I visited twice to have the loose stones set. Neither time did he mention needing grading certificates. On my second visit, he sent me all the way home to fetch my chains so he could measure the hardware for the bails. I pointed out that custom bails usually follow standard conventions to accommodate normal clasps, but he insisted. When I finally returned with the necklaces, he threw a brand-new curveball: he now demanded to see the stones' certificates. When I asked why he didn't mention this before sending me home, his only response was a dismissive, "I just need to see them." I asked what would happen if these were inherited or estate stones without paperwork, and he flatly said, "Sorry, I can't help you." If a jeweler is worried about stone breakage under pressure, evaluating the gem's integrity is supposed to be their job and expertise. To spring a rigid paperwork policy on a client after making them run errands is completely unprofessional. a nasty bully who is a total waste of time.
