Thursday. September 19, 2024. Lunch. This restaurant re-opened under new management a while back, after Covid. They get quite a few golfers here, even on weekdays, but I am reviewing the restaurant, the Links Bar and Grill. The hours are Monday through Thursday, from 7 am until 3 pm. Friday through Sunday from 7 am until 5 pm. They seem to do a robust business from nearby workers at animal control, the dump and New Mexico Department of Game and Fish. I stopped here with a co-worker for lunch. He offered to buy my lunch, so I obliged. They were empty as it was after 2 pm. I ordered a shredded beef burrito ($12) smothered in Christmas chile (red and green). Burrito came out fast, less than 5 minutes. Large and filling, but just average taste wise. Red and green chile had no bite. Would have liked it stuffed with a bit more beef. Service was good, large portion would have liked a bit hotter chile. read more

Worst condition this course has ever been in as are several other courses in the area that have been closed to reseed and sod the worst areas. This course should do the same but because it is now run by a corporation, Troon Golf, this will not likely happen. read more

We have played this course for the past two years and it was outstanding! This year it appears to have fallen on terribly hard times. The courses are in deplorable condition. There is absolutely no maintenance/upkeep being done on any hole! The greens are bare/patchy with not a blade of grass. The fairways are not tended to and clearly they are NOT WATERING ANYWHERE. As you walk the course there are huge machines sitting on certain holes as though some major issues exist. This course has gone downhill fast! What a disappointment!!!!!! Get it together or you're going the way of Towa and other failing golf courses!!! read more

The worst service ever. The course is dry and crunchy, not well maintained at all. I would rather play no golf then play here. The value is awful, it may be cheap but everything about this course is a let down. They really need to work on customer service and respect the game of golf enough to take care of the course. Absolutely breathtaking venue and extremely affordable. I'm from SoCal and was amazed at the pristine conditions of the course. So sad to hear that the grill and golf shop were closing but really hoping someone comes in and takes over this incredible location. This course eats my lunch and I love it! I suck at golf, no distance, no directionality and I can't putt to save my life. I have a big big handicap but I'm a scratch golfer when it comes to remembering it's a game. I have fun... it's my Zen. My opinion of the golf facility is three thumbs up. It's not a perfect course. But if you're looking for a really good place to play, Marty is it. The course is surrounded by beautiful views of the mountains. It can be a challenge for any level of golfer. There are a number of tee boxes. I worked hard to get to be in my 70s so I could move up a box. If you get a chance, play The Great 28. It's is a gas! The 8 par 3s and the par 4 final hole are a tremendous compliment to the facility. Like all of NM there is a drought. The crew do their best under that and other circumstances. Santa Fe has a precious jewel in the Marty Sanchez Links de Santa Fe. I hope the city understands and appreciates what the Marty Sanchez Links need to continue to maintain and improve, specially now with our drought. Played this course over the weekend and had a great time. I was in town for a family reunion so we organized a scramble for a bunch of us to go out and hit the links. The course was in really good shape from tees to greens and the pro shop staff was friendly and accommodating the whole time. Marty Sanchez has great 360 degree views of Santa Fe, and a bunch of options for tee boxes which makes it a great course for beginners (we had a 6 year old in our group) to long bombers (tips stretch to 7,400 yards). The only negative I can think of from the day was that my girlfriend's rental clubs were pretty mismatched and not well put together, but that's about it. Recommend this course if you're in the Santa Fe area and want an enjoyable round of golf without having to pay the high rates at a club like Las Campanas. read more

Interesting fun course. Played from the blues and enjoyed it. Greens fairways and rough are in good condition. Some bunkers were poor and none I could see had been raked in awhile but the sand in the bunkers was good. Beautiful scenery, interesting course and not crowded. Highly recommended! read more

Played yesterday 7-15-21, as we do once a week. The Superintendent has resigned and we are worried about the immediate decline in conditions. Former Super kept the course well groomed and ever so slightly dry...perfect for playing conditions and keeping the course firm. Yesterday was a soggy mess. Puddles everywhere, mud puddles lined the cart paths and were gouged by carts. The rough was deep and soggy suffering big gouges where carts had accelerated. Where the rough had been mowed, those areas were draped with long unsightly wet clippings. Don't get your ball in there you will never see it again. Greens were ok but very slow and fuzzy. Bunkers are filling up with weeds. Just after teeing off at one hole, two young staff members came barreling right down the center of the fairway in a maintenance cart right into our path. We saw them several times after that obviously untrained, messing around and not supervised. Very disappointed in how quickly things can deteriorate- hope they get a skilled Superintendent soon! Do you ever spend money and feel sick to your stomach because you realize later you completely, absolutely, 100% wasted it? That's how I felt yesterday about 2 holes in to this course. First off, the fairways/tee's are in great shape. That's about where it ends though. The greens, you can tell from my photos, were just sanded. I don't think they were "sanded" though. In actuality they were pebbled with a SMALL amount of sand mixed in. The greens had golf ball sized patches of dead grass that these pebbles eagerly filled in. So in some areas there were rocks and pebbles higher than the grass!! Literally, you could not putt on the greens. Oh, do you think the guy in the pro-shop said (before wasting $33), "yeah our greens have been pebbled just so you know?" Nope, nothing was said at all. The bunkers were full of great sand that was super easy to hit out off. JOKING!! They were hard-packed with, you guessed it, rocks and pebbles all throughout them! So if you have nice irons, I wouldn't hit out of the bunkers. Then, to top it off, the course if full of octogenarians WALKING!!! And when they let you go through, they are all super friendly!!! (being sarcastic). My advice, driver an extra 30 minutes or so and play Sandia. Twilight is $49, AND, that includes access to the range. I showed up there the other day at noon for a 2pm tee time and hit range balls and practiced for 2 hours. This course has no bunkers to practice out of and I didn't even take a chance at looking at their "$10 for a large bucket" range balls. This course seems to be kept afloat by all the super friendly retirees that walk around hacking it all day. No other way to explain it. There's zero chance I'll be back here to play. read more

Our group was having lunch on the patio after a morning of golf and the management kicked us out. Were we rowdy or causing a problem? No. Some group was holding their championship tournament and they didn't want anyone watching them. Like we even knew they were out there. So just remember. Residents of Santa Fe are not allowed to grab a hot dog and beer at the City of Santa Fe golf course if lousy golfers decide that others cannot enjoy the facility. Shame on the complex managers for this precedent. read more

I played here for the first time, mid-morning, mid week in late August. A very nice municipal course, quite reasonable rates. Fairways and greens in good condition; five sets of tees. I didn't use the practice facilities, but it looks like you hit off turf rather than mats. Pace of play got a little slow on the back 9, despite the marshal regularly circulating. Personnel were knowledgeable and friendly. The pro shop seemed a bit sparsely stocked, perhaps due to it getting a little late in the season. read more

Great course, good conditions. Poorly managed. Ok, so I understand that this is an inexpensive muni, but the management is very unwelcoming and lazy. On the day we played, there were no tee markers, just a bunch of teeing areas with no clear location for the various tees. Lazy. In order to get a cart, we had to sign our names and give a telephone number, presumably so that we could be pursued for damages if we were to drive the cart into a lake. Not welcoming, not trusting. The final straw was that during our round we were asked by a course marshal to show our receipt to prove that we had payed for our round! We were in carts! Was there really any thought that we might have walked on somehow? Crazy. Very unprofessional. On a lighter note, the course layout is very creative and challenging. Lots of distance variations, many attractive views. Greens in great shape. On-course refreshments. Simple but nice bar/restaurant. read more

Had a great time playing here last weekend. Very fun golf course with plenty of scenery and nice course conditions. Lots of rolling fairways and challenging shots into the medium sized greens. Played from about 6800 yards and would say that is a good distance for a 10 handicap here. Greens were a little scruffy in some spots, but overall decent slightly on the slow side (Winter Conditions). Otherwise, fairways and tee boxes were in great shape and the crowds were light. Well worth the green fee. Can't beat those views of the snow covered peaks surrounding Santa Fe! Will come back later in the year. read more

I haven't played golf here yet but the no frills restaurant has very good green chile cheeseburgers, and a selection of local beers on draft, which attracts the local duffers. If you are ever in the Caja del Rio area where services are few and far between, this place may be just what you need. read more

Just got done playing and had a great time! Course is in really good shape with very reasonable green fees and excellent food/drinks in the restaurant. Pro shop staff is great, especially Alonzo, they were very hospitable/flexible in getting us a tee time and some wonderful rental clubs that I will definitely use again the next time I'm visiting from San Diego. I am a regular at Marty....for a short time once a year, the tee box markers are not present...this is a groundskeeper thing...NOT lazy people. If you play Cochiti, SFCC or any other course around, they punch your receipt at the start....cart or no cart. If there isn't an official starter, then the marshal will come around and punch your receipt. All these other courses also have you sign name and phone for cart....My foursome loves playing Marty and you need to get out more. read more
