I have to say that working with Mr. Gibbs and Springwood Gardens turned out to be a good experience. He came for a look at the property, gave me an estimate and made some observations as to what more needed to be done, suggesting that a failing tree be removed, and offering to include it in the price he quoted me for the original job, which was to cut back the many ornamental grasses that line portions of my property and to prune a line of shrubs. A day or so later the trimming and pruning job was done. It took just a few hours and the cuttings were hauled off and everything cleaned up just as promised. Took a week and a half or so for the second part of the job to be taken care of, which was the tree removal. It wasn't a big priority, so the wait was not an inconvenience. That day both Mr. Gibbs and his team were present for the job, and I was impressed with how quickly and efficiently the work was done. In addition to those jobs, the owner offered three extra services that he included in the agreed-upon price that added additional value to my purchase. He had some left over mulch from another job that he offered me. It was enough to refresh one bed. And while the crew was there he asked my permission to have them do two other jobs--prune the shrubs in my front bed, and clean up the leaves in the front yard. I said yes, of course, and all the jobs were done to perfection. So, essentially, he killed two birds with one stone: he kept everybody on his team busy with useful jobs and made sure that he gave me added value. That's what a good businessman does, and I find it commendable. This initial experience has left me open do to doing more business with Springwood in the future. In terms of pricing, they aren't the lowest priced landscape business around, but neither are they the most expensive. I know because earlier in the season I got two quotes from two other businesses. One was outlandishly high, the other offered me a quote that required I buy a package deal that included jobs I didn't want done. Regardless of my appeals, the estimator would not budge off their bottom line, which was too high based on the work I wanted done. I was baffled at their level of inflexibility. I won't be calling them back. Mr. Gibbs, on the other hand, was flexible and helpful in working out what needed doing, and went above and beyond to make sure everything happened right.

I was so upset today that I had to pay another company to remove the weed! it was ridiculous! He did this last November! He removed the ground cover and gravel that I had laid back in 2022! It sickens me that he took advantage of me in this way. He took the wooden edging, a flower box and killed a hosta plant that I had for many years. He even took the pot that I had it in! I never asked him to do any of this. I only wanted an estimate of what I needed done. How dare him to start working and discarded all the work I had done years previously! I don't know how much a Creep Myrtle cost, but that is dead too. I should have sued him at the time. Don't know if I can still bring a lawsuit?

Whenever I went back to him to discuss any matter, he was always very open to my ideas, and would ask me detailed follow up questions to ensure that the final result aligned with our expectations. They did a great job of the work, which included building/replacing two walkways on the sides of our house. We all know it's very hard to find someone to trust with your homes needs, even harder when out of state... but Josh made it easy. He was friendly, honest and communicative. He was the only one, out of 5 estimates, to FaceTime with me when he had questions and not just text a picture or send a wordy email. Once hired he moved fast! And when the mulch we wanted was out of stock he took pictures of what our other options were, before purchasing or guessing. He also took fantastic after pictures to make sure we had a good feel for what they did and lended advice on how to best maintain it (many would just waited to charge you for another visit not help you understand what your yard needs). Pricing was very fair especially based on the 4 other estimates we received. I appreciated that he itemized each task so we could pick and choose what works best for your budget. Overall I would highly recommend Josh and his crew. I myself won't hesitate to use him again in the future. He was able remove the poison ivy same day! I was so relieved because I had been so scared to go near the garden area that had poison ivy for months. It's my first time dealing with poison ivy. I called several landscaping and ivy removal companies but he was the most responsive. He was also very kind and walked throughout my entire yard to double check if there were more spots where poison ivy was growing. There was one area in the backyard where I thought poison ivy had grown but he quickly identified it as another ivy. Overall the experience was quick and pleasant. He also offered the best value!
