolution or court filing. I have a simple uncontested family adoption and these bozos don't call back don't respond to emails, never update anything on the case and when you call them on it, they lie. Alma who answers the phone when someone answers is about as rude and ignorant as anyone you have ever spoken to and wouldn't last a day at a Burger King drive through. John Martoccio has been a real friend in a season of need. I was very distraught going through some really scary marriage issues and he was there to comfort in the process and to guide me out the other side. I especially like how he automatically emails me all the correspondence from both sides so I know exactly what is happening at all time. And then he calls to explain things legal to me, so I would not worry. I have heard from friends that their lawyers want to stir up conflict to keep things going longer. This was not anything what John was doing. He was always trying to bring the matter to a close and to consider the cost versus the benefits in every decision. I definitely would not recommend at all!!!! I would give ZERO stars if I could. I hired them for my case. It dragged out for months! I put down a 3k retainer fee and was charged in 7 months an additional almost 2700 dollars! That's nearly 6 grand in less than a year! The case was still not resolved at this point or moving forward and the female attorney was very passive in court and seemed like she was new to law all together. Great ideas for how she wanted to present things, gets in front of the judge and buckles! She was timid to speak up and they charge you for EVERYTHING! Breathing included! You get charged for all emails, phone calls, pretty much anything! I had to hire someone else, because I felt overwhelmed by the cost, and no results. I even requested a payment arrangement for the final Bill during COVID and she agreed, but drafted and entire order and charged for that too!!! RIDICULOUS! It is crazy how they operate. Having had a relationship with Mr Martoccio for over a decade, I can assure you that you can count on him and his wonderful staff to take care of your legal needs. In the past I have had lawyers who were great on my initial visit, but then never seemed to be available to answer their phone and return calls. This is not the case with Mr. Martoccio or his staff. He is there when needed and takes the time necessary to fully understand my situation, and then is great at explaining the legal issues in easy to understand language. He also has COMMON SENSE, which is often in short supply these days. He just knows how to get to the heart of the issues. I never relish going to seek legal representation, but when I need it, Mr. Martoccio is the one I turn to. read more

Mark was hired as our GAL in a joint custody case to settle issues that have led 9 years of constant litigation. I was very hopeful peace was finally on the horizon and my son would have someone that would hear him. After 9 months of being on the case, Mark gave his recommendation to the court that would resolve all outstanding issues. Mother was to lose parenting time, child would see a counselor he was comfortable with and both parents could participate, and he would be able to attend all of his activities during mom's parenting time. The opposing attorney refused to settle and follow the Court's recommendation to settle on the Mark's recommendation. Still refused, and delayed the case for another 2 months. Mark again gave the same recommendation. Again the Opposing Attorney refused and wanted trial. Trial was set, and the Opposing side started finding ways to delay the hearing and put it off further. Mark stopped talking to myself or the child for over a year. He would not respond to emails, or phone calls for weeks at a time. The only way he would respond is if my attorney contacted him several times that he needed to be aware of what mother was doing and return calls. Mark would only speak to the Opposing Attorney and follow up on Mom's unfounded allegations. He extended our case over a year billing an additional $20,000 after he gave his recommendation twice to the court. In all he billed nearly $30,000. When he would call me back rather than ask about my son and what was going on, he demanded I pay his bill or hinted he would have to change his recommendations to the court. In the end he did just that, he then recommended nothing change in the schedule or anything in the parenting plan so after 2.5 years, billing nearly $30,000, and not talking to the child for over 18 months nothing changed. I struggled heavily on reviewing Mark. He is a nice man, but after my watching my son break down in tears on the way to school because he is so upset about missing his sports and activities and being shifted around to sitters non stop at his moms, I felt I needed to bring attention to this. I was hopeful having a GAL involved would resolve some issues, Mark knew all the things going on for years and offered solution, but just because there was push back from the other side he delayed our case and the same issues are still going on. It is heartbreaking as a father to witness and to know a professional turned his back on his responsibilities is frustrating. read more

****SAVE YOUR MONEY DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME***!!!!!! Do you like nothing getting done? Do you like an attorney that WILL NOT fight for you? Do you like an attorney that is extremely dry/Robot like? Do you like an attorney that can't keep track of your court dates and will never respond to your emails? Then this is your guy! The only reason My girlfriend and I ever hired this law firm was because my old neighbor of ten plus years Ross is an attorney there. When we hired Martocio&Martocio we were under the impression the firms founders and my neighbor Ross Schreiter would be handling the case. Well unfortunately I was dead wrong. We aren't "Rich" by any means and "only" put down a $3,000 initial retainer so what do they do? They kick our case to the rookie attorney (Mark Imelski) who just graduated Law school.... Well let's just say I should have just represented her myself. The amount of "work" that was put in for $3,000 I could have done myself. I say this because absolutely nothing was done period! $3,000 blown on continuances, emails, texts, and phone calls. In over a year long waiting game Mark didn't file a single motion! After we fired him and hired a new attorney she told us about 2-3 motions he could have filed to benefit our case and never did; this hurt our case. BIG TIME! One being a motion of stay. To keep our daughter in the state legally! During this entire debacle this put a giant strain on our relationship as well as being costly. One thing that happened is she stayed with her parents for a little while and they didn't have a bedroom there for her daughter. According to Mark this was perfectly ok. Well was he WRONG! The GAL dinged us for this citing us for not having a personal room for her daughter. That was the first time we looked bad to her because of our false information from our HIRED ATTORNEY! Secondly, Mark was supposed to call her or email her to inform her of this and the GAL found out randomly via email from us! She told us Mark never reported anything to her about my girlfriend moving into her parents and this is when she expressed her concerns about the bedroom; again making us look terrible due to his lack of communication. On several occasions Mark failed to respond to emails; because of this Mark ended up telling us about having to be in court the following day at 8 or 9am the night before court at 9PM! This caused my girlfriend problems with her BRAND NEW JOB. All in all he is very unorganized and a horrible communicator. Also Mark never pushed for the GAL to come to our house and meet me and see where we live. It was very one sided! Several times the law firm had to appear in court for continuances they sent a senior attorney Ross who was billing $300 an hour. When we found out Mark was handeling the case their excuse was he was cheaper "hence saving us money" and a "great attorney". If that was the case he should have gone for the continuances not the more expensive attorney for something so simple. The only reason we stayed with this law firm so long is I trusted my neighbor, he is friends with my father and had represented me for things in the past and everything went fine then. I really wish I could turn back time and hire a different law firm from the beginning because now they are saying we owe another $1,400+ to them for god knows what!?!? I am in the process of filing complaints with the board of attorneys because according to several Google reviews this isn't the first time Mark has ripped off clients in the past. Please do yourself a favor and don't waste your time. You will thank me later. I am sorry Ross my neighbor is involved in this but unfortunately he could have done something to help us considering he is a senior partner. I am so severely disappointed with the results of my husbands case. He has received less time and paid more money since he has retained services of Martoccio and Martoccio. There are things that he has asked for and has not received a response about. He was ordered to pay for child's mother attorney fee (although she hasn't), paid for The GAL and owes Martoccio in excess of $23,000!!!! How do you explain such a significant loss to your client? I have court in Judge Loza's room and I haven't seen anything close to what he is going through. I don't know if they are rolling over because he cannot afford to pay the excessive attorneys fee due to paying for 2 GALS(they didn't even fight to keep the same GAL on the case), paying her child support, paying HER attorney fees and never received his over payment. This is beyond ridiculous! He asked in e mail that you guys file a motion for him to file his daughter on taxes....that never happened. No justification on why he couldn't get half time with his daughter. All in all, 2 years of court with no results. All my husband did was receive bills! He had more time with his daughter and a lower payment prior to Martoccio getting the case. Maybe they do a better job with personal injury because my husband got nothing but more debt out of this. The only thing that they did for me was win a non contested child support case which the state does for free... retainer of 1500 was expected, used up before a court date was not. it took several months just to get child support established and an additional 2400 dollar bill. from two court dates!!!!!!! They also tried to keep continuing the court dates saying an employer did not respond while they sent and charged me for all the emails of the employers response... and then charged me to look back on their mistake.. After seeing the final outrageous bill, I asked to speak with someone about it. They cut off ALL contact and took me to court. To finally agree on a price I would have been happy to pay before a court process. I paid the judgment in full immediately and they did NOT release the judgment until I checked my credit and found out I had OUTSTANDING debt... 6 months LATER!!!!!! Do NOT go with them, THEY MESS YOUR CREDIT UP and do not file paperwork of which they are supposed to!!!! Completely unorganized. read more
