We visited here on. Sunday for late lunch and it was packed with happy customers; either for a family lunch out, friends gathering, or just for a solo meal. The atmosphere was lively but relaxed, and the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. They took the time to walk us through the menu and explain the highlights of their authentic Egyptian cuisine. We started with a refreshing "Mojito" and then followed by "Salata Baladi", "Hummus", "Baba Ghanosh", "French Fries", "Kebda Eskandarani", "Sausage Eskandarani", "Karioka Combo" and paired it with "Tahini Sauce" and "Garlic Sauce". The food was very fresh and very flavour. The Karioka Combo includes Tarb (ground beef skewer wrapped with lamb fat), Shish Tawook, Kofta, Beef Kebab, Reyash (Lamb Chops) and the unique Hawaoshi. Each one of them was marinated with unique flavours and grilled to perfection; juicy and tender. We wrapped up our meal with the delicious "Roz Bel Laban", a creamy rice pudding with just the right touch of cardamom and raisins. It was the perfect finish to a memorable meal. read more

I am surprised to have only just discovered this place, but as they say, it's never too late. After two visits I can confidently say I am thoroughly impressed. We ordered the Hummus, Baba Ganoush, Meat Platter and Sausage Manakesh. The Manakesh stands out as one of the best in Mississauga, its thick bread and generous topping of cheese and flavour make it a must try. The lamb chops on the meat platter were also delicious and all the meat is wonderfully moist. The overalls atmosphere, music and customer service were all exceptional. I will certainly be returning. A video of Karioka combo caught my attention, and made me want to try this place during our current visit to Mississauga. We got there around 2:30. There was a group preparing for a baby shower. They managed to seat us at the only table that hasn't been rearranged for the shower. The waiter was attentive. I showed him the video of what caught my attention to come to this place and he said it was the Karioka combo, so we ordered that. It's a multi course meal. It came with salad, hummus, bread, fries and a lot of meat. Good thing we got the smaller portion ( I think the half portion) because even that was too much food for 2 adults and 2 kids. We at least tried a bit of everything, and everything was soooo good. We had leftovers that we were able to enjoy later. The meats were very tender. While we were there, they were making something in the open kitchen that looked like a calzone. We didn't get to try it, but I'm definitely going back to try that on my next visit. Overall, I would highly recommend this place. Service was great. Food was great. I can't wait to go back to try more of their menu. read more

After visiting a pumpkin patch farm in Milton, we stopped by Mississauga to have dinner. We decided to try something new - Egyptian cuisine! My first impression of this restaurant was that it was very family friendly as there were several larger groups with children. However, near the end of our meal, there was a party of 2 using the shisha and the children were still around. I definitely come from a different culture (East Asia) where shisha was exclusively found in pubs, bars and clubs (e.g adult only venues), so it was definitely a little shocking to me. Since my husband and I don't eat lamb, we ordered tamiya (similar to falafel), chicken shawarma plate and macarona bechemal. The chicken shawarma plate was decent for its price. The chicken meat was cut in strips instead of shaved, which was a bit different to what I'm used to, but I am new to Egyptian cuisine! The tamiya were served just like falafel, round shaped and with a side of tahini. I did fine it a tad dry (maybe overfried?) The macarona bechemal was decedant. It was loaded with a creamy bechemal sauce and a layer of grilled cheese. There were bits of ground beef to give the dish more texture. I do wish they stated in the menu that they incorporate lamb fat in the dish, as the gamey flavour hit us on our first bite. For non lamb eaters, the gamey flavour was acceptable but we did start picking out the ground beef half way through the dish. Overall, the service was attentive and the dishes came at a good pace. read more

The workers are very welcoming and make you feel like home. Their food is always fresh, takes a bit of time to make but it comes out very tasty and straight out of the oven. Went for a Saturday brunch. They have a makeshift shade outside of the restaurant, referred as patio seating. Service is average. We had the veggie omelette and mixed grill. I was excited to try this new place, but they definitely didn't wake up for Saturday lunch time service. We waited to sit down; the place was empty and no server was seen. After we sat down, we realized the music was super loud for an Egyptian restaurant. The water was served promptly and then everything went downhill. For being their only 2 customers for the next hour and like 2 takeout orders that we saw, we waited for our food for a very long time. To make matters worse, my partner saw our meals on the kitchen counter and didn't mention it to me for awhile. No server was seen. So he went and got our 2 plates from the kitchen counter without anyone seeing him or saying something!!! What??? Now we have to serve ourselves at a restaurant?!?! Sadly, the food was already cold. His chicken had no flavour and was dry. He had to use my garlic sauce. My kafta meal with rice had a similar taste to his. No flavour!! No spices!! The side salad was ok. The server came by, in shock that we were eating. We told her what happened and she shyly said sorry. No discount was given or any other acknowledgement. Very bad service when most restaurants do very well during the weekend. Food, blah. Will not ever return. Waste of time. Even it's for free, I'll rather eat something better. Sorry. read more

Finally got to try Karioka Cuisine for dine in. I had a much better experience and found the food to be tastier than when I had first tried. Previously, I got mansaf for takeout and did not like the taste of the meal but this time, I really enjoyed the chicken. I love how the restaurant incorporates aspects from different countries and gives you the experience of stepping into Egyptian streets with their patio and the lively vibe they've recreated. The front where you place your order if you're getting takeout is the "French side" of the restaurant, with a wide variety of French pastries to choose from. At the back, the arabic seating was recreated, along with details such as camels as decor. I love the three murals displaying 3 different places in Egypt and the open kitchen concept so you can see your food being prepared fresh. I would love to go back to try more of the dishes and the drinks as well. The juices are made from fresh fruits in house. The staff were very friendly and helpful. read more

First time here and did not have a good experience even though we were the only 2 customers. This was on a Saturday at 11:30am. From the time we ordered to having to get up and get our food ourselves because the waitress was no where to be seen, it took about 35 mins. The food was resting on the food counter for 5-10 mins before I decided to go up and get it myself. The chicken shawarma had no taste and was a bit cold (probably from resting on the counter). We did get an apology from the waitress when we told her what happen but nothing else. The meal was too bland to finish. I will not be returning. It could also be the impact of Covid-19 that the food was bland and the service was below average. read more

Karioka is truly an example of fine Egyptian cuisine! Made to perfection, everything was tasty and fresh. Chicken Shish Taouk was absolutely the best variation I have tasted in the GTA. Portions were generous, came with garlic sauce, salad and rice. The rice were another pleasant surprise! There is a hint of spicy kick to them that is very interesting and unique. Kebda Eskandarani (grilled liver) was perfectly cooked and flavourful. It is served with 2 thick pitas and tahini. It melts in your mouth, it is so tender! I also got a side of fries. They were generous in portion and well seasoned. For dessert, I had the pleasure of trying Roz Bel Laban. It is a very delicate tasting rice pudding that is well suited to anyone who prefers a mild sweetness for dessert. Highly recommended! I picked up my order but they work with several food delivery services. Everything was superbly packaged. Unfortunately, we loved the food so much I did not have a chance to take pictures. Placed a take out order and was given a half hour to pick up. Ended up waiting 45min after getting to the restaurant and paying. The staff were scurrying around and did nothing to check on my order, even after I inquired twice. Finally got my order and while some of the dishes were indeed tasty, the meatballs had uncooked meat in them. Need to up their customer service game! read more

As an Egyptian, I was excited to learn that a new restaurant offering traditional Egyptian cuisine had opened and Karioka did not disappoint. Their menu offers a perfect blend of traditional dishes (like Mombar, Hamam and Hawawshi) and dishes with a creative twist (like savoury chicken escalope crepes). On top of the delicious food, the warm atmosphere and lovely service makes every visit a great experience. Since discovering Karioka has become a go to for my family.
