Sunshine Poker League is a recreational league open to anyone to play Texas Hold 'Em. It is no…read morebuy-in and no gambling for money, but it is a great opportunity to practice poker with a friendly and fun group of people. I didn't know much about poker when I was invited by my walking partner to play but I went and was welcomed warmly. I played the first several times with a laminated card to help me remember things like what exactly a flush was and did it beat a full house! Lol When I needed help in anyway understanding the game or my options during play, the other players jumped in to advise. Their coaching is not slanted to give an advantage, but they've helped create a great learning environment. The chips are real, the play is competitive and fun even though (of course) there's no money being exchanged. And the more I get to know the other players, I see the healthy rivalry each week with the usual ribbing between some of the regulars. Sunshine Poker League tournament play occurs on specific nights at various venues. I have attended at Charlie's Place, a restaurant and bar on Foothill in SLO on Wednesdays. Other venues host poker nights like Figueroa Mountain Brewing in Santa Maria, and more in Atascadero, Lompoc, Nipomo, Bakersfield, and now expanding to San Diego. Of course, since it's free to play, we support the venue by grabbing some food or a drink on breaks.

Yes it is gravel but clean and like I said full hook ups minus cable. However WiFi was good enough I could stream on my smart tv. Some have complained about road noise. Yes it is right off freeway just like two of the high end Rv resorts in Paso that you will pay over $100 dollars or more a night for. The bar was nice and good prices. The first night we were here they were doing dinner for an event and they let me buy a plate. It was well worth it. Overall great place to Rv for the price. Will be back for sure.
