Absolutely Fabulous boutique! Truly. From the minute I walked in, I recognized the love & thought…read morethat went into curating a collection of women's clothing that provides quality fabrics, modern yet timeless design, and comfort! Take it from me, a fashionista at heart who has shopped in many boutiques, Willow & Bark is a gem! This boutique in The Dalles can rival any boutique in Portland or other cities. The owner, Traci Griffith, is delightful. Helpful without being pushy, its like shopping with a friend, but one who is honest about how a piece of clothing looks and fits. Traci wants you to look and feel your best. Traci opened the boutique the November before Covid hit so her first 2 years in business have been tough. I'm so happy to have discovered this gem and hope others find it and support her. We need this boutique to be successful so we have a place to shop and find fashionable clothing! Sourced from many lines, there are flowing maxi dresses in subtle patterns; denim dresses in a variety of lengths; jean jackets with a modern design; blouses with beautiful prints; leggings and slim pants; jeans; duster length cardigans; and soft, gorgeous, comfy sweaters. A sweater by Shana Apparel in neutral fall colors with birds captivated me; if only she had my size! Same with a white fuzzy tunic with an Aztec print at the bottom and on the sleeves. I need to shop here often to make sure I can grab my size before others get to it! To make an outfit you're own, there are plenty of accessories. Colorful scarves, long dangly earrings, necklaces in many lengths, even some shoes, handbags, totes and hats. There are some home decor and gift items, too. Neutral pillows with lots of texture, throw blankets, lotions and candles, too. Items are well priced across the spectrum so anyone and everyone can find something within their budget. Located right on E 2nd, you don't want to miss this boutique! With The Pines 1852 Wine Tasting to the right and The Work Shop gift store on the left, and Sigman's Flowers and Gifts across the street, this is the block to shop! I spend a lot of time in Hood River and have recently been making my way to The Dalles. For 20 years, The Dalles has been a direction - meaning I-84 always posts The Dalles to identify the eastern direction of the interstate - but now The Dalles has become a destination in itself for me. Willow & Bark Boutique is one of the reasons! I will be back, often! Highly recommend!

Traci sells excellent, quality brands that I had never heard of, but have learned to love; they have become my "brand" of choice. Traci works hard to keep the shop looking good and every season offers fun, classic and colorful choices. When Traci isn't in the store, her sidekick, Jackie, does a great job too. Nice job, ladies!

While this boutique is located in downtown Hood River, the exquisite collection of thoughtfully curated goods would fit in any cosmopolitan city boutique. I wish this shop was located in Portland, not that Portland is cosmopolitan, but it's where I live! The lushious handbags, many from designers in LA or NY, get me every single time. My preference is always for nice leather bags with a simple but very unique design, without designer names and logos distracting from the quality design and material. At Plenty, there are plenty that fit this description. Sorry, couldn't resist the pun! On my recent visit I saw, and immediately purchased, a python clutch in an ombré design of orange, black, mustard and turquoise. Trust me, it's way more beautiful than it sounds! It's a standout piece that goes with and elevates any outfit. The clothing is made from high quality fabrics and very well-made. Mostly in solid shades of neutrals that work in everyone's wardrobe, with patterns and pops of seasonal color mixed in. Jeans, sweaters, jackets, shawls, capes, blouses, dresses - yes, yes, yes and yes. Casual or evening. Lunch with the girls or date night. Something for every occasion. There is always a unique collection of jewelry, shoes, and a selection of beauty products near the back. The staff is very friendly and attentive. If you are the type that needs a sales person's help to pull together an outfit, then this is your place. My preference is to browse on my own and seek assistance when I have questions and they seem to be able to discern the different needs. The items are high quality so the prices reflect that. But since there is such a variety of items, there truly is something for most anyone.

Each of the staff truly cares about how you look and makes it a personal mission to make you look and feel gorgeous.

It smells SO AWFUL. If the stench is not coming from one of the cars parked along that side of the building, then it has to be coming from the building, itself. If there is not a dead body on the side of the Fred Meyer store, then they have some kind of seriously disgusting issue with rot or mold that literally smells like a dead body. There is NO WAY the employees haven't noticed. The checker assistants have to go over there to collect carts. I'm not exaggerating when I say it smells like something is dead over there. Someone needs to figure out where that smell is coming from. It's a health hazard on the basis of how bad it smells alone, but nothing smells that bad without there being a biological cause. It smells bad enough to merit three paragraphs. If it is an employee's car, this is one of those cases where they need to be written up for disgustingly unacceptable hygiene. There is no acceptable excuse for any area of a grocery store to smell like that. My second most pressing issue with this store would be the weights and measures. Is Weights and Measures like, not even a thing in Oregon? Because the sale tags at this Fred Meyer are wrong *more often than not*. They do a great job of putting tags up, but it doesn't seem to be anyone's job to take them down. I've been to this Fred Meyer a few dozen times, and it feels like I've caught at least one price error on every single visit. It's so bad that it almost feels intentional. You think you're getting low prices, and if you don't pay very close attention at the register, you might not even notice that such an incredibly high percentage of the sales tags are expired. I'm not saying this as someone who is angry with Fred Meyer. I still shop here. I've just stopped believing the sales tags. For example, a few days ago I was going to buy a bag of Nature's Path Peanut Butter granola, because it was marked down to $2.99. I even checked the tag to make sure it wasn't expired, and it wasn't. I actually like the chocolate flavor better, but it was $4 more. I specifically chose the peanut butter flavor because it was on sale. But even after I hit 'total,' the price was still $6.99. It's like the sales tag was just completely made up. Weights and Measures would have such a field day in this Fred Meyer store. I bet they could raise enough money from bin label error fines to pay for all kinds of community necessities. Third, the handicapped restroom in the women's room has a door that is impossible to lock, and it has been this way for at least sixteen weeks. I'm kind of hoping they get sued by someone in a wheelchair, at this point. That's so messed up to let sixteen weeks go by without fixing that. In case management reads this and decides to address the issue, they need to make sure the door can be locked by someone without much physical strength. If the door needs to be lifted up to lock, then it is absolutely not accessible. How would a person in a wheelchair lift the whole entire door up to get the latch to fit? I wasn't even able to do it with all my strength, and I tried pretty hard. I haven't had any issues with product quality or employee attitudes, as a lot of other reviews mention. The employees I've come across have been friendly, if it can be considered friendly to not care that most of your customers are being deceived and overcharged. So, like I said, I would still shop here, but carefully. Keep in mind that most of the sales tags are mythological. And don't park on the Super 8 side of the store unless you're able to hold your breath on your way to/from your car.

I am so happy I found Enchanted! For years I shopped at The Enchanted Alpaca that was located on Oak Street in Hood River. Enchanted is a much smaller version of that store and is now located across the bridge in White Salmon. The boutique is on E Jewett, right next to Windmere, and hours are by appointment only so make sure to plan your visit and call ahead of time. The owner, Carol, is delightful, and when you visit Enchanted, it's like shopping with your girlfriend, the one you trust to be honest about how pieces look and fit. Never any pressure to buy, Carol truly wants you to have fun trying on various items. When the right item finds you, there is no way you can leave without purchasing it! Trust me, you will know. On a recent Friday I set up an appointment at 1pm. Immediately upon walking up the steps, an oatmeal colored alpaca jacket with big oversized furry pockets caught my attention. It was stunning! So unique and as Carole said, "the pockets are a party!" Not thinking it would work with my shape, I took a picture of the jacket for a friend. If I couldn't have it, someone I knew had to own it! The jacket was such a statement piece while simultaneously being understated, one you could wear when dressed up or casual, when out and about in jeans or leggings. Reluctantly, I passed the jacket with furry pockets and made my way to another jacket that caught my attention. The minute I put it on, it felt like the jacket was designed specifically for me. A duster length denim that was super fitted in the waist then expanded out to flow over my hips, it was love at first fit! I continued to try on the jacket in various lengths and colors and every one of them looked great. When you find a designer who works for your shape, everything in their line typically fits. After what had to be 30 minutes, I had to pull myself away from this section! There were so many other tops, sweaters, jackets and coats to explore! Plus scarves, hats, gloves, warm socks and even some jewelry. Still having fun, I tried on a gorgeous red alpaca coat that was incredibly beautiful and flattering. Several long cotton duster sweaters in colors (berry and fuschia) and big patterns that I typically avoid. Again, they looked fantastic, so flattering and fun. I decided to buy the duster length denim jacket - a no brainer - and also bought another one in a rich cowboy brown leather color, in a shorter hip length. I was so happy with my purchases that I was grinning like a Cheshire Cat! As I was leaving, I decided to try on the Alpaca coat with the furry pockets just for fun. My intent was to snap a pic to text my friend, knowing it would be perfect for her. But as soon as I put the jacket on, it was a Cinderella moment! The jacket was surprisingly perfect in every way - the fit, the color, the style - that it was impossible for me to leave without it! Yesterday I wore the jacket while on a girls weekend wine tasting. Literally at every single winery we entered, the hostess said, "wow, that jacket is incredible, those pockets!" Yep, they're a party! At one winery where I had visited the night before, the server seemed shocked that it was me. She kept telling me how beautiful I looked, saying over and over how she didn't recognize me. I wasn't really sure how to take that, other than to say, I clean up well! If you like high quality clothing made from natural fibers that wear well and last a lifetime, set up an appointment to visit Enchanted. Tell Carol I sent you and that I love my furry pocket coat! They are a party!
