I think first time homebuyers often walk into the process wondering if realtors are "worth" the fee the seller pays. I don't know if all realtors are. But Mark is. Mark was informative, tenacious, patient, and above all: effective. We look forward to working with him again on future real estate transactions. We started seriously looking for houses in February 2021. Christina was pregnant with baby #2 (due date rapidly approaching) and Los Angeles was experiencing a brutal, unprecedented sellers market. So of course we thought: "Hey, this is a great time to buy a house!" We wanted a realtor who knew the market and could give us maybe just a hint or two while we (of course) figure it all out on our own. 'We're smart people,' we thought, obliviously. 'I'm sure we can pretty much figure this out on our own, right? How bad could escrow be?' It's bad. It's a good thing we found Mark. Mark perfectly fit what we needed, even though we didn't know we needed it. He gave us a foundational understanding of what was going to happen, what the risks were, what to consider, and how to approach this historically nuts LA market. Mostly he listened. Sometimes he prompted us with questions or with his thoughts, which invariably, frustratingly, turned out to be exactly correct down the line. I think the worst feeling you could have during homebuying would be "I'm not in control, and this thing is accelerating". Feeling like you're at the mercy of a totally opaque market, or lenders looking out for themselves, or the whims of a seller, or termite breeding seasons, and you need to act now or lose everything forever. Mark gave us the guidance and focused attention to detail we needed to feel fully stable and in control of the process. There was never, ever a point where we felt ignored or like things were happening without us knowing. Do you like wondering if someone read an email? I'd like to think this level of attention is special for us because we're just super cool and lovable people, but I suspect it's actually, you know, garden variety extreme professionalism and customer focus. Maybe. Ultimately, our homebuying experience was this: we saw one house and loved it, we put one offer in, we accepted one counter and then successfully closed. Mark assures us this is more an exception than the norm in the current market, but I choose to believe it's some kind of dark realtor magic on his part. I highly recommend this team. I worked closely with Mark and he delivered on the following: -I loved the efficient communication through compass. It definitely set me up for success as I was able to organize all my searches and communicate with mark via notes and comments. Getting quick feedbacks from Mark on each place also added a lot of value during the search phase. -I loved the fact that I didn't feel rushed. From the onset mark wasn't operating like a sleezy sales man trying to rush me to buy the first house we saw. So I appreciated that. -I had a good experience with the lender Mark recommended (all western mortgage). They were quick in meeting my needs and I liked the online platform they used to organize all my documents and tasks. -once the process moved to escrow, mark definitely utilized his time and experience to book my appointments for the inspections, got me a $1500 credit, made sure I received the most up-to-date document on my parking space from the HOA to prevent any misunderstandings down the line, saved me a couple hundred dollars by wisely choosing my fund date to be on a Monday rather than a Friday...all small details that add up and can go a long way. -Mark was patient in educating me on the process along the way. He was willing to work around my schedule for most appointments and jived well with my sense of humor. -Mark had created a google drive folder with all the documents which helped me stay organized! In general mark is detail oriented and systematic so it made it easy to stay on top of the million steps.
