I came across this restaurant's IG page many months ago. I loved their skits and the food content they posted. Fast forward in May I met up with my cousin who lives in Toronto when I went to Egypt and I asked if she been to Masrawi cuz I love their content lol. She said she not only has been there but knows the folks who own and work there. So when I planned to surprise my cousins and visit them in Toronto, not only did they take me here but also introduce me to Mo. haha I felt starstruck but also so honored to meet him and try the food. This spot serves really solid Egyptian food that tastes like it came straight out of someone's home kitchen. I tried a variety of the meats and they were cooked to perfection--tender, flavorful, and well balanced with just the right spices and sauces. Nothing was dry, which made every bite enjoyable. Even though it was busy, the service was quick and very welcoming. The restaurant itself is spotless and clearly well maintained. They also offer traditional desserts like Om Ali, knefe, and rice pudding. If you want a more relaxed café vibe afterward, there's a café in the same parking lot run by the same owners with very comfortable seating and even a prayer room. I was actually on my way to another restaurant in the shopping center when I accidentally stumbled across Masrawy Egyptian Kitchen. I remember looking over and thinking, "What is this place that's so full of life?" It was bustling with people and had such a great energy. I had never tried Egyptian food before, but I was feeling a little adventurous. I'm really glad I did. A few dishes were recommended, but I was told the Koshari is beloved in Egypt, so that's what I ordered. Be prepared for a bit of a carb coma, but it's absolutely worth it. It was delicious. The mix of pasta, rice, lentils, chickpeas, and crispy fried onions worked surprisingly well together, especially with the sauces they give you. Naan itself was very fresh and flavorful. They didn't really put any butter on top which was quite nice. So just a classic lovely garlic naan. Dahi Kebab appetizer - so yum! It was really flavorful on its own, and with that mint chutney it was even better! Husband loved the Malai Kofta ! Curry was properly creamy and even the koftas themselves were good. I needed it a little spicy so added a bit of spice to it and it was perfect. They also had a promotion going on for free samosas with an order of $50 or more. Mama's Molekheya($16.50) This royal mallow leaf green soup might not be for everyone. Texture is slimy. But for me with roasted garlic & fresh ground coriander this soup was very much enjoyable. As an Egyptian who lives abroad, it's hard to find Egyptian food that hits the spot. Masrawy doesn't just taste like Egyptian food but real homemade food. Everything here reminds me of Egypt: the welcoming friendly staff, the ambiance and the richness of the food! I ordered Egyptian specialties and none of them disappointed. I got the Molokhiya and it was out of this world delicious and very authentic. It has the right consistency and the amazing garlicky taste. When to a near by furniture store and we got hungry. This place was recommended to us by a foodie friend so we had to stop by and give it a go. Restaurant was recently renovated according to the staff. The restaurant was quite busy for being around 4pm. Food did take a while to arrive i believe close to 15-20 min after ordering. But man the food was definitely worth the wait. Lamb shank was fall off the bone and under the rice there was a suprise of crispy skin? Or something but that was delicious!! It was our group's first experience at an authentic Egyptian owned & run restaurant ~ thanks to our Egyptian friend who brought us here We were not disappointed ~ all these dishes we had were delicious and I wish I could remember the names of them all. I visited Masrawy Egyptian Kitchen with my family between 5:00 pm and 6:30 pm on March 18, 2026. Our family has enjoyed the high-quality Egyptian food here in the past, which is why we keep coming back. Unfortunately, the service experience during this visit was very disappointing. One ongoing issue with this restaurant is that it can be very difficult to get the attention of servers. Unless you actively wave your hand, they rarely check on your table. During my first visit here, I remember waiting more than 20 minutes just to receive initial service. During this visit, the situation was not much different. After we finished eating, we wanted to request a take-out box. We had not seen the server assigned to our table for quite some time, so I had to wave to get someone's attention. A server who appeared to be yawning came over. According to the manager, her name was Chris, although he seemed reluctant to share it. Chris came to the table with a card reader even though we had not asked to pay yet and were not ready to settle the bill. She then presented a bill for about $160, which was noticeably higher than what we expected. When I asked to see the itemized receipt, it included several food items that we did not order. After I pointed this out, the bill was corrected. Mistakes can happen anywhere, and the error itself would not have been a major issue. What made the situation uncomfortable was that there was no acknowledgement or apology when the mistake was corrected. Instead, the interaction left me with the impression that my question about the bill was unwelcome. I later spoke with the manager because I simply wanted the situation to be acknowledged. The manager declined to apologize and instead asked me to "forgive" the situation. I explained that it is difficult to do that when a clear mistake is not acknowledged. Because of this, I cannot even be completely certain whether the server's name was actually Chris. I'm sharing this experience so future customers are aware of a few things based on our visit: -You may need to actively signal to servers if you need assistance. -It may be wise to double-check the itemized bill before paying. -In our experience, service concerns were not acknowledged when brought to management. If this is not the typical experience other customers receive, then it is difficult not to wonder why our experience felt so different. read more

It was our first time trying Egyptian food. This is one of the best Egyptian restaurants in Mississauga. Even we went on a weekday and it was quite busy. I love the atmosphere and the vibe, especially as we sat on the patio. Everything was so good and they had plenty of vegetarian options. Our favorites were calamari, Masrawy Fusion, and Fatta. The calamari was perfectly fried and so crispy. Dipping it in their own garlic sauce was fantastic. We got the Masrawy Fusion with mixed chicken and beef and it was delicious. My friend and I wanted to get together for dinner. We had arranged to meet up a few months ago. She had to cancel and nothing fit schedule-wise after that thanks to my various travel plans. We got together a few Fridays ago on a frigid evening. I am fine when it's that cold, thanks to living in Manitoba and Minnesota. She is not as acclimated, so I was anticipating that she'd cancel. Nope, she was a trooper and stuck it out. She had suggested a few places. I immediately said yes to Masrawy Egyptian Kitchen. The last time I had authentic Egyptian food was in 2016. I had pigeon. This menu had pigeon. I knew that this eatery was authentic. After work, I drove over to this eatery. It was definitely a shorter distance for my friend who lives in Oakville. I'm glad that she had arrived early. She let me know that she had a table. My drive was pretty good for a Friday evening during rush hour. I had no problem finding the restaurant. It's in a plaza with a bunch of businesses and eateries. I backed into a spot and walked into the restaurant. I saw my friend wave to me. She was close to the front, in the corner. We had the nicest server who was attentive and helpful with the questions that we had. We both ordered different dishes and shared them. My friend got the fatta (lamb shank) with hot sauce on the side. I was shocked that my friend got hot sauce because she can't handle spicy food. I decided to not get the pigeon. I went with Egyptian kofta with salad and rice instead. We both got hibiscus beverages and a huge pitcher of water that was promptly refilled while we dined. It didn't take long for our meals to come. We served each other, so we got the best of everything. It was fun and enjoyable doing a family-style meal. The hibiscus beverage was awesome. It was cold and refreshing, which seems odd considering how frigid it was outside. Who cares! Just get it. The fatta was fabulous. The lamb fell off the bone with little effort. It was so tender and seasoned perfectly. It had bits of crispy bread that added a lot of texture and crunch. I loved the fried garlic with the Egyptian rice. So good! The Egyptian kofta with salad and rice was up my alley. I loved how delicious the ground beef kofta was. Each kofta was juicy and yummy. The rice was so good. You have the option of getting rice or fries. I asked if I could get half and half. That option wasn't available, but she said that I could get salad with my rice. I'm so glad that I got the salad. It was the right amount to balance everything out. It came with tahina, which was perfect. Whenever I see kunafa on the menu, I need to have it. We ordered it and split it. It was yummy. It wasn't super sweet. It was crunchy and creamy, with a bit of sweetness. There was some celebration of an Instagram handle getting 10K followers that night. We joined in, feeling like we were crashing some sort of party with a huge cake. It was far from being dull at this eatery. My friend was kind to treat me to dinner. I'm glad that she did. She paid with a debit card. Done! For the first time in my life, I left my wallet at the restaurant after we had got up and left. I noticed that my purse was lighter than usual when I was in my car and drove away, heading home. A bit distressed, I called the restaurant and asked if they had a purple wallet returned. The man on the phone said yes. I was so relieved. He said to come to the front counter and indicate that I was there for a purple wallet. It helps that I have such a different wallet than most. I don't know anyone with a Kipling purple wallet, except me. Luckily, I was still in Mississauga when I had noticed that my wallet was missing. I was grateful that it was safe with the restaurant. The seating is a little congested to accommodate as many people as possible. The ceiling has hanging light bulbs, art work features the Egyptian culture. Amazing authentic Egyptian food with great customer service! We've been here several times as it is close to my place. The menu consists of grill items, specialty dishes, cheesy pasta, dip platters and more. If you're with a large group, I would recommend the Masrawy Mixed Grill. At $85, it is essentially 4 entrees in one - Chicken Tikka + 4 Kofta Skewers + Lamb Kabab + Beef Kabab. My fav is the grilled chicken (chicken tikka). My young kids always order and share the Macarona Béchamel. This baked cheese penne dish is savoury and super cheesy and comes in a nice clay bowl. My husband's favourite is the Masrawy Fusion (you can choose chicken, beef or both) and the mix of meats, garlic aioli, cranberries and carrots make it the perfect dish. I like the lamb shank myself. The meat is cooked to perfection and falls off the bone without any effort. There's pieces of crispy balady bread (like croutons) in the rice to give the dish a nice crunch. My only dislike was the calamari. Prices at $16, I expected more pieces even though it was crunchy without being too salty. We always finish our meal off with one order of Kunafa to share. The portion can easily be cut into 6 bite size pieces. This is a baked angel hair pastry over cream and topped with honey and pistachio, and yes, it does taste as good as it sounds! Masrawy kitchen is always busy, but luckily during the warm seasons, they have an outdoor tent to accommodate for more people. When you call the number listed to make a reservation, no human being picks up the phone and the phone system is not setup to take a message! We went for an early lunch since we didn't want to wait for a patio seating. For large groups, they had wooden picnic tables and they brought out some tables that were probably from inside. Speaking of inside, it is nicely decorated and the vibe is Egyptian. We didn't have an issue ordering and the service was decent. I was shocked that the food came very quickly and wondered about it. This is probably why... 1. The Masrawy Fusion dish with chicken pieces was cold. The rice was cold. It was probably cooked long ago and not put in a heated area. (Even a takeout place cooks their food in front of me!). The flavour was there, especially the candied carrots 2. The Hawaoshi dish was something new to me and it had a kick to the flavour which I appreciated. The bread was chewy and a bit crunchy. I liked this dish but again, it wasn't served hot (in temperature). And guess what, there were 3-4 tables around that time- including ours. 3. We had to remind them of our Balady bread which I thought it was served hot. So indeed, they have the flavour but nothing felt cooked to order - that's why their food came out quicker than a burrito! Verdict: pricey food and it wasn't memorable. I wouldn't go back. For similar food, I'll rather go somewhere else for hot food and the quantity is probably more for the price of each meal. read more
