I am so grateful for seemingly noise proof windows and walls, I need it quiet for work calls all day. Perfect location for someone like me without a car - Farmer's market is out the front door and so many places to bike, eat, drink and chill at the park/beach. Rochelle and the Greystar team took over during COVID and are friendly and responsive, and made some nice updates to the common areas including the rooftop. It's nice to live in a place where interacting with management/staff is a pleasant experience (many buildings I've lived in or toured are not like this). They've also done a great job keeping the building safe through COVID, both securing the building and ensuring a clean/safe environment in the common areas. Quick to respond to any maintenance requests, although the units are newer so I have had very few issues. You'll read a lot about the rooftop. It's essentially the same view as Elephante, except one level higher (better), no line, fire pit, BBQ, lounge chairs, couches, night lights, and night sky views. I've met many similar minded and kind residents in the halls and on the roof for sunsets, I feel at home and highly recommend living here!

I lived at the Chelsea for ~2 years, and unfortunately, had nothing but poor experiences…read more Appliances - the "amenities" are limited to the rooftop grill and the ground floor area, and the grill was broken the majority of my time at the Chelsea. My freezer broke and took about 3 months to fix, my dishwasher constantly leaked water on the floor, and my W&D had mold they couldn't remove. All maintenance requests took many weeks to address including multiple follow-ups. Additionally, the walls are EXTREMELY THIN, so you will hear everything going on in the units next to you, and certainly above you. Security - there is a package room, but the security does not monitor it well. I had multiple instances where packages got stolen (and caught on camera), and security did nothing about it except show me the footage (despite them being on duty at the time). Additionally, the building is located in a homeless hotspot, so you constantly feel unsafe just going into the building. If you live in the alley (facing west), you will hear screaming through the night from the homeless out there. Also, the trash collectors come and pick up the commercial dumpsters every day (sometimes 7am) and it is EXTREMELY LOUD in the mornings if you are west facing with "ocean views" Garage - about half of the year, the garage will smell like sewage as they haven't figured out how to fix the pipes. It gets so bad that you need to detail your car to get the smell of sewage out of the interior. Additionally, there are leaky pipes that stained the hood of our car (which we billed back to the Chelsea). Security Deposit - we did a walkthrough with maintenance and they said that everything checked out and nothing beyond "normal wear and tear". Then we get the bill and they took every dollar of our security deposit, and I asked for evidence that there was damage and they said they will send shortly, and never sent. I have send them multiple follow-ups (probably 5-10) and they have stopped responding and are trying to keep everything. They are also claiming there were some "lingering" utilities' expenses that they decided to back charge me for, but don't have evidence of it either. The property manager is friendly and a good person, but somewhat unresponsive and all the aforementioned issues do not justify the price of these units.

I'm moving back to LA after 15 years and the scene in downtown Santa Monica has changed. Brad, was determined to give me a fabulous experience of what life would be like if I chose The Park SM as my new home. The roof top park is their biggest selling point and their gym will make you want to cancel any membership you currently have, its gorgeous. Some of their units are a little dark as the building is surrounded by other properties, however, Brad did his best to show outward facing units as this was a concern for me. Brad's tour definitely put this building at the top of my list of homes to consider. Thanks Brad-

I've never moved out of an apartment in just one year -- I usually stay 3-5 years. That should tell…read moreyou everything about my experience here. The building itself is cheaply built. Paper-thin walls, shoddy construction -- and at one point, a piece of the guest bathroom ceiling fell on my head. I sent photos to management and urged them to inspect all units, but they didn't care. Luckily I only got minor scratches, but this could have seriously hurt someone else. Once the amenities hype fades, you realize you're just paying a premium for a basic apartment. The rooftop gym was a big selling point for me, but it's constantly taken over by fitness classes for non-residents. When your main "perk" is inaccessible half the time, it really adds to the frustration. The worst part? The staff and management. Event coordinators are unprofessional, handymen gossip about residents' apartments, and management shows zero care. The turnover here is massive, and I now understand why. My advice: look elsewhere. This so-called high-end building is paper-thin, poorly managed, and not worth the price. I moved to 1221 Ocean, and I've been here happily for 2 years. Do yourself a favor and choose a well-managed, established property -- not this joke of a building.

I actually lived in both buildings 2160 #1903…read more2170 #102 No complaints about either unit as the view from 1903 was amazing and I loved the full service aspects of the building in terms of you never miss a package as if you are not home they hold it for you. I would say really the only negative is the building is it is/was outdated compared to newer complexes. I mean I lived there primarily in the mid/late 90's and to be honest it was outdated for that time. With the new high rise just built on I think SM and Ave Of The Stars I think that CPE will lose business to them as that's also a full service building and is beyond modern. As an example the newer building's gym looks as good if not better than Equinox. Not sure what kind of crowd lives there now but when I was there it was a hilarious group of people from Fay Wray the original girl in King Kong to the first drummer from Guns N'Roses to Get Smart and everything in between. I've thought of going back to that building but the units that I've looked at are incredibly dated to be honest so I'll probably look elsewhere. Earl

Yelpers please be aware that the review posted by Karen is not by a regular resident. She's the…read morepresident of the home owners association so of course she is biased. I normally would not reply to a yelp review but since Karen was unprofessional enough to call me out on yelp here is my response. Like I said, lots of trashy low lives live at century park east condominiums including the person who lived next door to me. I find it in the fault of the HOA that they do not screen renters. Most other buildings have the HOA approve a renter prior to approving an application which is how they keep out low lives. Not here. Anybody can get in. And it's mostly young kids who party all night long. The atmosphere is just like the dorm I lived in. While I lived in CPE there were countless security breaches. They fired door people left and right so nobody really got to know the residents. They rarely stopped anyone when they were going into the building because they could not keep their heads up long enough. The movies they were watching on their phones were more important. Don't get me wrong, I thought most of the building staff were great but the security was pretty non existent. As far as Karen stating that the building is better off without my family I find that hilarious and very inappropriate coming from the president of the HOA. I made complaints about my next door neighbor due to constant partying and the smell of second hand marijuana smoke. I think most people would feel the same if they were in our shoes. HOA was totally useless. If you ever wanted them to hear you out they wouldn't even hear of it. As you can see by Karens review the HOA were too egotistical to resolve any issues. The gym is far from "state of the art". Sure it looks nice since it was recently remodeled but the quality of the equipment is the worst. I say this as an athlete who works out on a daily basis. I had to join an outside gym because their equipment are such poor quality that they only burn 3 or so calories per minute. All the other gym users I spoke to felt the same way. Shopping carts are scattered all over the hallways and the residents do not bother returning them to the basement where they are kept. It's a very trashy sight. I suggest they get rid of the shopping carts which are mostly taken from Ralph's and replace them with luggage racks. This would be way classier. Future residents- please be aware that management is pretty useless. With the exception of Brandon all of them are very rude and do not treat you with much respect unless you are an owner. I recommend taking advantage of the free air conditioning and heating that is provided all year round. It really is the only thing I would recommend about CPE. The free valet service is nice too but only if you're willing to wait a long time for your car. Otherwise I would stay away from this place. Lastly, they do screen (aka filter) people from posting reviews on yelp as Karen would like. I lived there for over two years so my review is valid, fair, and unbiased.
