Salty ribs. Excellent sandwiches. We came on a Tuesday, and we were seated quickly. The interior was quirky and had lots of miscellaneous stickers and text, which I liked. We ordered the brisket sammie, the full rack of smokehouse ribs, and the MJ cheesesteak. First, the ribs were way too salty for me. They were burnt. I love burnt ends just as much as the next person, but half the ribs were as hard as a rock and tasted like a Himalayan salt lamp. They had good smoke flavor, but the extreme saltiness was unenjoyable. It was 30$ for ribs and a side with fries. The brisket sammie was great. The brisket was fatty and tender and moist. The MJ cheesesteak was my favourite, with extremely tender and moist chopped brisket. The au jus dip was also great. The ribs were the main con (way too salty) but the rest was great. The service was alright. They were only somewhat busy and we had to refill our water ourselves. I would recommend this place, but I could not recommend the ribs. read more

Huge shout out to the Mary Jane's for being so welcoming to our bigger crew an hour to closing! I was in town for a weekend to see my friends, and after hanging at the pool all day we wanted some delicious food. I got a margarita which was made wonderfully. It was definitely fresh and didn't taste like it was from a premade mix. I also got a quesadilla and it was probably one of the best I've had. The sauce on it was wonderful! What a prime location for fall football at SEMO! Being a proud alumni, we stopped here on our way back to St Louis. Not sure what I was expecting we were pleasantly surprised. The building has a great ambiance, plenty of seating. Took a few minutes to get service but once once it got rolling it was good. It was fun sharing SEMO stories with the waiter. Very disappointed with our brunch today. I ordered chicken and waffles. Waffles needed salt Chicken was simply chicken fingers - overcooked. Guess expected something else as menu stated "chicken breast"... Usually what we have is delicious- unfortunately today, very disappointed Waffles were those small ones (2) and 3 dry chicken fingers. 1/4 cup of thin syrup. Not enough for the dryness. I hope they will try to improve this in some way, however I will never purchase it again. Server was very friendly, helpful. Food deliverers were quick and efficient. As for ambiance, it's Mary Jane's. It's a friendly place with nice view of the campus and a television at the bar if you want to watch the game. Tables were large to fit all 6 of us. The servers we have had are always trained well and friendly. I left my phone in the car. I could not take a picture. Bummed. Jayda is a top-notch bartender who gets to know what you like in a beer, or cocktail. She makes great Old Fashions to your liking. I loved the creative interior decor and the open atmosphere with plenty of natural lighting. The menu is fairly varied, with a focus on barbecue and cocktails. The double smash burger with bacon and kettle chips was delicious, especially the kettle chips. The Memphis nachos were also tasty and a good-sized portion. I had a mule from their feature menu to start which was fine, but the highlight drink for me was the 4 Hands Madagascar--highly recommended if you're a fan of stouts. This was one of them on the short list. It did take time to be seated, but our waitress was attentive when we got our seat. Recently checked out Cape Girardeau for the 2024 Eclipse. Handy dandy Yelp, led us to Mary Janes for a bite to eat. We visited on a Saturday afternoon for a party of 6, we were quoted a short wait before being seated. Honestly, everything hit the mark across the board! My husband and I shared the brisket sandwich with mac n cheese along with the chicken katso that came with rice, bacon green beans and a side salad. The brisket was tender and flavorful and the chicken had the perfect crunch. We loved all the sides and that came with the entrees and left full and happy! The rest of the group was happy with their meals. The only downfall was that you have to order sauces individually, they do not keep their BBQ at the table. Though this isn't the biggest deal, i love being able to tyr them all and decide which I want. The spicy sweet was my fave, but also the mustard forward one. The rub around the outside of the turkey was a little heavy on the black pepper for my preferences but it was overall very hood. I really went back and forth whether this was a 3 or 4 star kind of place. I had the smoked chicken sandwich without the bun. The chicken was great! Smoked chicken can be hit or miss but I'm currently doing a red meat cleanse so it made sense for me. I combined the usual bbq sauce with the sweet heat which was a good combo. Both sauces were ok on their own but combined were great! The pickle that was on my chicken however was the worst pickle I've had in my life. It literally tasted rancid to me. And I love pickles. It was just abhorrent. The pickled onions were great though. I ordered the fries as a side and they came with ketchup. Apparently the ketchup is really popular but neither my husband nor I liked it. At all. My husband had the brisket sandwich. He loved the Texas toast but only liked the brisket. He thought it was dry. I tried a bite and I have to agree it was a little dry, and I even had a fattier piece. I think they had too many tables for the amount of staff they had because we weren't checked in that often. Called there last week to place an order and the phone rang over and over again. I called 12 times and no one answered. Then i called 3 days later to ask if they would be open for christmas eve and a gentleman told me yes so I just called and they stated that they are only doing bulk orders even after I explained to them that this is for a company christmas party and refused to take my order. I have been in this place about 10 times in the last year with no complaints, but on Sunday March 22/2026 I went in with my son and family. Talked the place up all the way from Sikeston to Cape. My son and his family had never been there before. Well because of the experience we had, it is doubtful that any of us will return. Not sure how much experience our server had but if she treats everyone the same as we were treated she needs to find another job. It began with her placing the silverware tray down and walking away. No words just dropped the tray. (and yes I do mean dropped) When she returned to take our drink order she may have introduce herself but I did not hear it. No one at the table could tell me her name so I assume they did not hear her either. She took our drink orders and walked away. Serval minutes later she returned to inform me that they did not have Big Wave. She was standing at the end of the table and I could not hear her. I requested she speak up. At that point she walked to the end of the table where I was sitting and dropped a card on the table and walked away. My son explained that with the card I could use my phone to pull up the selection of beer. I did not have my reading glasses with me so I just requested water. She never brought me a glass of water. (my son had order water and tea so he gave me his water) She also was the server for the table next to us. When she was trying to show the customer at the next table she bumped into our table and a beverage was spilled. She did not act as if she saw the spill even though she did see my grandson cleaning the table and floor with the napkins in the silverware tray. All though she had cause the spill she did not to help clean it. Nor did she bother to return with a replacement beverage. When she returned to take our order we had to ask for a refill of the spilled drink and extra napkins. It did not get any better from then. Orders where wrong (pretzells and pickles) were place on the table. (pretzells were not ordered) Sauce was on my daughters sandwich when she had ordered it on the side. 2 brisket s were delivered but it should have been 2 chicken. She at no time came back to ask if everything was ok, had to ask for refills on drinks. My daughter told her of the mistake on her sandwich when she dropped off the bill but it was too late to correct it then. The server never did explain the mix up of the orders or try to fix it. I just ate the chicken and paid the bill so we could get out of the place. Will never return and will never recommend to anyone ever again. read more

I also really enjoyed the sausage. The pit beans - also a banger! I could've went without the turkey and the brisket was fatty, so if that's your thing you'd like it. The Mac n cheese was an upgraded side, it was awful. I do not recommend. It had no flavor and was an additional $6 to upgrade!
