Though it might not be the most beautiful mosque I have been to I love the environment. The reason why I didn't give it a five is because it doesn't have the most room but besides that everything I personally love. I would definetely recomend you to go there for Jummah prayer and prayer times. There Eid salah's are so nice. They rent out this place in rock creek park and it is so nice to pray outdoors with the beautiful weather and the nice environment. I love prayer all around Allah's creations and listening to birds while praying all around you is trees and green. I love so many uncountable things about First Hijrah! As I am very proud to be a daughter of someone who had worked in the board group for years. They have just now purchased a new mosque down in Adelphi, Maryland. They were founded back in 1930 and offers small study groups for women and for men, a K-12th grade school, classes/courses one can take, as well as opportunities to volunteer to do community outreach. The hubs and I saw that they had a little stand on one of the weekdays, hosting a little community fish fry. We ordered a fish fry sandwich combo, which came with two pieces of white bread and two generously-sized, perfectly-fried whiting that was lightly battered. There was hot sauce and tartar sauce as well to dress up the fish. I also ordered a small individual-sized bean pie, as I haven't had that before, to-go. The fish was fresh, tasty, had some bones, but overall, it was super tasty and yummy. Staff were friendly, and it's cash only. All the proceeds go to their community outreach where they offer rehabilitation, classes, support groups, as well as hot food. We were able to get there luckily right before the lunch rush, as the cars kept pulling up! +fish fry :D +friendly staff

I have good experiences at this masjid and feel welcome by the community. There are many beneficial activities and classes being offered weekly and the opportunity to grow in your practice of Islam. No Muslim or community is perfect but if we can train ourselves to focus on the good of the community and be patient with its shortcomings, maybe Allah will transform the shortcomings into good. It's more spacious than other masjids in the area that I've been to…read more The parking is meh, but you can find additional parking across the street at the church (honestly, I'd just park there in order to avoid wasting time looking for parking at the masjid, unless you arrive waaaayyy early). They have a lot of different programs and events at this masjid. More events and lectures than I've seen at other masjids in the area. I am not familiar with the leadership or management of the masjid so I can't really comment on those factors, not yet at least. It's a good masjid to check out. With Ramadan coming up, it should be a lot of events happening here. I'll update after Ramadan with any thoughts on how that experience is.
