It is a brightly-lit, high ceiling building that has a collection of artwork (for sale!) from multiple local talents of various mediums. I went in to look, but walked out with 2 multi-media oil painting-newspaper pieces from an artist named Holly whom I even got to meet! It was incredible to get to chat with her about what inspired her to create this kind of work. Then at checkout, my eyeballs deceived me by wandering to some cool glass-blown plant stick decorations that were made from the last Disney glass blower. So, I, of course, *had* to buy a couple of those delightful beauties! Everyone I met there was friendly and welcoming; there is much to look at and much to do there; it is also a place that has many giftable items if you have a birthday or holiday coming up or need some walls to fill. If I had more time, I would have stayed and participated in the self-paced $10 watercolor painting project that was setup in the middle of the hall. Heck, I could be here all day!

Norma Moye is the Director of this organization & runs it like a fine oiled machine. She has always reminded me of how Judy Garland might be today.... very talented, very dramatic and has found her contentment in her own backyard and wants everyone who lives here to feel the same way. Every business that joins her organization will be touched in a positive way. The more you are involved the closer you get to work with this wonderful lady! She will take you under her wing and take good care of you! Our successful little store was just steps away from her (Main Street's office) front door and until the earthquake wiped it away, we were part of the wonderful Main Street family. Then after the earthquake, it was our connections with the people we met through Main Street that helped us get jobs after losing everything. Their generosity and support has helped us build ourselves back up. We may no longer have a store but we will always be part of the Main Street family!

I'm am equally grateful to the many volunteers and supporters who make this place possible. I'm a single parent and became ill and unable to work a few years ago. This drastically changed our lives financially. My income was reduced to social security disability and SSI.... in addition to extra medical costs associated with travel costs for treatment! This means we have to be extremely frugal. I have fully embraced my new frugal self, but what always gets me (and has never gotten easier to shrug off) is the many sacrifices my children HAVE TO deal with. Things like dance or art classes, sports, and sometimes even the basics aren't options. PRYAF has made it possible for my daughter to take the dance classes she has always wanted to take!! She just finished taking jazz and hip-hop classes and will be taking jazz and ballet over the summer break. For my children to have a "slice" of normalcy at a time I can't provide it has been HUGE, healing, and melts this mommy's heart :) My daughter is always so excited to go to her classes and we're both incredibly thankful for the opportunity and possibility!! He plans to attend next year and has said he might want to be a counselor. (He is only 9- he's got a few years to be a camper still!) My sister went to Natoma for years. She and my son compared memories and except for some new songs and food/candy no longer being allowed in care packages, not much has changed in 20 years. The value is fantastic. I'm very happy with the camp (and so is my son!)

Had the thrill of taking my girlfriend out to check out one of Paso's most unique cocktail…read moreexperiences. She'd only been once before and thought it would be a fun place to return to. We arrived just minutes after 5pm on a Thursday, with only one group ahead of us -- about a 5-minute wait before we were ushered in. They do check IDs, so bring one, or find somewhere else to drink. After the secret knock and moving a book in the entryway library, the door opens into a 1920s-style bar: heavy, dark wood, and very limited seating, with just 8 seats at the bar and two larger seating areas for groups. I believe our bartender's name was Matt -- the last of the original employees since Eleven Twenty-Two opened eight years ago. He was great, walking my girlfriend through the menu when she asked for recommendations, and sharing some great insight when we asked about the bar's history and the mixology behind the drinks. She started the evening with a Mexican Firing Squad -- very margarita-like, with tequila, lime, house-made grenadine, and Angostura. I wasn't quite as adventurous and wanted to keep things simple, so my first round was a martini, stirred and dry. The fun didn't stop there, since we had 90 minutes to relax before our dinner reservation. Round two was a Slow and Foamy -- a lemongrass- and fennel-infused vodka with egg white. It was an interesting drink; flavors you wouldn't expect to work together, worked together beautifully. It's an in-house creation by the female bartender, whose name I didn't catch. Torn between a Sidecar and a Manhattan, I went with the Sidecar, since I hadn't found a good one anywhere else in Paso. Matt poured a really nice one -- not too sweet, with a sugar-rimmed glass and well-balanced simple syrup. Like every drink that night, it was beautifully balanced. We finished with a Banana Daiquiri -- their unique take on the drink, without the slushy ice or fake banana flavor. This was probably the best drink of the night for both of us, and we shared it. It's not cheap, but a night out for drinks never is. That wouldn't stop me from bringing out-of-town guests here -- they'd love this kind of historical, speakeasy-style setting. We had the smoked butter pecan old fashioned and a grasshopper (aka dessert in a glass) and both were the perfect exclamation point to a lovely evening! My husband appreciated the decor of tufted walls and the monkey sconces are a fun touch. All the details are perfect. Definitely visit if you're in town. I come to Pine Street regularly and normally have a great experience with the bartenders, but…read moreunfortunately my experience with a bartender that I had never seen before last night was extremely disappointing. My friend and I ordered two simple canned drinks a Corona and a Suncruiser and were told the total was $13. I handed the bartender exactly $13 in cash and even counted it in front of her. When I asked, "Are we good?" she told me, "No, it's not good." Confused, I asked if I had given her the correct amount, and she confirmed that I had, but again said it "wasn't good." When I asked what the problem was, she responded, "You've never worked in the service industry before, have you?" The clear implication was that she was upset I had not immediately given her a tip. I found the entire interaction incredibly rude, condescending, and unprofessional. A tip is optional and should never be demanded or used as a reason to belittle a customer especially when all the bartender did was hand us two canned drinks. I have worked in customer facing jobs (bartending, serving etc.), and I would never speak to someone this way. I also want to emphasize that this has not been my experience with the other bartenders at Pine Street, who have always been kind and welcoming. I did bring the interaction to a manager's attention because this kind of behavior reflects poorly on an establishment that I otherwise really enjoy going to. I hope management addresses it.
