Decided to check this place out since they were open during a Belton fall festival. After passing by multiple times, I went in and looked at what they had. I got the pumpkin chocolate chip because it looked good and is an underrated combination. This has a cream cheese frosting and chocolate drizzle on top as well. I thought it was pretty good! Nice pumpkin and pumpkin spice flavor (having both is important), it had enough chocolate, and was pretty soft and cakey which I don't mind. My one complaint is that this is too SWEET. So sweet that I couldn't take more than 2-3 bites at a time. Maybe it's because of the frosting? I would still recommend this but would suggest you share with friends or split it into 4 and enjoy it slowly, especially because of its size. This is probably going to be true for all of the cookies. I'm not sure, but I'm guessing the ownership changed. The recipes for the cookies must be different. I got eight earlier this week, four different flavors. There's very little flavor to any of them. I happened to be next door and had been craving something sweet when I stumbled across this business so I had to check it out. The shop isn't huge but they have a ton of offerings. They have at least 18 varieties of ginormous cookies, cookie dough, ice cream, and even brownies. You can even make cookie ice cream sandwiches or choose from premade varieties-some with frosting and some with ice cream. I decided to try the Turtle, Smores, and Brookie. All were humongous! And they all had a nice cookie texture-not too crunchy, not too soft. Nice chew. And all would have paired excellent with a glass of milk! If you're ever in Belton definitely check them out. Mary's always has friendly staff, even the younger staff will likely surprise you. Now, I haven't met many cookies I don't like. If I'm offered cake or a cooke, I'm picking the cookie every time. I quite enjoy the quarter-pound variety cookies made here. The iced cookies can be hit or miss, in my opinion, but icing/frosting in general is hit or miss with me. They can come off a touch too sweet, and sometimes the iced/frosted cookies are a little underdone. Seasonally, the molasses crinkle cookies are my all time favorite. The S'mores cookie is a temptress. You can never go wrong with the classic Snickerdoodle. Stop in, say hi, and support this little shop. It is, apparently, the only one in Missouri! I have tried the cookies before by purchasing cookie tubs for fundraisers as well as from the local Hy-Vee but it was neat to go to the actual store and get them fresh and watch them make cookies in the background. There is much more variety than I had anticipated so I had to try 8 of them bc go big or go home . Speaking of...these cookies are large! They range around the $3 price point but they are worth it fresh and if you find one that you really like. They are well crafted and offer a cookie type for everyone. I tried the almond sugar, brownie, sea salt caramel, snickerdoodle, snicker, red velvet, chocolate chip, and Oreo. All of them were great but I put them to the test with some friends and we voted for the almond sugar being the best bc it was a good texture (not too firm but not too soft or flour-y) and had a contrasting texture with the icing. The sprinkles on the edge are a nice touch. The almond is very present and not artificial tasting. I also recommend the Oreo or the brownie if you have a sweet tooth. The snickerdoodle and red velvet was too lack luster for me but only bc the other items packed a punch. Either way, pick that appeals to your taste buds and you can't go wrong. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They offered a deal of 6 and get 2 free along w 10% off bc we were first time visitors. We tried to order milk but they did not have any in the fridge. When I asked about the gluten free cookies I was pointed towards a little freezer. Expecting the gluten free cookies to be much smaller, but No they were not! At least eight different varieties. What a wonderful bakery! The staff is always amazingly nice (I've been in 4 times before writing this review) and helpful. It's a quaint little spot with only a couple of places to sit if you need to - but I think the small bakery feel is part of the charm. Edible cookie dough is by far the BEST thing this place has to offer. Which is saying a lot because everything I've had (three types of cookies, coffee and dough) is amazing. Today was our second stop in Mary's and each stop I have spotted something new. She always has her big as your head cookies in so many different varieties that you will find one you like. As well as the day old cookie shelf. But you will also find at times cookie sandwiches, tarts, smaller cookie sizes, edible cookie dough, scones, cinnamon rolls and more. Mary will do cookies for occasions as well as cookie cakes. You are not going to find the Pinterest style sugar cookies here though, just good old fashioned delicious cookies. The service is just as stellar and friendly. They also offer ice cream, pretty standard flavors of chocolate, strawberry, rocky road, oreo and praline. The old school tried and true stuff! Today we did a traditional chocolate chip cookie and chocolate ice cream in a cup. We were offered complimentary sprinkles on top of the ice cream and that made one four year old very happy! This is one of my favorite places in Belton, MO! We love to go to Mary's Mountain Cookies! The owner, Rhonda, is wonderful. She's so friendly and kind. The cookies are delicious. They have a sample platter out to test always. They offer ice cream as well. It's always fun to take my daughter and her friend to this special place in downtown Belton. My favorite treat recently is a delicious ice cream sandwich made with their 2 inch cookies (made on site) and their amazing ice cream. They do not skimp on the ice cream! When I learned that a cookie shop was coming to Main Street Belton, MO, I was extremely excited! I love visiting bakeries, taking in the sights and scents of sweet, sugary confections. I picked up a lot of cookies, many of which I really enjoyed like: Smores, Snicker doodles, Chocolate Chip, Peanut butter dipped in chocolate, Oatmeal, and my absolute favorite.... the almond glazed sugar cookies (which brought back memories of the sugar cookies that my Mom and I would make together. Some didn't really do it for me, but I left without trying so many other varieties, that I would love to explore more flavors when I go back.
